TOP TEN TUESDAY - Books Every YA Fantasy Lover Should Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week we get to talk about Ten Books Every X Should Read.  So we decided that X should be YA Fantasy, since we have so many books in that genre that we want to gush about!  So here are some Books Every YA Fantasy Lover Should Read……

finnikin of the rock melina marchetta
(Anna’s Choice – Review)
the raven boys maggie stiefvater
(Anna’s Choice – Review)

1. Finnikin of the Rock (The Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina MarchettaAs per usual with Melina Marchetta, the characterization is flawless. Really, I’m in awe of this author for her ability to create characters so real. Far from perfect. Both loveable and detestable. Each and every one of them found the path to my heart, each in their own way. The whole series is PERFECTION, even if my favorite stays Froi of the Exiles.

2. The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie StiefvaterAll week I’ve been rereading these books and every one of them left a stunning impression on me because of how brilliantly Maggie Stiefvater crafted her plot. Indeed I can’t even count how many times I stumbled upon a sentence and widened my fucking eyes before such talent and well, planning.

maggie stiefvater the scorpio races
(Anna’s Choice – Review)
six of crows leigh bardugo
(Anna & Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

3. The Scorpio Races by Maggie StiefvaterThe Scorpio Races changed me, somehow, even if I can’t pinpoint in what way so far, and this story will linger for a very long time in my heart. Now, tell me, what better compliment could I give it? None.

4. Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh BardugoKAZ KAZ KAZ I fucking ADORE YOU and I obviously have a canal rat mouth because I CANNOT STOP cursing because I JUST LOVED YOU AND YOUR ASSHOLE-ISH AND CUNNING AND RUTHLESS WAYS-AND YOUR HIDDEN LOVE FOR INEJ-just TOO DAMN MUCH. And Inej-YOU LITTLE BADASS! I ADORE YOU, TOO!!!! I just…I can’t…..ah fuck it- I. CAN’T. EVEN.

magonia maria dahvana headley
(Anna Review & Chelsea Review)
the demon king cover
(Anna Review & Chelsea Review)

5. Magonia (Magonia #1) by Maria Dahvana HeadleySo. Many. Feels, guys. Truth be told, the ability to make me care determines grandly my enjoyment of a story, and in my opinion it was magisterially executed here : I hoped, I cried, I laughed, I yelled, I loved.

6. The Demon King (Seven Realms #1) by Cinda Williams ChimaThis story was addicting beyond words, creative beyond measure, and Han will steal your heart before you even realize the little thief has weaseled his way into your soul-He has an uncanny knack for such things.

Talon by Julie Kagawa
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
the wrath & the dawn renee ahdieh
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

7. Talon (Talon #1) by Julie KagawaAn undercover soldier out to kill the girl he’s falling in love with??? Come on. Come ooooooon. How. HOT. is. that? Every look, every touch, every caress…every kiss…..I couldn’t breathe. I was choking on butterflies, my heart swelled to immeasurable proportions.

8. The Wrath & the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn #1) by Renee AhdiehAll I want to do is scream and shout and fangirl and cry and just go completely crazy with my love for this story.

Riders by Veronica Rossi
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
the iron king julie kagawa
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

9. Riders (Riders #1) by Veronica Rossi – My favorite by far was Blake.  He could be a hothead than practical, or sarcastic one moment and heartfelt the next, ohhhh or swoon worthy and then an ass.   And those swoon worthy moments filled my stomach with butterflies!  Blake was the boy who I desperately wanted to help fix, especially getting to hear some of the thoughts in his head.

10. The Iron King (The Iron Fey #1) by Julie Kagawa – I laughed, I cried and I even clapped out loud and I’m not a clapper while reading, or so I thought. I loved this book! I can’t believe how much this series just keeps getting better and better as you progress through the books!

  2. Ah I still have yet to read The Raven Cycle series! And yes Six of Crows was so good!

I didn’t enjoy The Wrath and the Dawn but I can see the appeal. Magonia sounds quite weird to me but I’ve heard wonderful things about it. I’ve never heard about Finnikin and the Rock. I’ll definitely consider checking that out.

    Wonderful post 🙂

    • Thanks so much Fafa! This is my directive time so : You have to read Marchetta!! 😀 Finnikin is not my fave – book 2 is – but I LOVED her characters. So real and flawed ♥

Also, The Raven Cycle just gets better and better. I reread them all last week and loved them even more^^

  3. I love The Raven Boys, so excited for the last book in the series to be released.

  4. First off, I need to wish Jen a happy belated birthday – I hope you had an awesome day!!

Now, on to this post – I’m sad to say I’ve only read about half of these. I’ve heard fantastic things about all of them, though – someday I’ll manage to read all the books I want to read. (Who am I kidding? There aren’t enough lifetimes.)

The rest of them are all on my to-read list, sigh, we need a few months to just read and nothing else! ♥
