Monthly Wrap-Up – November

Jen’s Life:

Some of my highlights were –

I finally posted our family Super Hero Halloween picture.  We even dressed up our two little dogs *sequels!*  You can see the picture here.
My parents, brother, Grandma, Aunt and Uncle all live 10-17 minutes away from us now, so we finally don’t have to travel 10+ hours for the holidays anymore.  Thank goodness!  We drove a few minutes to my parents house for Thanksgiving, and cooked and played games all day.  It was a fabulous day!
We decorated our house for Christmas the Saturday after Thanksgiving!  I love cranking up the Christmas music, having the fire going and celebrating the holidays.  The boys helped decorate the tree and there’s definitely little clusters of ornaments right at their height level lol.

Here’s hoping you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, if you celebrate!  And cheers to a December filled with lots of happiness!

During our Monthly Wrap-Up we’ll take a look at what has happened around here in the last month. That’ll include what we read, any other posts we may have had, giveaways still going and books that I’ve added to my ever-growing TBR.

♥ Enjoy!

Our Favorite Books of the Month:

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer  (Chelsea’s Choice)
Total opposites, these two grow closer and closer, not realizing that the person they crave talking to most every day is one of their worst enemies. Dark, misunderstood Declan and popular, uppity, miss goody-two-shoes (so he thinks) have found the ultimate connection. But in real life, they continue to clash.

✩✮✩

Renegades by Marissa Meyer  (Brittney’s Choice)
This was SO fun, twisty, and fast paced. And visual. Meyer is so insanely creative – we saw that in her Lunar Chronicles series that I loved – and I would argue that this might even be stronger (though no one can replace Thorne.) All the prodigies have crazy cool powers – ones that I would have NEVER thought of. The whole plot is brilliant.

✩✮✩

Run Away With Me (Come Back to Me #3) by Mila Gray  (Jen’s Choice)
I know without a shadow of a doubt that each time I pick up one of her books that I’ll laugh, cry, sigh and fall in love.  And that’s exactly what happened when I read this friends to lovers romance.  Run Away With Me was a beautiful story that was filled with hope, friendship, family and love.

I’m so bummed to hear you didn’t like the new Julie Buxbaum book. She’s a delightful author to meet in person, and I always just want those people to have the best books! I’ve so been wanting to read Hunting Jack the Ripper, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Hopefully soon!

Yay for your family being so much closer now! Mine is still too far just to “pop” in and I don’t see them as often as I wish I could anymore. We also love to put up our tree right after Thanksgiving and wear Santa hats and play Christmas music while decorating. I had my birthday last week and no one gave me any reading books–this is a first and I’m hoping Christmas is different (I basically only have books on my list). I did get a music book for my Native American flute so maybe that counts.

    • Jen

Aw, Santa hats sounds like the cutest idea ever! I bet my 4 & 6 year old would love that, we’ll have to do that next year. Thank you for the idea!
And I have my fingers crossed for you that you get lots of fabulous books for Christmas! That sounds like a fascinating book you got for your birthday! I didn’t know you plated the flute that’s amazing! The only instrument I can play is the piano and since my boys have been born I’ve been awful for playing and just restarted this fall. 🙂

      • Danielle Hammelef

Santa hats are fun! Mine is super warm too so I wear it walking, shoveling snow, and just this weekend to a living Nativity outside. I’m practicing my flute now, well, after I press send…

        • Jen

You definitely get lots of use from your Santa hat, that’s so awesome! I love it! Hope you had a wonderful practice!
