Monthly Wrap-Up – February

During our Monthly Wrap-Up, we’ll take a look at what has happened around here in the last month. That’ll include what’s happened in my life, what the four of us have read, any other posts we may have had, giveaways still going on, our most popular Instagram posts, and books that I’ve added to my ever-growing TBR.

♥ Enjoy!

Jen’s Life:

Some of my highlights from February were:

The area I live by has had SO much snow!  As of February 22nd, when I typed up this post, Lake Tahoe had received almost 250 inches of snow.  That is just for the month of February.  Here are some of my snow pictures throughout the month….picture 1picture 2  and  picture 3.
I went to the #sfggae19 last month, which is a book signing in San Francisco.  I had SO much fun and met some of my favorite authors!  I’m working on a wrap up post right now, but I almost didn’t think I was going to be able to attend.  We were hit with the worst storm ever. We got 41 inches of snow in under 8 hours, and of course it was when I was driving there Friday.  The weekend totaled almost 9 feet of snow, so it was fun trying to come home too lol.  Here’s a picture of me trying to get back home here.
My kiddos had ski week off from school, so we worked on learning how to snowboard.  Their enthusiasm was so much fun and I was so proud of how far they came!

Our Favorite Books of the Month:

Darker Water (Once and Forever #1) by Lauren Stewart (Jen’s Choice)
Darker Water was a steamy, heart-felt story that constantly had me smiling.  Just within those first few pages, I was already laughing and obsessed with our two main characters.  It all flowed so seamlessly and I devoured it in no time at all. Darker Water became an instant favorite and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t pick it up sooner.  Especially since I bought this book four years ago.

✩✮✩

The Risk (Briar U #2) by Elle Kennedy (Arielle’s Choice)
This was everything I wanted it to be AND MORE. Guys. At this point I could literally read Elle Kennedy’s grocery list and probably fall in love with it. She is the queen of hilarious banter and steam and I am all here for it.

✩✮✩

The Kiss Thief by L.J. Shen (Chelsea’s Choice)
Upon finishing this, I looked up this author and immediately added the original mafia book this author wrote a while ago (people said to) because she is clearly a genius who knows how to cut the boohockey (Friends lol) and get straight to the lustful, hate-filled, passionate enemies to lovers I-Hate-You-But-I-Have-To-Make-Out-With-You-Because-You-Are-So-HAWT ness. Oh….did I not mention this is enemies to lovers?? MY BAD.

  1. Wow, that is a lot of snow. We’ve gotten a lot, too, but that’s not unusual. I love your Instagram photos. Have a great March!

    • It’s been a while since we’ve gotten over 250″ of snow in just one month lol. The amount of hours we have spent shoveling it all is kinda ridiculous and while I love winter I’m actually looking forward to June and beach days. I hope you are having a great March too!

  2. Great wrap up! Looks like you had a fun month with all that snow, Jen! ahaha! Anyways, You guys had an amazing reading month! I’m looking forward to read The Kiss Thief, and The Wicked King! I’m pretty excited to read those books!
Hope you all have a wonderful March and Happy reading! 🙂

    • Oh my gosh Raven, The Wicked King ended up being just as great as everyone said. I hope you end up loving it!

    • And the snow keeps coming lol! We have another storm hitting us tomorrow wheeeee lol! I still need to read The Kiss Thief too, here’s hoping we both love!

  3. I am still trying to get over all the snow Jen has been subjected to. I would never survive. I think we got a combined 12 inches this weekend, and I was almost in tears. Hate the white stuff! Out of the 36 books I read in Feb, 4 were 5-star reads. My favorite is a toss up between Rayne & Delilah and Opposite of Always. Both were wonderful!

    • The amount of snow we get is INSANE! It makes for epic snowboarding and skiing but clearing it out of your driveway and patios takes forever lol. I didn’t click on any of our snow articles because I didn’t want to know the total amount for February. But then a group chat I have with my friends said we hit 25 feet. 300 inches. I can’t even, it’s so ridiculous.
Aw those stories sound adorable! I just jumped back into YA Contemporary with Julie Cross and I’m having fun with her books! 🙂

  4. That is A LOT OF SNOW! We had a bit of snow but of course Texas Snow is nothing compared to other people’s snow.

I bought the Risk but I haven’t read it yet but Elle Kennedy always writes such a good book so I have no doubt that I’ll love it. I have read The Hot Shot and really enjoyed it. I’ve seen the Kiss Thief around and keep hearing how awesome it is so I may have to check it out.

    • Yes I’m quite sure you will love The Risk if you also enjoyed Hot Shot! There’s just something about her banter and writing in general that I can’t ever get enough of!

  5. I wish we would get snow here! Last year we had a couple days where it snowed for an hour, but nothing sticks in Texas. But holy crap that’s a lot of snow! I love the cover for the Kiss Thief. I still want to read Sky in the Deep.

    • Right?! We get so much snow here! We hit a little over 300 inches by the end of February lol. We’re of course getting another storm tomorrow, but it’ll only be a foot of snow. I’m excited for a small storm finally, yay! I absolutely love the cover of Kiss Thief too, it’s soooo pretty!

  6. SO MUCH SNOW! Guess it was a good month to have “ski week” off from school (I’m laughing about that, by the way–seems crazy to those of us who live in flatlands.)
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction recently posted…The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord: A Dual Review with Danielle HammelefMy Profile

    • HA! It’s funny how ski week is the norm for us mountain people. And it’s always in February. There’s a saying out here that’s kinda cheesy….but usually we refer to February as Febuburied. Because for the most part we get buried by snow in that month lol. This year it was over 300″ of snow, we’ll see what next year brings!

And our weather man this morning said we had 29.9 inches of snow TOTAL for the season and added he doesn’t think we’ll get any more. That’s fine with me! My crocuses are starting to come up and with temps rising to the 60s by the weekend, I expect lots of them to bloom. Happy March is Reading Month!

    • Oh wow, that’s so different from where we live! Although I’m more of a snow than rain person….I literally melt when it rains lol….so I’ll gladly take heaps of snow in exchange for no rain. 🙂 Awwww flower blooms sound beautiful! I think the only flowers in my near future are the ones at the grocery store. Enjoy ♥
