Just Finished and Loved

Right Kind of Wrong (Finding Fate #3) by Chelsea Fine  – 5 Stars!  I fell madly in love with this book & Jack! Chelsea Fine has become an author who I can’t recommend highly enough!  Jenna Lacombe needs complete control, whether it’s in the streets . . . or between the sheets. So when she sets out on asolo road trip to visit her family in New Orleans, she’s beyond annoyed that the infuriatingly sexy Jack Oliver wants to hitch a ride with her. Ever since they shared a wild night together last year, he’s been trying to strip away her defenses one by one. He claims he’s just coming along to keep her safe-but what’s notsafe for her is prolonged exposure to the tattooed hottie.  Jack can’t get Jenna out from under his skin. She makes him feel alive again after his old life nearly destroyed him-and losing her is not an option. Now Jack’s troubles are catching up to him, and he’s forced to return to his hometown in Louisiana. But when his secrets put them both in harm’s way, Jenna will have to figure out how far she’s willing to let love in . . . and how much she already has.  Jen’s Review

Game (Jasper Dent #2) by Barry Lyga  – 5 Stars!  What a wonderfully demented series. Not often do I pick up thriller books and find such satisfaction. It isn’t merely the characters, though, that’s about 80% of it, and it isn’t wholly the mysteries. I think my love for this series stems from the humor that seeps off of every page. In the 1st book, I Hunt Killers, Jazz is a likable teenager. A charmer, some might say.  But he’s also the son of the world’s most infamous serial killer, and for Dear Old Dad, “Take Your Son to Work Day” was year-round. Jazz has witnessed crime scenes the way cops wish they could–from the criminals’ point of view.  And now, even though Dad has been in jail for years, bodies are piling up in the sleepy town of Lobo’s Nod. Again.  In an effort to prove murder doesn’t run in the family, Jazz joins the police in the hunt for this new serial killer. But Jazz has a secret–could he be more like his father than anyone knows?  From acclaimed author Barry Lyga comes a riveting thriller about a teenager trying to control his own destiny in the face of overwhelming odds.  Chelsea’s Review

Blood of My Blood (Jasper Dent #3) by Barry Lyga  – 5 Stars!  5 stars because let’s face it, a book can be flawed as hell, yet if we’re enjoying every moment in it, how could we rate it lower than 5 stars?  Anna’s Review

Rowdy (Marked Men, #5) by Jay Crownover – After the only girl he ever loved told him that he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and set out to live up to his nickname. A good ol’ boy looking for good times and good friends, Rowdy refuses to take anything too seriously, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Burned by love once, he isn’t going to let himself trust a woman again. But that’s before his new co-worker arrives, a ghost from the past who’s suddenly making him question every lesson he ever learned.  Salem Cruz grew up in a house with too many rules and too little fun—a world of unhappiness she couldn’t wait to forget. But one nice thing from childhood has stayed with her; the memory of the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who’d been head over heels in love with her little sister.  Now, fate and an old friend have brought her and Rowdy together, and Salem is determined to show him that once upon a time he picked the wrong sister. A mission that is working perfectly—until the one person that ties them together appears, threatening to tear them apart for good.

How to Lead a Life of Crime by Kirsten Miller – A meth dealer. A prostitute. A serial killer.  Anywhere else, they’d be vermin. At the Mandel Academy, they’re called prodigies. The most exclusive school in New York City has been training young criminals for over a century. Only the most ruthless students are allowed to graduate. The rest disappear.  Flick, a teenage pickpocket, has risen to the top of his class. But then Mandel recruits a fierce new competitor who also happens to be Flick’s old flame. They’ve been told only one of them will make it out of the Mandel Academy. Will they find a way to save each other—or will the school destroy them both?

Crushed (Redemption #2) by Lauren Layne(Releases 4/07) 4.5 STARS Crushed warmed me from my head to my toes.  It was hilarious, endearing, and heartbreaking all at the same time.   Lauren Layne’s latest novel about the healing power of redemption tells the story of a crush gone wickedly wrong, proving that what you want isn’t always what you need.  Growing up in New York, Michael St. Claire never expected to spend his twenties wearing cowboy boots. But that was before he learned about his real father, a total stranger with a family in Cedar Grove, Texas. Once in the Lone Star State, Michael meets Kristin Bellamy, who is exquisitely refined and everything Michael always thought he wanted in a woman. The only problem is that Kristin is dating Michael’s new half brother, Devon.  Kristin’s mouthy, curvy sister Chloe has always been in love with Devon Patterson. So when Michael offers to help Chloe break up Devon and Kristin, Chloe agrees to a deal that seems too good to be true. Before long, Chloe finally gets her man, only to make a startling discovery: She no longer wants the guy she had to fight for—she wants the one who stood by her side.  After all he and Chloe have been through, Michael swears he’s damaged goods. Can Chloe convince him that love is worth the risk? Jen’s ReviewChelsea’s Review
