Welcome Post: Say hello to my dearest friend, Cassie!

I am SO beyond honored to be introducing one of my ‘REAL LIFE’ best friends in the whole world to the blog-Cassie!

It’s so funny to think that Cassie and I met randomly at a spin class we both went to after work-only TWICE a week! We sat on total opposite sides of the room from one another, which just goes to show you how big of a loud mouth I am (and apparently she is, too, since here we are today lol). One day I randomly yelled something across the room to her (she seemed nice enough?) and she smiled and yelled right back…while everyone else stared at us. Losers didn’t know what they were missing out on 😉. Not the most lively group, they weren’t.

After class we met up and decided to sit together for the next class-and so it began. The next time we got to class-somehow, and I’ve no clue how-the conversation of books came up. I’m almost positive it went like this:

Cassie: Yadda yadda yadda and finished up a book I’m reading

Chelsea:

WHAT BOOK

Cassie: Red Queen?

Chelsea: FHSDFSDJFKSDFDHSFJDHSFHDSKJFHDSF HKDJSHFJKSDHFSDFJKSDHJFHDSKJFHDJ KSHFKDSHFKJDSHFKJDHSKJFHD SKJFHSDKJFHKJSDHFJKDSHKJHFKJSHFKJ
DO YOU LIKE CAL?!

Cassie: No. I don’t like Cal-I LOVE HIM!

……..

Chelsea: ……..
And Maven?

Cassie: Nah, I just don’t understand why people are so obsessed with him!

And the rest was history.

I soon learned she’s a thriller book junkie (yikes) and that she loved some of the same YA fantasy books that I did, and that she loved recommendations. Since then we’ve bonded over books, book boys, and whining about our husbands together. And, really, what else do you need? I hope you all grow to adore her just like I do!

Better yet? NO MAVEN LOVIN’ THERE! Muahahaha

Here’s what Cassie has to say about herself ♥

Hi! I’m Cassie and I’m a dog and cat mom and wife to my wonderful husband. I’m from the United States but love to travel for both work and leisure. I’m a pop music junkie (late 90’s/early 2000’s preferably) and enjoy Netflix-binging and putting my MoviePass card to work. I love diet coke, chapstick, cruelty-free beauty and listening to true crime podcasts (hello Murderinos!)

But I also LOVE to read. I always have, but these past two years I have been obsessed. My favorite genres are mystery/thrillers and young adult. I will read books outside these genres (I’m a sucker for a good celebrity memoir or GOOD contemporary romance), but I just drawn to these two genres the most. A common theme in my favorite books is a strong female lead character. She absolutely can have flaws (I encourage it!) and struggle and make wrong choices, but as long as she can ultimately persevere and learn from the past, I’m a happy gal. A good romance to go with it doesn’t hurt either, especially of the slow burn or hate-to-love variety. I’m ok with a good love triangle, but keep any kind of insta-love away from me.
I’m so thankful for this opportunity to join these wonderful women at the Star-Crossed Book Blog. I’ve been a follower of theirs for awhile now and am so excited to join this amazing team and share my love for all things books. My favorite authors are Victoria Aveyard, Gillian Flynn, Megan Abbot, Lauren Oliver, Megan Miranda and V.E. Schwab to name just a few!

A Special Welcome To Our Newest Star-Crossed Lady!

We’re so happy to announce that one of our good friends is joining us here at Star-Crossed Book Blog.  We met Arielle a couple of years ago on Goodreads and we all really hit it off.  From her fun, lively, passionate reviews to her quirky personality, we just couldn’t help but to bond with her over our shared love of books.  I mean, how couldn’t we…we like almost all the same books, the same genres…and we even fight for the affection of all the same book [husbands] boyfriends (though Chelsea likes to think she has a claim on allll the boys)!!  Like we said.  Match made in heaven!  So you can learn a little bit more about Arielle, here’s what she had to say about herself –

Hi I’m Arielle (and yes I was named after the mermaid).  I’m a dog mom and soon-to-be, first-time human mom (!!!).  I love wine (currently missing that one), being in the sunshine, coffee, and you guessed it, a good book.  I work as a public librarian in the US where part of my job is to purchase children’s and adult non-fiction.  While that can be fun and challenging, it’s definitely not where my reading passions lie.

Ever since high school I have been HOOKED on YA fiction.  From Cabot to Maas to Westerfield I have probably read close to it all.  While I don’t exclusively stick to young adult, as long as I can find something with an engaging plot, a romance of some kind, and QUALITY dialog, I will be satisfied.  Such books have helped craft who I am as a person and I know that I can easily say I would not be who I am today without them.

When I was offered an opportunity to join this blog I was ecstatic!  In the world of libraries, the process of recommending books to patrons is called reader’s advisory, and is one of the most important services that we provide.  It helps us (in my mind) spread joy.  That’s what I’d like to do here.  From my obsession with all things fantasy (and sci-fi and dystopian) to my secret trysts with the smutty stuff it’s my hope to help these wonderful ladies spread our LOVE for all things bookish.  My favorite authors include Tamora Pierce, Sarah J Maas, Nora Roberts, Alexandra Bracken, Maggie Stiefvater, and Elle Kennedy just to name a few on a VERY long list.

Please give Arielle a huge welcome.  We absolutely love her and we know that you will too!

A Special Welcome To Our Newest Star-Crossed Lady!

Hi Guys!

I hope all is well. As you all know, my posts have been far and few between-It’s been torture for me to know I am reading all these amazing books but am just TOO TIRED to write the reviews they all deserve. But, as you all ALSO know, here soon it will all be worth it-Our baby girl is due March 28th and I couldn’t be more excited-so just stick with me guys, I WILL be back!

But this post isn’t about me…it’s about an amazing reviewer I met on Goodreads last year! Her name is Brittney and she is one of the sweetest, most sincere girls I’ve ever met. We text almost every day and she never ceases to make me laugh-even on my worst days. Her reviews are fun, thoughtful, and you can really tell just how much she loves reading all the books we know and love-and then some! Her passion shines through, both in person and on her reviews, and I couldn’t be happier that she wanted to contribute to making this blog the best it can be.

As you can see on her bio, she loves losing herself in the fantasy world-princes and castles and snarky men….I mean, it’s like she’s my long lost sister! But, even better than that, she LOVES a good bad boy. Seriously. More than once I will make her read a favorite series of mine that she has yet to devour, and I’ll think she will choose my guy…but almost always she picks that damned bad boy that I forget even exists….she’s quirky like that. 😛

So, without further adieu, I introduce the beautiful, Brittney!! I think you are all going to ADORE her.

Until another time, my lovelies <3

Chelsea
