Synopsis:

They both know the pain of loss and how to protect their hearts...but fate has a way of stepping in...

Her perfectly controlled life falls apart when a kitchen fire lands young widow Elle Brooks in the muscled arms of handsome rancher and veterinarian Brody Tate. The fire forces Elle to move in with her friend Bryn and her motley collection of rescue horses and other animals on the Heaven Can Wait Horse Rescue ranch, where she volunteers. Spending time with the hunky cowboy and his spunky 10-year-old daughter, Mandy, as they rehabilitate the beautiful horses, reminds Elle of all she lost in a car crash years ago. She can't deny the feelings that being close to Brody is stirring in her.

As a widower himself, Brody puts all he has into being a good dad for his spirited daughter. He hasn't let women and romance even enter his mind, until he meets Elle. And now, this woman is all he thinks about. Spending time with her is shaking up the calm stasis he had worked so hard to achieve, but he can't seem to stay away.

Brody and Elle both know the pain of losing someone they loved, and neither planned ever to let themselves fall in love again. But fate has a way of stepping in, and what started with a small fire now burns hotter than either one could have imagined. Can these two wounded souls take a chance on each other and risk their hearts again?

Review:

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman was an emotional tale of hope, friendship, love and second chances. From that first page, this story started off with a bang and then led us down a heartfelt path. It was beautiful how laughter and tears were mixed together.  It was impossible not to fall hard for these two broken souls and their journey to healing and love.  If you love adult romance and happily ever afters, then definitely add this one to your list!

The kind of loss they had both experienced couldn’t be repaired or replaced. The ones they lost were gone forever. He swallowed back the sudden ache in his throat.

Elle Brooks kitchen caught fire and thankfully Brody Tate happened to be across the street, visiting a friend, and was able to help rescue her.  From their first interaction in this story, you could tell there was something there.  It was like fireworks went off when they were near each other.  But confession time, I had already fallen for them in A Cowboy State of Mind. While you don’t have to read that story to enjoy this one, I l recommend it also!  Elle ended up staying with her bestie, Bryn, while her house was undergoing repairs.  And everywhere Elle turned, Brody seemed to be there too.

She fit so easily into their lives, like she already belonged.

I loved Elle!  She was strong, resilient, yet she was broken from her past.  She had suffered so much loss, but had admiringly started to try and live her life again.  She became friends with Bryn, volunteered at Bryn’s horse rescue and I loved watching her find joy in life again.  While Elle didn’t think love would appear one more time, she couldn’t deny her attraction to Brody.  There were sparks between them and they connected so effortlessly.

Mandy threw her arms around Elle and pressed her face into her shoulder. “Why do the people we love have to die? It’s not fair.”
Grief ripped through Elle as she folded the girl into her arms and whispered, “No, it’s not fair, sweet girl. It’s not fair at all.”

Brody was swoon worthy!  He was a single dad to Mandy, was a veterinarian and helped with the animals at the horse rescue at times.  And while you could tell he definitely felt something towards Elle, and had so much fun with her, he was also cautious.  It was not just him he had to think about.  He didn’t want his daughter to be heartbroken if it didn’t work out.  Even though he could see how much Elle adored and cared for Mandy, he was still so hesitant.

He leaned toward her until his forehead touched hers. “I can’t seem to breathe when I’m around you.”
She nodded, fighting her own battle to breathe. “I know,” she whispered.

Both Elle and Brody were healing from the grief of losing their spouses in the past.  While there were emotional moments, there were so many happy and heartfelt ones too.  The banter between them was smile inducing and their steamy moments, oh wow, *fans face*.  I also loved how seamless they fit together.  And that included Mandy too, whether they were helping out with the animals or anything else, Elle, Brody and Mandy felt like they could become a family so easily.  But they didn’t have the easiest rode and I had tears quite a few times for the three of them.

Elle lowered her voice and tried not to smile. “Has anyone ever told you that you have a dirty mind?”
Sassy shrugged and waved away her admonishment with an exaggerated wink. “You say dirty, I say flirty.”

There was also a cast of animals and people that I fell for too.  Shamus the adorable mini-horse, Otis the trouble making goat, Tiny the pig and quite a few of the dogs!  And I have to mention there was an animal part I struggled with BUT have faith.  Jenny wouldn’t do us wrong like that is all I’m saying.  Ohhhhh and we got to see Bryn and her fiancé, Zane.  AND Aunt Sassy who I fell in love with in the Cowboy of Creedence Series!  Plus I loved, loved, loved Mandee, Body’s daughter!

Could she feel how hard his heart was beating? He blew out a sigh. He was trusting her, even though he wasn’t sure he could trust himself. All he wanted to do was give in, to let himself fall.

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman was a beautiful and emotional tale.  The love story, the healing and the friendships, awww I loved it all.  It also touched on bullying that Mandy went through, and that was so well done.  Happy tears, sad tears, broken tears fell from my eyes while reading this story and I can’t recommend it enough!

Synopsis:

After her grandmother calls her asking for help, Jocelyn drops everything and heads back home to Harmony Creek, Colorado. Her grandmother runs a living history museum: a ranch and homestead where volunteers wear clothing from the early 1900s and demonstrate how things were done in the old West, from making soap to shearing sheep. The place is in financial trouble, and it needs the revenue from the annual festival to survive.

There’s just one thing that makes this a little awkward: Mack, who’s divorced, and who’s now the caretaker and blacksmith at the homestead. Jocelyn and Mack have their own shared history, which includes both stolen kisses and teenage rivalry.

Even as the past and present collide, they have to save Harmony Ranch. Matchmaking grannies, a meddling mutt, and a flood of fun festival activities might just be enough to overcome their differences and forge two broken hearts back together.

Review:

Rescuing Harmony Ranch was a charming story filled with heart, romance and family. If you adore Hallmark movies, second chance romance and happily ever afters, then you’ll definitely want this one on your tbr!

“I miss everything about this place,” she whispered, hoping he knew she meant him too, even though she couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud.

Jocelyn Stone was forced to leave Colorado with her mom, when she was a teen, and move to NYC.  She left behind her Gram and boyfriend, Mack Talbot.  Ten years later she’s back.  And while she thought memories from her past would haunt her, she didn’t expect to see Mack.  Especially not with him living and working on Harmony Ranch.  But now they’re going to have to pull together, to save her Gram’s ranch.  And it’s the start of a brand new adventure!

They’d broken each other’s hearts— not intentionally, but it had hurt all the same. This one moment felt like a chance to heal some of that pain… to start anew.

I adored Jocelyn.  She was a hard worker who loved deeply.  The moment family needed help, she dropped everything to go take care of them.  But between her job, helping take care of her Gram and trying to save the ranch, she had her hands full.  Thankfully there was Mack to help her out.  And while they were childhood friends and then sweethearts, they could be so awkward around each other at times.  Other times they fit together so seamlessly.  You could tell that they both were interested in the other, but there was 10 years of misunderstandings in their way.  With so much that needed to be said, I wondered which one of them was going to take that first step.

“Just dance with me. Don’t think about all that other stuff. Leave the past behind us and the future ahead of us, and just be in this moment . Here. Now. With me.”
She let out a breath and relaxed in his arms. He drew her even closer and moved them around the grassy dance floor.

I screamed out loud when I realized that we also got Mack’s POV.  After just a few pages with him, I was so attached!  Mack had this gentle, soothing manner to him, but you could tell that his emotions ran strongly through his veins.  Especially since he seemed to remember everything from their past.  And the way he was thoughtful, kind and considerate to Jocelyn, it all melted my heart!  But my heart also broke for Mack, he knew that Jocelyn was going to leave again.  Just like last time.  I kept the hope alive and my fingers crossed.  Ohhhh and I absolutely loved Mack’s dog, Savage!  He was the hugest sweetie ever and his antics had me constantly smiling when he was on the pages.

He held her gaze, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. “I would do anything for you.”
She sucked in a sharp inhale at the intensity of his words.

There was a gaping hole between Jocelyn and Mack that they needed to work through.  But both of their Grandmothers, who were also best friends, loved to meddle.  I enjoyed watching them try to discreetly push Mack and Jocelyn together.  But trying to save the ranch also did that too. Shared meals, brainstorming meetings, dancing by the lake and so much more captivated me.  Not only did I find myself rooting for the ranch to be saved, but for Jocelyn and Mack to be together too.

“When is the last time you let your heart decide?”
She swallowed. “Never.”
“Maybe it’s time you gave your heart a chance.”

Romance lovers will be delighted with Rescuing Harmony Ranch!  This story was so adorable and a lot of fun.  I couldn’t stop smiling at their antics and everything that unfolded.  And I kept thinking that this would be the perfect Hallmark movie!  If you’re a fan of romance that is sweet, there’s a great chance you’ll fall hard for this book too!

And when a chance encounter with a horse headed for slaughter brings Zane and Bryn together, they find themselves given a chance to save not just the horse, but maybe each other...

Review:

With small town charm, characters that were easy to love and a story line that melted my heart, A Cowboy State of Mind had it all!  I laughed, cried and swooned hard.  So if you love cowboys and romance, then you definitely need to look at adding this one to your tbr!

“It was nothing.”
It hadn’t been nothing to her. It had been everything.

I had already fallen hard for Zane Taylor in Wish Upon a CowboyHe was quiet and loyal.  And I loved that he stepped up and helped when needed.  He was such a good person.  Plus I adored his border collie, that he claimed wasn’t his, but he still let her sleep in his bed at night ha!  But my heart bled for Zane.  Other judged him by his scar.  And his upbringing and current situation with his dad made my heart hurt for him.  Thankfully, there was lots of brightness in his life.  Especially anytime he was around Bryn.

She was done saving others. She wanted security and stability. Safety. And when it came to being around Zane Taylor, her heart was anything but safe.

Zane was already head over heels in lust with Bryn, and I couldn’t blame him.  I adored her too!    Bryn Callahan was a kind hearted, quirky, lovable woman who I instantly connected with.  She truly had the biggest heart ever and took in strays without a second thought.  When she saved a horse’s life, that brought Zane back into her life.  And while you could tell that they both liked each other, Bryn tried her best not to get attached.  Zane was supposed to leave the state for work.  But the heart wants what the heart wants.

He didn’t know what to say, how to put into words what her words meant to him. All he could do was show her. He pressed his lips to hers and kissed her with everything in him.

Their love of animals brought Zane and Bryn together again and again.  And I loved that we got to hear both of their thoughts!  Their romance was sweet and slow, but the sexier moments were oh so hot!  But they had a lot of obstacles in their way, besides Zane leaving town.  Like Bryn’s past, her family to Zane not having the best faith in himself.  I just wanted to take all of the distractions away and push them together.  Because anytime they were around the other, it was fabulous!

“That’s the thing about love. We don’t ask for it, but sometimes we get it anyway.”

A Cowboy State of Mind should have easily been a 4.5/5 Star rating for me.  But I struggled with this book.  I’m overly sensitive to animals being in dangerous situations or hurt.  And don’t worry, spoiler alert, all the animals ended up perfectly fine.  But my little girl dog had been sick for months.  So I struggled greatly reading about hurt animals while she was snuggled up next to me extremely sick.  I truly couldn’t handle the animal parts at all, and would put this book down for days to even weeks at a time.  Many, many times.  I’m sure I’m an anomaly, but I wanted to explain why my heart couldn’t fully be in this story.

He brushed her hair back from her forehead, his gaze intense and deep as he stared into her eyes. “The fallin’ is easy, darlin ’. It’s the jumpin’ that takes the strength of will.”
She swallowed, emotion suddenly thickening her throat, as if her body knew that he wasn’t just talking about the ledge. She was already falling, and falling hard, for Zane Taylor, but was she really ready to jump headlong into this thing with him?
He dipped his head and kissed the side of her neck, the scruff of his whiskered chin scraping the delicate skin. She tipped her head back and sighed as she fell.

A Cowboy State of Mind had a happy ending for all, four and three legged animals included.  And I adored Zane and Bryn.  If you love romances that have sexy cowboys in them, heartwarming characters and animals and a story line that will make you root for HEAs, then definitely check this one out.  Jennie Marts is always a huge hit for me, I was just too sensitive with the topic of this book, to make this one a favorite.

Synopsis:

Hot on the ice and tall in the saddle...

Rancher and hockey coach Logan Rivers' attempts to hire a housekeeper are hindered by women more interested in marriage than meal-planning. So when snarky Harper Evans arrives with zero romantic interest in him, he couldn't be happier. But as he gets to know her, he finds himself hungering for more than her cooking.

Down-on-her-luck single mom Harper Evans came to Colorado with one goal: to find her son and bring him home. Temporary work for a local rancher seems perfect, but to keep the job she has to deny her feelings for the hot cowboy who's heating up her kitchen.

Logan's secret learning disability has caused a financial mistake that could cost him everything. With the holidays approaching and a storm closing in, he and Harper have to save his ranch and fight for her son. But can Harper trust the cowboy who is offering her both a home―and his heart?

Review:

Wish Upon a Cowboy was sweet, sexy and filled with small town charm, friendships and second chances.  With holiday moments sprinkled throughout this story, my Christmas loving self was bursting with joy!  Especially in the latter half, I loved it so much.  With tons of heart, I found myself smiling long after I finished that last page.  So if you love Christmas miracles and happy endings for all, definitely add this one to your tbr!

She needed a star right now— needed something to guide her, to lead her to her deepest desire. She felt more lost than she’d ever been.
She stared into the lights of the tree and prayed for guidance and wisdom and for something to give her hope to hold on to.

Harper Evans was someone I instantly liked.  She was a kind hearted woman, yet her past cast a shadow on how she saw herself.  She made a mistake, went to jail and had to spend a few months away from her son.  She was desperate to get back on her feet and have her son in her life, so she traveled to the cute little town of Creedence, Colorado.  Within those first few pages we got to see how big Harper’s heart was and how she was always trying to help others.  I was so happy when she ended up getting a job working for Logan Rivers.  It looked like her luck was finally starting to turn around.

She set something off inside him, something that made him want to flirt with her, to win her over with his charm and coax that sexy smile onto her face.

I was already infatuated with Logan Rivers from Caught Up in a Cowboy.  And while this book can easily be read as a standalone, I definitely recommend picking up the rest of the books in the Cowboys of Creedence Series.  So Logan was sexy, strong and determined.  He worked on his family’s ranch and the hot cowboy even had me laughing out loud at his cheesy humor.  With just firing his house keeper and his ranch hand, Logan was in desperate need of some help.  Especially since his dad was out of town for an extended time.  The ranch was all on him.  Harper seemed like the perfect solution, she was effective, did an amazing job and helped take a load of stress off of Logan right away.

He lowered his tone as he looked into her eyes. “I think we make a good team.”
“We do,” she whispered, then looked away as if his words embarrassed her.

Logan and Harper were instantly attracted to each other.  Yet she needed to focus on her job, so she could get her son back.  Harper definitely didn’t have time for romance in her life.  And Logan made a huge mistake when it came to his family’s ranch, so he needed to focus on his job.  And with Harper leaving in a few weeks or so, he shouldn’t get attached.  While they both tried to ignore what was between them, it was impossible to do.  Especially when it felt effortless for them to form a friendship and anytime they were near each other, sparks were flying.

What was she doing? Her sole purpose for being here was to get Floyd and get out of Dodge, not to get involved with a smart-mouthed cowboy, no matter how hot that cowboy was or how delicious his mouth tasted.

Wish Upon a Cowboy had so much heart in the pages.  It was also a story about a mom and her son’s love.  Of friendships being formed.  Getting second chances.  And a community pulling together while Christmas was in the air.  And with adorable side characters like Nacho the mama cat, Star the wonder cow and Otis who I won’t say what he was lol, oh my goodness, this book was absolutely adorable!  It was topped off with a meddlesome grandma, peppermint schnapps and a winter storm!

Her breath came out in a harsh gasp. “I’m nothing. You deserve more than someone like me.”
“I don’t deserve you. But I want you. With every part of my soul.”

Wish Upon a Cowboy was a beautiful story about forgiveness, happiness and finding love. It was impossible not to have some happy tears towards the end of this book.   Plus I loved that we got to see some of our favorites from the previous books.  So if you love Hallmark Christmas movies because they’re smile inducing, give you all the feels and have the best endings ever, you definitely have to check this book out.  I’m so thankful that Logan got his own story and the fact that it was during the holidays made it absolutely perfect!

Maybe he believed in miracles after all.

Synopsis:

What will this cowboy risk for love?

Colt James is back home on the family ranch, and he's done taking risks. A car accident ruined his shot at a professional hockey career and messed up his love life, and he's not taking a chance on anything that seems too good to be true. Especially not on Chloe Bishop, his nephew's irresistibly charming teacher and the one woman he can't stop thinking about.

Chloe Bishop liked her life the way it was—orderly, structured and safe. Life goes from managed to messy when Colt talks her into helping him coach a hockey team of rowdy eight-year-olds. Being this close to the cowboy she's crushing on is dangerous territory. But when a real enemy threatens Chloe, Colt will do anything to protect her. Even if it means risking himself—and his heart.

Review:

It Started With a Cowboy was smile inducing, absolutely adorable and oh so hot.  If you aren’t familiar with Jennie Marts, she writes romance stories that pull at your heart and make you feel like you’re watching a new favorite movie.  The story always flows so smoothly and even the side characters are well thought out. And while I have fallen in love with this series, about brothers who are hockey playing cowboys, I have a confession.  This easily became my favorite Jennie Marts book!

“What is your type?” He leaned in, just the slightest, the fishing line drawing him closer.
She gazed up at him, her eyes wide. Her lips parted as she inhaled another soft breath, and he imagined how her mouth would taste, how her body would feel if he pulled her against him and crushed her lips with his.

This can definitely be read as a standalone, but if you haven’t read Caught Up in a Cowboy or You Had Me at Cowboy, I recommend you do.  Each book is about one of the brothers, and you fall more in love with this family as the series progresses.  This time around we got to hear from the youngest brother, Colt James. He not only helps out at his family’s ranch, but also around town too.  And in the last book, we saw him flirting with Chloe Bishop, who is his nephew’s teacher.

Something about Chloe Bishop was poking the edges of his heart, as if looking for a soft place to sneak in. And he could feel those rough edges giving in— not breaking, but bending a little each time she offered him a bashful smile.

Ladies, you have to meet Colt James.  He was swoon worthy, sexy, charming and I just wanted to steal him out of this book.  I loved his friendly, easy-going nature but his past made him cautious.  Colt lost the chance to be in the NHL and the girl he loved because of a bad decision.  It hurt my heart to see how he viewed himself because of his past actions. Especially since he was one of the good guys.  Colt always helped others out and his actions showed how sweet, thoughtful and kind-hearted he was. He deserved someone who would see how wonderful he was and I kept hope that Chloe would be that woman.

He’d picked her up like she weighed nothing , and she’d wanted to cuddle against him, wanted to bury her face in his neck and inhale the scent of his aftershave. Heck, she’d wanted to lick him and claim him as hers.

Chloe Bishop was a sweetheart who lived a quiet life that was filled with teaching, her cat and knitting while binge watching Netflix.  She went above and beyond with her students and you could tell she had a heart of gold.  But just like Colt, her past made her doubt her worth. I wanted to reach into this story and give her the hugest hug ever and tell her she was enough and deserved love.  Especially when she thought Colt was helping her out, just because he was nice, and that was how he treated everyone.

“But I don’t know anything about the rules or how to play. I don’t even know how to score.”
A playful grin covered his face. “I can teach you how to score.”

Life ended up pushing Colt and Chloe together right from the start.  And when Chloe agreed to help Colt coach a hockey team of 8 year olds, they were around each other even more.  Yet Chloe could be so awkward, since she didn’t have a lot of experience with guys. But that didn’t matter because Chloe and Colt could be so funny together.  The banter between them felt effortless, even if Chloe had to work at it. But then those funny and sweet moments would shift and I’d find myself smiling for an entirely different reason or sighing out loud.  Like when they baked cupcakes, who knew that could become so hot! *fans face*

She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t move, as heat and want surged through her veins. It had been so long since a man had touched her lips, and the soft pressure of his thumb against her chin felt more delicious than a thousand tastes of chocolate.

While this is a love story, it also has a strong family feel.  I absolutely adored the James family and their dinners or get togethers had me laughing so hard.  Plus I heart Aunt Sassy, that woman is so much fun! So yes, I absolutely loved this book. It Started with a Cowboy is perfect for those who love swoon worthy romance that will make you smile and laugh.  And even if cowboys aren’t your thing, this is the best book to dip your toes into their world.  I can’t recommend it enough!

“What if I fall?” she whispered.
“It’s okay to fall.” He gazed down at her, his expression sincere, and it felt like he was talking about something else, something deeper.

PS I’m totally going to beg on my knees, can Logan please get a story?  I know he’s not a James brother, but he’s close enough. I’d love to watch him get his HEA.  Please?  Pretty please?
