Synopsis:

I was issued a warning: stay away from Ben Rosenberg.

As Clifton Cove’s resident “king”, he thinks he’s entitled to anyone and anything.

The trouble is, I’ve spent my whole life following the rules and playing it safe. I know what it feels like to be the good girl. I’m the police chief’s daughter and a librarian—for adorable children, no less.

An all-nighter with a fictional hunk is about as exciting as my life gets until one day, fate decides to take pity on me and shove me straight into the path of Mr. Off-Limits himself.

Just as I suspected, every inch of him promises to be my demise. Up close, he’s tall, menacing—a lawyer who looks like he’ll bite. A well-behaved girl would do as she’s told and avoid him at all costs, but I’m overdue for a little rebellion.

So, I ignore the warning and throw caution to the wind. But Ben doesn’t just nudge me out of my comfort zone—he thrusts me into a dark corner and presses his hard body against mine, covering my mouth with his hand to ensure we don’t get caught sneaking around. In that moment, I finally understand why everyone thinks he’s going to ruin me.

To him, this is all a game.
He wants to tempt me with his dares and taunt me with his words.
I should play along. After all, I asked him to make me bad. I just never thought he’d take his job quite so seriously...

Review:

“Eli! Ahem, Eli!”

I turn to see a short elderly woman holding a book outstretched toward the guy talking my ear off.
“Eli,” she says, tone stern, chin raised. “This book has a tear right down the first page. I think it’s only fair that I get to keep it—for free.”
I turn back in time to see Eli roll his eyes. “That’s the fifth book this month. Mrs. Taylor, if you keep tearing up our books, we’re going to cut up your library card.”

That’s it. I can now say without a doubt that if you’re looking for a feel good romantic comedy, R. S. Grey is the one for you. While they’re all not mind blowingly life-changing, you can be sure that they have all warmed my heart and have made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions. This book is no exception and I’m so glad I picked it up as a cure to my Red, White & Royal Blue hangover.

“What kind of law do you practice again?” I ask, perusing his suit.
He squeezes my hand and then lets it drop. “Corporate.”
“Pity. You look like you should be putting criminals behind bars. Very intimidating today, like you’ll bite.”

I felt like I easily connected to this book (and especially Madison) for a few different reasons. For one, I also work in a library as a librarian–though I do have a few thoughts on that later. For another, I had a pretty strict family and while I moved out of my house as soon as I was in college, I can sympathize with Madison’s inner struggles when it came to being torn over becoming “bad” and living life but also not wanting to disappoint make any waves with her dad and brother.

Quickly back to the library aspect–while I always get really excited when I find out there’s a librarian character, I feel like there are a lot of times when I can clearly tell that the author doesn’t quite know what it is that a librarian ~does~. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure Grey has either been to a library or did some research because it wasn’t far off base–there were just some aspects that felt off to me. I’m probably just being picky though. If the library that Madison worked at was smaller, then her wide range of duties make sense to me. If it was bigger, then no??? Like it seemed like she was doing story times, other children’s programs, working the help desk, shelving books–basically a LOT of stuff. There’s no way that if that library served a good sized community that she would have the time to do all of that stuff. BUT I DIGRESS. That stuff is only going *maybe* going to bother a person who works as a librarian haha. It’s such a small thing I easily ignored it. Especially when Madison had such killer story times and made Ben dress up as Mr. Darcy lollll.

“Are you almost done?” I ask. My voice sounds like it came out of a mouse.
“Not if you don’t stand still.
His hands grip my waist and he squeezes.
Apparently, I’m fidgeting. Hot. Bothered.
He ties the laces together at the bottom and steps back.
I turn around and hold out my arms. “What do you think?”
He clears his throat, glances away, and when he looks back, his gaze is narrowed. “I think it’s a little much for a toddler story time.”
I glance down and laughter erupts out of me. “Oh jeez.”
My breasts have been pushed up and forced together to form a tantalizing amount of cleavage. Even I’m slightly turned on by the sight. I look like a serving wench.

Ben was definitely a very enjoyable hero. I always like a good story line where the guy “teaches” the heroine sexy times or in this case–how to be bad. I mean, in Madison’s case the stuff wasn’t even that bad…it more of like she just wanted to live. I loved their texts and how Ben egged her on. The scene when she was getting her tattoo and he was drawing words on her hand with his finger WAS ADORABLE. He was wonderfully serious and occasionally grumpy which I always weirdly like, too haha. I am also happy to report that this is another instance of a good love story where there is no “misunderstanding” between the two. Gosh I have really come to hate that. Overall, very sweet, hilarious, and a quick read. Basically if you’re ever in need of a pick me up or are on a beach somewhere wanting a string of light reads, all of her books are for you!

“Ugh, do I have to go?”
It really is embarrassing.
Ben stands and hooks his hands under my arms, forcing me. “C’mon, I’ll help you.”
We all know what that means. We’ve seen the movies. Ben’s going to stand behind me a little too close, touch me a little inappropriately, all in the name of sport. And, of course, because our friends are all mature adults, they whistle and catcall us as Ben moves up behind me.
“Oh yeah, Ben, show her how it’s done,” Andy says.
Ben flips him off.
“Oh, I’m not sure, Ben—do I stand like this?” Arianna mocks and okay, she’s funny, and I like her. Also, how dare she?

Synopsis:

A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.

Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.

When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.

My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.

Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.

Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.

Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.

Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.

Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.

Review:

Be glad I’m with you.
Be glad I’m with you.

He was holding my head under water, and I didn’t drown, didn’t break. I grew gills.

As Kevin says to Dwight when they show up at his bar during Dwight’s bachelor party during the finale, “Well, well, well, well, well, well.” (I’m pretty sure after reading like three Office references that Grey must also be a rabid fan like myself) I found another winner, guys!!!! I don’t know about everyone else but I LOVE when I find a romance author who has consistently great/ HILARIOUS writing, especially when they already have quite a few books out. I had read a few of her books previously, one being a hit and one a miss, and I just didn’t feel like venturing forth into more for a while. THAT IS until I signed up for a free month’s trial to Kindle Unlimited and basically all of her books are free muahahah.

“Oh I’m sorry, Alfred! I just realized I didn’t give you any. How rude of me to bring it up.”
He forgives me because he’s a dog and he doesn’t speak English. Also, I think he’s my best friend.

Anywayyyys this particular book is about Meredith and Jack. Meredith is a woman who came from a well off family and married a well off man straight out of college. She really hasn’t had to ever work for anything in her entire life until the day/night she decides to finally leave her emotionally abusive/manipulative sleezeball of a husband and run to Texas where her half-sister lives. When she finds that her sister is in fact halfway across the world on a vacation because her house is being renovated, she is forced to take a job at Jack’s ranch. Jack is a hot, prickly cowboy who would really rather not have Meredith around. He’s heard from Meredith’s sister about how she’s never had to work a day in her life and has probably just left her husband to get attention of some kind. Obviously that all changes once the two actually get to know each other/ each other’s stories.

Alfred follows after me, acting as my accomplice, and together, we hightail it back to the shack. Once we’re inside, I slam the door closed and press my back against it. Mission: Possible, apparently.
I glace down at my bounty. I managed to nab a bottle of Jack Daniels. Fitting. I pour myself a bit and barf a little in my mouth when I take my first sip.
“It’s so bad,” I tell Alfred, trying to keep the rest of it down.
He looks at me with sad, questioning eyes as if to say, Hmm, and I thought you weren’t a little bitch.

There were so many things to love about this book:
-Meredith’s tenacity to prove to Jack that she can work her butt off and that she isn’t just some rich, flighty girl who left her husband because she was somehow bored or unhappy
-Alfred the golden retriever who sounds exactly like my dopey golden named Oakley
-Jack’s grandma, Edith, who is a hilarious angel sent from above
-Jack and his prickliness and how he obviously is a big softy on the inside and once he hears Meredith’s story he immediately believes her like no one else ever has
-Sexy scenes that will make you blush
-Meredith getting to tell off her horrible husband and being extremely brave about it and realizing her self-worth
-More Alfred
-More Edith
-Super adorable epilogue

I have one thought before I reach her: if there have to be consequences, make them all worth it.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Synopsis:

"Oh my god. Who is that?"
I get asked this question a lot.
"Oh him?" I reply. "That's just Ian."

Just Ian is the biggest understatement of the century.
Just the Mona Lisa. Just the Taj Mahal. Just Ian, with his boring ol' washboard abs and dime-a-dozen dimpled smile.

Just Ian is... just my best friend.

We're extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at works assumes we're a couple - that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher's lounge that he's single. Fair game. Suddenly, it's open season on Ian.

He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine.

He's turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into x-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.

I want to assume he's playing a prank on me, just pushing my buttons like always - but when Ian lifts me onto the desk in my classroom and slides his hands up my skirt, he doesn't leave a lot of room for confusion.

I'm a little scared of things going south, of losing my best friend because I can't keep my hands to myself. So, I'm just going to back away and not return this earth-shattering kiss - oh who am I kidding?!

Goodbye Ian, ol' buddy, ol' pal!

Helloooo mister not so nice guy.

Review:

SAM: TY for breakfast. Coffee is LIT.
IAN: It’s the new blend you bought last week. Are your students teaching you new words again?
SAM: I heard it yesterday. I’m not sure when to use it yet. Will report back.

BAAHHAAHAH alright folks this is one funniest romances I have ever read. Like it’s up there at Sally Thorne status which in my world is a PRETTY BIG DEAL. I swear to God I haven’t spent as much time laughing at a book in I don’t know how long. And I mean, this might sound stupid because who doesn’t, but I LOVE laughing. Like it makes me light and giddy and even just having one good laugh a day can turn a completely shitty mood into a brighter one instantly. The fact that I spent nearly the entire book laughing—well you can just imagine how I felt the last day then, can’t you?

ALSO, BONUS, the friends-to-lovers trope is one that I will never in a million years be sick of. This one was just done perfectly. I literally have no complaints.

For 1300 days, I’ve been best friends with Ian Fletcher, and for 1300 days, I’ve convinced myself I’m not really in love with him.

Sam and Ian are best friends who both teach at the same school together. They started on the same exact day and failed their orientation together and had to retake it, much to their to their mortification which = friendship cemented. The best part about this book in relation to this kind of trope is that we learn right away that BOTH of them were secretly in love with each other but thinks the other just wants to be friends. They both have POVs and both of them start out with their own reasons why they think the other doesn’t like them like that. Right off the bat, hilarious. They’re so deep into a best friendship though (shared meal and Netflix subscription, inside jokes, hanging out every second of every day basically) that every other faculty member of their school assumes they’re together until a new long term sub asks Sam if Ian’s single. Open season on both of them commences.

We’re talking through our curriculum for the sex-ed course tomorrow morning. Most if it’s preplanned for us, but Sam wants to be extra prepared.
“Why don’t you just grab a condom or two from your house for the demonstration?” she asks. “Oh Wait, will they still unroll if they’re all expired and dried up? Don’t want to embarrass ourselves in front of the kids.”
“Hilarious. Make sure to bring your 55-gallon barrel of lube.”
“Ha. Why me—don’t you keen any around?”
 she asks, truly perplexed.
“I don’t usually need it.”
“Oh because the women who make it into your house are just gushing Niagara Fallses 24/7?”
“24 is a stretch. I’d say it’s only during the act, so, three, usually four hours.”

She snorts. “Ooookay Casanova, let’s hope you’re keeping these mythical moist maidens properly hydrated. Jesus, I hope you offer them a Gatorade on the way out.”

Next, that sexual tension tho. I love me some good, intense, drawn out sexual tension. This book 100% delivered. *shivers* From getting a little too close while dying hair to the ~certain~ phone conversation…..I may have been blushing.  I loved the way they danced around their feelings for a good chunk of this book but obviously loved it even more when he straight up told her how he felt and that he wanted to pursue something.  She may have been unsure  because their friendship was so important to her but I was glad he just laid it all on the line.  There wasn’t any guessing about feelings.  They were either going to go for it or they weren’t.

“Petite thing? Read hair? Yeah, she was here—almost had to kick her out. She was high on drugs, came in and made a mess of the place.”
What the fuck?
“Did you see where she went when she left?”
“Probably to get more horse tranquilizers.”

Finally, that ending. I could see some people maybe not liking it? But with these two…I loved the proposal, I loved the rush to just do it, I loved where they did it and that they had to literally run out to avoid being fined, and I loved how desperate they were to get up to the hotel and with everything that happened after…A situation that would have felt weird and rushed in any other instance, these two had been so close for three years that in all honesty, the way things panned out here just fit. I also loved Sam’s enthusiasm afterwards with everything..just how excited she was to be Mrs. Fletcher and buy groceries and go shopping for THEIR house. She was crazy and I loved it. Also loved the epilogue too. ♥ HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This is the best book I’ve read by Grey to date.

You’re mine and you don’t even know it. I’ve never told you.
