Synopsis:

One Christmas wish, two brothers, and a lifetime of hope are on the line for hapless Maelyn Jones in In a Holidaze, the quintessential holiday romantic novel by Christina Lauren, the New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…but not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions.

But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the world—the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families. Mentally melting down as she drives away from the cabin for the final time, Mae throws out what she thinks is a simple plea to the universe: Please. Show me what will make me happy.

The next thing she knows, tires screech and metal collides, everything goes black. But when Mae gasps awake…she’s on an airplane bound for Utah, where she begins the same holiday all over again. With one hilarious disaster after another sending her back to the plane, Mae must figure out how to break free of the strange time loop—and finally get her true love under the mistletoe.

Jam-packed with yuletide cheer, an unforgettable cast of characters, and Christina Lauren’s trademark “downright hilarious” (Helen Hoang, author of The Bride Test) hijinks, this swoon-worthy romantic read will make you believe in the power of wishes and the magic of the holidays.

Review:

In a Holidaze was brimming with Christmas cheer, family, laughter and love!  From that first chapter I felt like I was watching a movie.  It all played out so vividly in my head.  So I couldn’t help but gasp, laugh out loud and fall madly in love with this book.  If you’re looking for a fun Christmas story that has romance in the pages, then definitely add this one to your tbr!

What am I doing with my life? Please. I want…
I’m not even sure how to finish the sentence. I want to be happy, and I’m petrified that the path I’m on now is going to leave me bored and alone.
So I ask the universe, simply: Can you show me what will make me happy?

Every single Christmas, Mae’s family got together with her parent’s college best friends and their families.  They celebrated the holidays together in the mountains and were so close knit.  They loved each other deeply and had so many rituals and activities that they looked forward to each year.  Except this year…..Mae messed up big time. And with it looking like this would be their last time together, Mae’s heart was bleeding.  But then, her whole life got turned upside down and inside out.  With a touch of magic, that reminded me of Groundhogs Day, I had absolutely no clue what was going to happen next!

The display says that today is December 20. But this morning was December 26.
“Wow.” I lean back, looking around. Panic presses in at the edges of my vision, turning the world black and fuzzy.
Breathe, Mae.

I loved Maelyn Jones, aka Mae, right away.  She was resilient, caring, and followed her heart.  It was so easy to feel everything right along with her.  So when life got crazy, I more than understood why she lost it.  Seriously, what in the world was going on?!  How many times would she have to repeat certain moments?  And while I felt her anguish and suffering, I couldn’t help but laugh throughout this whole ordeal.  They were so many hilarious moments!

I want to capture this moment. I want to put it in a snow globe and be able to see it just like this, forever.

The romance in this story was slow and addictive.  And I found myself falling in love right along with them.  Well technically Mae already had loved Andrew forever, but you’ll see what I mean.  Andrew had been friends with Mae practically his whole life.  He always saw her as a friend, but with magic or was it fate intervening, I kept my fingers crossed he’d start to see her in another light.  You guys, Andrew was most definitely book boyfriend material!  He was sexy, patient, thoughtful, sweet and kind.  And I loved how he always paid attention to Mae.

His eyes sparkle, and sensation zips up my spine. I swear he’s never looked at me like this, like he’s seeing me for the first time.

With sledding, picking out a Christmas tree, making snow critters, mistletoe and more, I loved all of the Christmas festivities in the pages!   It added to the fun of how the story played out and I kept finding myself smiling and laughing out loud.  On top of Mae and Andrew, we had their families, another family and then Benny.  I loved, loved, loved Benny!  He was their parent’s best friend who gave me this Cheech and Chong mixed with Mr Rogers persona lol!  Bennie warmed my heart and made me feel like Mae was safe. He was someone she could trust and confide in during these crazy times thank goodness.

His breath comes out warm against my neck, voice shaking: “It never occurred to me that you might be mine.”

It was so easy to fall in love with these characters and their story!  And it ended with an epilogue that had all of my hopes and dreams swirled together. Seriously.  It was that fabulous!  So if you’re looking for a Christmas story, or a romance that will make you smile, laugh and fall in love then definitely pick this one up!  I’m so glad I did!

Going still, he breathes in uneven bursts against my neck. “I’ve loved you my whole life, but this new thing…” He sucks in a deep breath. “It’s amazing and scary.”

PS I actually went into this book with NO knowledge at all, besides my co-blogger Arielle saying it was a must read. The hold at my library was 13 weeks out and I was number 17 on the wait list lol. I was emotionally not in a great place at all, so when I got a notice that Chelsea, my other co-blogger, gifted me this book, I cried all the happy tears and started it right away! *All the Christmas hugs Chelsea‘s way, I love you!*

Synopsis:

USA TODAY Bestselling authors Claudia Burgoa and Grahame Claire bring you an enchanting holiday romance that’s sweet and full of light.

Audrey’s boss gave her one objective—head to the small town of Winter Valley, and acquire that bed and breakfast the company has had their eye on forever. A big sale like this could change her career . . . and she’s the only one who could convince the owner to make the deal.

On her way, she crashes into the truck of sexy, unavailable, single Dad Colin Bradford. The repairs won’t be done until Christmas Eve, so she’s stuck in Winter Valley until her car is fixed.

There’s something magical about being in a small town at Christmas. Life is slower than her hectic job in the city. She finds herself falling for Winter Valley . . . and for Colin.

Though acquiring that bed and breakfast is much harder than she planned . . . Amidst all the hot chocolate, snowflakes, and silent nights, Audrey has a choice to make. Could Colin end up being her Christmas miracle?

Review: Holiday With You was a Christmas story that was filled with romance, secrets, and a lot of fun. With warmth and charm in the pages, this book was such an easy, quick read. So if you’re looking for a Hallmark book to pick up, then you’ll want add this one to your tbr!
This is the nightmare before Christmas. And I’m dressed like a unicorn.
Audrey’s demanding boss sent her out of state, before the holidays, to acquire a B&B in the adorable town of Winter Valley. Along with the message that she was not to return until she had acquired the B&B that wasn’t for sale. Upon arriving to town, she crashed into Colin, a local single dad. And with repairs on her vehicle not being completed until Christmas Eve, she was stuck there where she kept running into Colin and his delightful family during her stay.
“Welcome to the chaos.” He brushes his thumb across my cheek. Briefly, I close my eyes , savoring every millisecond of his touch. It’s powerful. More so than it should be since we’re practically strangers.
I absolutely loved how Aubrey and Colin met! You could tell that they were both attracted and interested in each other right away. However they seemed to prioritize other things in their lives, as more important than love. With Colin’s daughter and Aubrey’s job being their main focuses, I wondered how they could be pushed together. But with a family and townspeople that couldn’t help but meddle, and a place that had all the Christmas charm in the world, it was a lot of fun watching them come together.
“Unicorn.” There’s so much emotion behind the word that it sounds as if it’s been yanked from his soul. I’m afraid to look too deep into the meaning. I’m terrified I won’t hear what I want to. That I won’t see what I want to see.
Colin was my favorite in this story! He was kind, thoughtful, loved deeply and was the most amazing dad ever. His four year old daughter, Perry, was so easy to love too. Watching them interact was so sweet. And the rest of his family was endearing too. It seemed like there was a lot of potential for future books with his siblings *fingers crossed*. But one of my favorite things about Colin was how he called Aubrey unicorn. And each time he did, it made me smile so huge.
Maybe there’s more out there than I thought. Maybe I can have more.
Audrey was a determined person, with a kind heart, who loved her job. While trying to figure out who owned the bed and breakfast, she kept finding reasons why this town made her happy. Which was needed, since it seemed like Audrey was missing joy in her life. And a lot of her newfound joy had to do with Colin. I loved their chemistry and how it added a spark into her life! And I cherished how Audrey, Colin and Perry fit so well together. Their moments were so sweet and precious. But Audrey was heading back home. Her life was in California, not in Winter Valley.
I belong. It’s a dangerous thought, one I should snuff out faster than I can say candle . . . but my heart grips onto it with everything it has.
So with snow, cookies, and lots of holiday charm, this book was so heartwarming. I enjoyed how family played such a big roll and it was impossible not to love the quaint town this story took place in. And if you adore epilogues, like I do, you’re in for a treat. This one made my heart so happy. If you’re looking for a holiday read or adore the Hallmark movie, Let it Snow with Candace Cameron Bure, then definitely add this one to your list! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. Synopsis:

The challenge: Kiss your best friend.

Sixteen-year-old Anne Elliot is in love with Captain.

He's been her best friend for years. A rising musician with a special smile he reserves just for her, Captain even lets Anne practice her makeup skills on him—though his bandmates give him flack for it.

When Anne gets an anonymous comment challenging her to kiss her best friend, it threatens to reveal her secret. But how can she resist doing the one thing she's wanted forever? It's just one kiss. She and Captain's relationship can stay the same…right?

The real challenge: Kiss your best friend, and don't let him know you're in love.

This YA romance novella is fun, fast-paced, and flirty, the perfect story for anyone who loves best-friends-to-lovers. Inspired by TikTok & Jane Austen, THE KISSING CHALLENGE is sure to make you swoon!

Review:

The Kissing Challenge quickly pulled me in and was impossible to put down!  With a girl I wanted as a bestie, a guy who I was obsessed with, a group of friends I wanted to be a part of and a story line that was so much fun, it was no surprise that I read this book in one sitting.  If you love YA romances that are swoon worthy and smile inducing, then definitely add this one to your tbr!  I can’t recommend it enough!

Captain wasn’t just any guy. He was the love of my life. I’d tried so many times to stop loving him, tried to like different guys, but no one could ever compare. He was my penguin.

Anne had been in love with her best friend forever.  But Captain didn’t see her that way.  When she got an online challenge to kiss her best friend, she knew she couldn’t back down.  She hadn’t said no to a challenge yet, so I was just as nervous as she was!  You guys, I loved Anne right away.  She was open, kind, brave and extremely talented when it came to makeup.  And Captain was good hearted to let her practice on him.

His big hand cupped my face with the utmost gentleness, like he was holding something precious. My eyes opened, and as he looked at me, the weight of what I’d just done came crashing down.
“Oh my God,” I gasped.

Cookie O’Gorman writes male characters that I desperately want to steal from the pages!  So Captain consumed me and I loved him so much!  He played guitar in a band and was beyond sexy, patient and such a good friend to Anne.  He truly cared for her and his mannerisms and words captured my attention.  I was beyond obsessed anytime he was on the pages!

But he’d kissed me with such emotion and heat. I hadn’t known my best friend was capable of that— at least not with me. It had felt real.
The thing was… I couldn’t decide whether that was the truth or wishful thinking.

Anytime Captain and Anne were together, I couldn’t knock the smile off of my face!  They were so fabulous together and there was so much laughter in the pages.  I constantly felt giddy.  The excitement that thrummed through me kept my heart oh so happy.  And the kisses?!  The kisses in these pages were SO hot *fans face*!  Cookie O’Gorman writes the most sigh worthy kisses!  But I was nervous with how it was all going to play out, since they had always been just friends.

He lifted his hand in response and pushed a strand of my hair back behind my ear. The light touch made me shiver.
“There’s only one girl I see,” he said while gazing down at me.
It made my heart skip.

On top of Anne and Captain, I adored the side characters!  Everyone just felt so real to me!  Like Gemma, Anne’s bestie.  Their friendship was adorable and I loved Gemma, even when she meddled in Anne’s life.  But hey, what are friends for, ha!  And Captain’s band-mates….ohh I feel like they could each have their own story.  Especially Knight and Liam, they intrigued me the most and I wanted to know all their secrets!

My best friend smiled, and it was as if my soul took flight. Looking into his eyes, I said the only thing that was left to say.
“Kiss me, Captain.”
And he did.

If you’re looking for an adorable and sigh worthy book, then look no further, The Kissing Challenge is it!  Fans of friends to lovers and YA romance will fall in love with this story!  The amount of emotions that were packed into this novella blew my mind!  I could have easily read a full book about Anne and Captain and their time together ♥.

EXCERPT: Loverboy (The Company #2) by Sarina Bowen

I'm so excited to share an excerpt from Sarina Bowen's latest book, Loverboy, out December 1st. I loved Gunnar and Posy's bickering and banter and both their steamy tension and the constant mention of lattes and pie left hungry for more!

Synopsis:

Secrets, desires, and exquisite pie. It’s all in a day’s work at The Company.

Growing up, I was the rough guy from the wrong neighborhood who couldn’t catch a break. Posy was the pampered girl I tried to impress. But all she gave me was a single kiss before I had to skip town.
Now I’m back, and the tables are turned. Posy runs a struggling pie shop. I’m the VP of a secretive billion-dollar security company.
Not that I can tell her.
There’s a murderer on the loose in New York, and he seems to spend a lot of time at Posy’s shop. It’s my job to identify him before he can harm a hair on her pretty head.
Going undercover as Posy’s new barista wasn’t my idea. I don’t even drink coffee. But now I have to call her “boss,” and do everything the curvy perfectionist asks of me. I’d forgotten how much we infuriate each other, and that she somehow fills me with both irritation and desire in the same breath.
There’s nobody more skilled at stealth ops than me. I can bring this killer down. Right after I take a cold shower. And just as soon I figure out how to make a skinny peppermint latte with milk poured in the shape of a kitten...

Excerpt

Earlier, I’d spotted him even before he came into the bar. I watched him get out of that cab and then check the time. I saw him look toward the pub, weighing his choices.

My heart had thumped along with only one word. Please.

Fine—not my heart. It was other parts of me who were doing all the begging. Silently, of course. Speaking up seems impossible right now. What if he laughs in my face? Or—this might even be worse—what if he says yes? And then we get naked and I can’t satisfy him?

You’re not very adventurous, Spalding said. You’re not very good in bed.

My ex is the only person I’ve ever been naked with. And thanks to him, I’m afraid to try again with someone else. If another man tells me I’m no fun, I don’t know how I’d come back from that.

On the other hand, if I don’t get out of this rut, then Spalding wins. Maybe I sound melodramatic, but I don’t want to die before I experience terrific sex.

It’s really no surprise that my drink disappears quickly.

“Look, you don’t have to tell me what’s on your mind,” Gunnar muses, and I realize I’ve been silent for some time. “But something has you deep in thought.”

“Rhubarb,” I blurt. “It’s, uh, something I’ve used in springtime pies. But, um, I wonder if I could do better than strawberry rhubarb—that’s been done, you know?”

His smile widens. “Is that an occupational hazard? You can’t eat or drink anything without reconfiguring it in your mind?”

“Yep.” I wave at the bartender. “Another round of these if you wouldn’t mind.”

“Are you trying to get me drunk?” Gunnar asks. “Please say yes.”

My pulse picks up, because it’s hard to miss the innuendo there. But I dodge the question, because I’ve never been brave. “As if two cocktails and a beer would put you under my spell.”

“Oh, I’m easy,” Gunnar says, giving me an intentionally sleazy wink. “Besides, your pies have already made me slow and agreeable. That key lime and Thai basil pie was amazing. That stuff is dangerous.”

“You like my key lime and Thai basil?” I ask, hearing pleasure in my own voice. It never gets old when people tell you how much they like the product. “And I guess it figures that you’d be one of those.”

“One of what?”

“You have an adventurous palate.” I prop an elbow on the bar and try to explain. “People fall into two distinct groups. There’re the ones who always order the weird flavors. And the Dutch apple pie crew, who always stick to the basics. They don’t cross over. It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.”

Thanks to Spalding. He basically accused me of being a Dutch apple pie in bed. The whole reason I’m reading my sister’s romance novels is to try to learn what the other flavors are like.

“Huh,” Gunnar says. “So, you can just guess which other pies I’ve tried?”

“Sure, I can. Did you try the pine nut and salted honey?”

“Oh, hell yes.”

My smile grows wide. “How about the matcha green tea tart?”

“Well,” he shakes his head, “I gotta say I haven’t quite gone there yet. But I did enjoy the vinegar date pie.”

“Ah! And the ginger mango cream, right?” I press.

“Yeah. Does that make me predictable?”

“A little bit,” I say, enjoying myself immensely. “Have you started doing that thing where you try to guess each customer’s guilty pleasure?”

He laughs. “Get out of my head. It’s my new favorite game.”

“How’s your accuracy?”

“Pretty bad. I started off trying to use clothing as a clue. I expected somebody wearing a navy blue suit and boring shoes to order the apple crumble. But that theory bombed. And then I tried to assume that people in workout clothes wouldn’t pick something sugary. But they totally do.”

“You have to look deep inside their souls,” I tease. “If you look at the shell of a person, you’ll never get their pie order right. In fact, you have to look at their auras.”

He snorts. “What color is my aura?”

“Indigo, like tattoo ink. But with a streak of red because you’re contrary.”

He narrows his eyes. “You’re just fucking with me now.”

“Maybe I am.”

“Okay, lady. But I have an issue with something you said earlier.”

“What?”

Guilty pleasures.” He lays a hand over my wrist. “I don’t believe in those. I don’t think pleasure should make you feel guilty.”

“Oh.” He’s barely touching me, but goosebumps run up my arm anyway. Now would be a great time to make a joke and diffuse all the tension I’m suddenly feeling. But I feel too tongue-tied to pull it off.

Gunnar removes his hand, which is a disappointment. But the next thing he says stuns me back into goosebump territory. “You know, I always had it bad for you.”

“You … what?” I ask stupidly.

“Back when we were tending bar, I had a big crush on you. And sometimes I thought you were on the same page. I usually have good instincts about these things. But not that time. You ended up with Mr. Pretty Boy Preppy instead.”

My heart is thumping wildly now, and I take a sip of my cocktail to steady my nerves. The truth is that I don’t really trust this little revelation. We used to annoy each other, for one thing. But maybe that didn’t matter to Gunnar’s libido. He was a horny college boy. He probably had it bad for all the girls.

Still. “What if I’m the one who has terrible instincts? Did you ever think of that? And did you miss the part where I divorced Mr. Preppy?”

“Mmm,” he says thoughtfully. “I suppose that might explain a few things.”

“You’re the one who left, anyway.”

His eyes narrow. “Do you really think if I’d stuck around, things would have turned out differently? I spent three months giving you the fuck-me eyes, Paxton. But you didn’t take me up on it.”

Oh mother of God. His gaze is turning hot, and I think it might incinerate me. And then I remember why we never hooked up in the first place.

Theo knows that freedom comes at a price, but she is determined to find a way to save her country without losing herself

Review:

Looking back, Lady Smoke was my favorite book in this trilogy.  There was lots of action and I loved how the characters worked together and grew. With sweaty palms and my heart in my throat, some of the moments were definitely intense.  The games and strategies they set in place were so much fun to watch unfold.  It added to the unknown feel, made the story more emotional and I loved every minute of it.  With the reappearance of some old faces, this book had it all.  Lady Smoke was definitely my favorite in the Ash Princess Trilogy.

“You want something,” he says quietly, trying to sit up straighter. Heron didn’t do a thorough job of healing him, and he still winces in pain. Bruised ribs, maybe.
“I didn’t realize it was like this,” I tell him. “I had no idea.”
Søren looks at me incredulously before his gaze softens. “It’s war,” he says. “This is how it goes. Your friend is right. We both know I’ve done worse things.”

Artemisia

We must also bring them hope,” she said, as if it were a physical thing we could deliver in a basket tied with ribbon. As if it were easy to share with others when it’s hard enough to keep my own hope from dying.
When I say as much to Artemisia, she shakes her head. “Hope is contagious,” she says. “When you have enough, it spreads naturally.”

Artemisia became one of my favorites.  She was such an unknown in Ash Princess.  And she came across as cold.  But in this book, I started to absolutely love her.  Artemisia was complicated and the more we learned about her, it explained all of her complexities.  One of my favorite things was watching how Theo and her interacted.  I loved watching their dynamics play out.  Watching them learn to trust and work together was one of my favorite things in this story.  I could easily read a spin-off series about Artemisia!

Søren

The last time I saw him, I had betrayed him and he had told me he loved me anyway. He doesn’t. He can’t love me.

Yes Søren had done horrific things, and had gone along with some of his father’s wishes, but it didn’t matter me to.  When I looked at him, I didn’t just see all the blood on his hands and soul.  That was partly because he was raised by a monster. So when he was finally free, I loved the choice he made.  He had so much redemption in him and I was his biggest champion.  I loved how smart he was and how quick he was in situations.  He was a true warrior and survivor.  And I loved how Søren was Theo’s biggest supporter.

Theodosia

I did what I had to do, I tell myself again, and though that might be the truth, it doesn’t ease the guilt that’s worked its way under my skin.

I love that Theo was smart and who she chose to trust. But most of all, I loved that she couldn’t control how she felt.  No matter how hard she tried. She was fierce, brave, yet she still had a heart. In my eyes she had everything that would someday make her a great ruler!  Especially when she stood up for what she believed in.

I know him and he knows me and the darkest parts of our souls match.

The plans that came together were exciting and the way the politics played into this story was fascinating!  If you’re a fan of the first book or fantasy, then this book is for you!  Lady Smoke set the stage for the final book, and I was so excited to see how it was all going to end!
