And considering the nightmare that was his mother, those are some ugly messes indeed. In fact, the experience is enough to make Rowan vow that he never wants children of his own.

Review:

Cradled was the perfect follow up to see what all of our favorite characters were up to! It was tons of fun, filled with adventure, we got to spend lots of time with all the characters we loved and we even got a visit from another couple from the author’s Angelbound Origin Series. Although there were some huge spoilers where they were concerned, so be careful if you haven’t read that series yet. But regardless, the epilogue junkie in me absolutely loved this book!

“No matter what happens,” said Rowan. “Know this. I love you with all that I am.” I met his gaze again. Nothing but true respect and love shone in Rowan’s green eyes. “Everything else, we’ll work it out. Together.”

My favorite thing about this book was catching up with all of those that I loved. Yes I adored where the story went, but seeing my favorites?! Priceless! I loved that Rowan was sexy and protective as ever. Little Jericho was still absolutely adorable. And I have no clue if this is a possibility, but I would love to see him in the future, grown up, with his own series. Jericho was that charismatic, I could easily read more about him. And Elea warmed my heart and I loved watching her work through her HEA. So when I reached the end of the book, I loved that there was an epilogue that jumped a year in advance! So if you’re a fan of the Beholder Series, you should definitely pick up this book!

Review:

Superhero High was mesmerizing, beyond addicting and a ton of fun. I got completely wrapped up in the characters lives and lost in the pages. Bullying, first love, friendships, finding yourself and mystery was splashed across the pages. And that made this book emotional, sigh worthy, and I fell in love with so many of the characters. I closed that last page feeling happy and I’m excited for future books set in this world *fingers crossed*!

I fall back onto my bed and close my eyes, letting the past few hours replay in my head, a tear slipping out and running down my cheek. This is the worst nightmare ever, and I’m never, ever waking up from it.

Annarenee Stevens’ life may have seemed ordinary, but it was anything but that. She was the only one in her family without superpowers, but none of her friends or even boyfriend at her public high school truly knew about her family. With her sights set on a swimming scholarship to UC Berkeley, this was going to be her best year yet! But her whole life got turned upside down when the government quit funding the Genetically Enhanced Asset (GEA) program. All GEA families, hers included, were rounded up and sent to live in a community in San Diego. Leaving her whole life in Ohio behind, she found herself at a high school with no sports team and surrounded by Superheroes. And there were plenty who thought a zero like her, didn’t belong among them.

“I’m talking to you, zero.”
Whirling around, my fists clenched at my sides, I stare him down. “My name is Annarenee, asshole. Not zero, not loser, or any of the other pet names you think are so charming. If you can’t call me by my name . . . you know what? Never mind. Just don’t talk to me. Ever.”
His nostrils flare as he takes deep, angry breaths. “I’ll call you whatever I want, and you’ll answer.”

I loved seeing the world through Annarenee’s eyes and connected with her right from the beginning. She was was not only smart, but she had no problem speaking her mind. With her dreams of college sailing out the window and going to a new school where some looked down and bullied her, my heart definitely hurt for her. But she stood up for herself and her zero friends, and I love that she didn’t let others push her around. She came across as brave and someone I would respect.

His gaze lifts to mine, and the vulnerability in his eyes steals my breath. I’ve never seen this side of him. Not really. He’s been unsure, or nervous, but not this. Ren searches my face for something, and I’m pretty sure all he’s going to see is pure fear. Because if I kiss this boy, nothing between us will be the same.

In San Diego, Annarenee caught the eye of a Superhero, Ren Gonzalez. Oh you guys, I loved Ren. He gave me butterflies and I loved learning all of the different sides to him. Ren made me laugh, he made me feel cautious and he made me fall head over heels in love with him. The words he chose and the way he treated others just added to the huge list of reasons why I fell so hard for him. So when Ren flirted with Annarenee he easily made my heart race. But his jealous superhero ex seemed to always be hanging in the background and I was personally scared of her powers.

I’m in serious danger of falling hard for that boy, and I’m shocked it doesn’t scare me.

In the midst of everyone trying to adjust to living in San Diego, some of the teen superheroes started disappearing. I was grasping at the tiniest clues, like Annarenee, trying to figure out what was going on. And while I felt as clueless as her, I loved how all of this was a trigger for something huge. The zeroes and heroes would have to put aside their differences and work as one if they wanted to find those that they loved. Awww I loved this story and how it played out!

His mouth is on mine in seconds, as if he’d been holding his breath and he desperately needed to inhale.

I absolutely adored Superhero High. At the base of this story was a romance, but it was also about finding yourself, navigating your teen years and so much more. This book ended in a wonderful spot with a HFN feel, yet there are so many ways this story can continue. And I for one can’t wait!

Review:

The Supervillain and Me was playful, fun and crazy addicting. This book was so easy to devour and I loved how the mystery surrounding the supervillain had me flipping through the pages even faster. The action moments were perfectly sprinkled here and there and I adored how character driven this book was. I always find myself falling for those the hardest and that’s exactly what I did with The Supervillain and Me.

Regardless of who he was with or without his mask, I knew, no matter what my dad or brother said, I wanted to spend more time with him.

The city that Abby lived in was crawling with crime. The police and the superheroes were stretched beyond the limits. And with her father being the mayor and her brother being one of the superheroes, it almost felt like Abby was lost in the shuffle sometimes. Even though her family definitely loved her. So when Abby found herself being mugged she thought her brother, Connor aka Red Comet, would be the one to rescue her. Instead it was a new super. And the very next day the new super was caught on video burning city hall and then disappearing. The city dubbed him as a Supervillain and called him Iron Phantom. But he saved Abby so he can’t be all bad, right? Or can he?

“Abigail,” he whispered, his voice so low it nearly got lost amid the hum of the AC unit. “I’m not the bad guy. I’m not a villain. If I wanted to hurt you, I would have done it already.”

After Iron Phantom rescued Abby, he started randomly showing up in her life. Their times around each other had me cracking up. But there was a secret going on in the city, and he was hoping that Abby could help him figure out what was going on. And while I hoped Abby would be able to help him out, I was definitely focused on their interactions. Every time they were together their banter was smile inducing and you could feel the sparks flying. Plus I loved that even the littlest thing that Iron Phantom did could be seductive. I swooned so hard and found myself sighing out loud. I absolutely loved that cocky, brave, selfless, thoughtful, playful Supervillain!

He saw me in a way I hadn’t realized I wanted to be seen until I met him. Not a hero, not someone with powers, but just a girl. Just Abigail.

The more Abby found herself interacting with Iron Phantom, the deeper she got pulled into a dark mystery that was twisted into her city. I was so nervous waiting to see what was going to happen. But all the while, her normal life chugged on. She was still working hard in theater, had her best friend Sarah in her life and she was trying to spend time with her superhero brother and father who both worked constantly. My heart hurt for Abby at times and I didn’t expect for her to get into all of the perilous situations she found herself in. But I absolutely loved her. Abby’s sarcastic voice and the fact that she wasn’t impressed with the supers had me liking her right from the start. I even loved how she wasn’t exactly 100% trusting with Iron Phantom in the beginning. She definitely thought for herself and I found myself respecting her for doing what was right and not what others would have wanted her to do.

“I guess I thought if anyone could figure it out, it would be you.” He headed for my window. “I need to go.”

As we got pulled further into the story, I found myself obsessed with the mystery surrounding Iron Phantom. While I guessed who Iron Phantom was right from the start, I found myself switching my mind a few times. I never should have second guess myself! And when I reached that last page I absolutely loved how everything was wrapped up. It is definitely a standalone but here’s the thing, there’s still so much going on in their world that future books would definitely be feasible. I absolutely adored the Supervillain and Me, so whether we stay with Abby and her supervillain or switch to another character in this world I’d be a very happy girl! *fingers crossed*

[scroll-box]Five ridiculously intense rides where I’d wrapped myself around Evan later, my legs and body had turned gelatinous after moving too fast for too long.
And I was still wrapped around Evan. That move was like twenty percent the-ground-felt-unsteady-under-my-feet, and eighty percent enjoying-being-wrapped-around-him.
He slowed in front of the booth with a tower of milk bottles people tried to knock over for prizes. “To make up for dragging you along on all those rides—which I know you enjoyed, even though you’ll never admit it—I’m going to win you a prize.”
“One, I enjoyed them as much as anyone who thinks too much about every bolt and rickety part can, and two, these games are all rigged.”
“No faith,” he said, shaking his head.
“That’s what happens when you’re tricked into riding death traps in the name of ‘fun.’”
Evan lowered his lips to mine, and the way my stomach dipped and my skin hummed was a hundred times better than any thrill I could get from even the most insane carnival ride. “And now to wow you with my other talents.”
The guy handed him five balls for his five dollars, and Evan lined up for his throw. He launched the ball through the air, and while the speed and the way it smacked the bottles was impressive, they didn’t go down.
Since I like to be super helpful, I said, “See. Rigged.”
Evan quirked his eyebrow at me, then picked up the next ball and threw it. Another hit, but the bottles barely wobbled.
“I gotta be honest, I was more wowed by the kissing.”
He pinched my side, his grin bringing out the sexy grooves in his cheeks. Determination set his jaw as I handed him the next ball. Three more throws, three more times the stack wobbled but didn’t go down.
“One more round?” the guy working the booth asked. Then he looked at me. “How about I give the lady one throw for free? I won’t even straighten the bottles.”
He pulled a bright-red ball out from under the stand, and with a shrug, I reached for it. Not like I had anything to lose. I studied the ball, noticing it looked bigger than the ones Evan had been using, and it felt heavier as well.
The guy working the booth gave me a secretive smile I quickly returned.
“Do you need me to wrap my arms around you under the pretense of teaching you to throw?” Evan asked.
“Hmm. While I like the thought of that, I think it’d be safer for everyone if you gave my throwing arm a wide berth.”
He took an exaggerated step back and placed a protective hand over his package.
“Very funny.” I sucked in a deep breath, cocked my arm, and threw for all I was worth.
The ball collided with the bottles, and they went down with a loud clatter. I jumped up and down and added a maniacal laugh. The guy working the booth pointed at the stuffed animals I could choose from.
“Way to show me up,” Evan teased as he came up behind me, wound his arms around my waist, and rested his chin on my shoulder.
I glanced back at him. “What prize do you want?”
“You won it for me, huh?” he asked, and I nodded.
“I want you to have a souvenir to show off to your friends when you brag about how well I take care of you.”
He moved his lips to the column of my neck and dropped a kiss there, and my entire body broke out in goosebumps. “Then I want the unicorn riding the rainbow, of course.”
“Oh, sure. Promise me a unicorn, then rub it in my face when you get one.”
The guy handed me the colorful stuffed creature, and I studied my prize as we walked away. “This unicorn’s more than riding the rainbow; he’s totally humping it.”
Evan’s soft chuckle sent happiness pinging through me. “Horny magical creature.”
That made me snort-laugh, and I hugged the dirty unicorn to my chest, already sure it was going to be my all-time favorite souvenir.

[scroll-box] Smith slides in beside me and drapes his arm around me, kissing the side of my head.

Ryan glances over his shoulder before backing up. “You guys are coming tonight, right?”

“Wouldn’t miss it,” Smith answers for both of us.

The drive to my house is less than five minutes. On the way Smith leans in and whispers in my ear, “Anyone going to be home?”

I shake my head then wonder if I should have lied. Smith’s been hinting more frequently that he wants to have sex. We’ve been dating for three months, but unlike Smith, I’m not ready. Call me old-fashioned, but I want my first time to be special. I like Smith, he’s cute, popular, and funny, but I’m not in love with him. Plus, I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t keep secrets from the person you share the most intimate part of yourself with, and I’m keeping a huge secret from Smith.

We pull up in front of my house, and Smith and I hop out, grabbing our stuff from the back.

“I’ll call you later,” Ronny yells as Ryan roars off.

I wave as they turn the corner and disappear, nerves twisting in my belly as Smith takes my hand. I glance at him, my gaze drawn to his crystal blue eyes beneath messy-wild blond hair. Smith moved here last summer and rapidly became one of the most popular guys in our class. He’s always tan and his body is cut, a result of time spent in the pool or surfing in his native Florida. Every single girl in our school, and possibly even a few with boyfriends, would be thrilled to have my problem. I need to figure this out soon before he decides he’s tired of waiting.

Smith guides me up the walkway toward the porch, and I wonder how far I can let him go this time before I put on the brakes.

Our front door opens and two men dressed in black suits, white button-ups, black ties, and sunglasses exit our house. The taller of the two seems to size me up behind his dark lenses before he nods and passes. I turn and watch them get into a black Escalade parked across the street.

My brother, Noah, cruises up and parks his vintage blue Mustang convertible in the driveway. He climbs out, his eyes glued to the SUV as it pulls away from the curb.

Smith snorts. “What are the Blues Brothers doing here?”

I don’t share his humor and instead turn toward my brother, eyebrows raised in silent question.

Noah shakes his head, and inside my own head, I hear, “I don’t know, they were blocking me.”

A chill runs through me starting in the pit of my stomach. It’s not unusual to get a visit from the Men in Black, but my parents should be at work, and Noah should still be at his school for another couple of hours. Something is wrong.

“Don’t panic, AR,” Noah says in my head.

I turn to Smith, “Um, I’ll call you later, okay? Pick me up at eight?”

He leans in and kisses my cheek. “Sure. Wear something sexy.” He smiles and waggles his eyebrows.

“Douchebag,” Noah says only to me before heading inside.[/scroll-box]
