TOP TEN TUESDAY - Books We Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week we get to talk about Books We Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed.  Have you ever rated a book, and then over time your love for the book has diminished or grown even more?  Because that has definitely happened to us!  So here are the books that we definitely want to change our original rating……

loving mr daniels brittainy c. cherry
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
the soul eaters cracked eliza crewe
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

1. Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy Cherry 3.5 to 2 Stars – A horribly written story that had one (or a zillion) too many tragedies to ring true.

2. Cracked (Soul Eater #1) by Eliza Crewe 4 to 3 Stars – I gave it a little more credit than it deserved because of friends optimism and enthusiasm for it.

the seers julianna scott
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

nought & crosses malorie blackman
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

3. The Seers (Holders #2) by Julianna Scott4 to 3 Stars – I wanted so badly to love it because it was so sweet I tricked myself into enjoying it more than I did.

4. Noughts & Crosses (Noughts & Crosses #1) by Malorie Blackman3 to 2 Stars – I never really knew how to rate this because I was so emotionally distraught…after a year, now I know.

wait for you jennifer l. armentrout j. lynn
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
lux opposition jennifer l armentrout
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

5. Wait for You (Wait for You #1) by J. Lynn4.5 to 3 Stars – The beginning of the end for me.

6. Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout5 to 4 Stars – Same JLA formula, minus the epic.

the sweet gum tree katherine allred
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
the temptation of lila and ethan jessica sorensen
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

7. The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred5 to 3 Stars – This book was about as depressing as it gets, and it had so many of my pet peeves (that I didn’t realize I had) I’m surprised I even finished it. Again, another case of wanting to love it as much as my friends did.

8. The Temptation of Lila and Ethan (The Secret #3) by Jessica Sorensen3 to 2 Stars – The more I think about this series, the more upset I get.  The ending of this book is exactly how the character was in the 1st book.  And this is book 3 of a 4 book series.  It was infuriating to see Ella (the main character from the previous books and who is the main character in the next final book) do the exact same hurtful things again and again that she did in the beginning!  It was redundant and was hugely disappointing.  Sadly I gave up on reading any more books by Jessica Sorensen, even though she creates a beautiful world full of heartache, hardships and tragic pasts.

rebel belle rachel hawkins
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
On The Fence Kasie West
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

9. Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle #1) by Rachel Hawkins4 to 3 Stars – This book was so fluffy and cute and it was just what I needed after reading some dystopian books that made me ugly cry.  Yet, I never once felt the urge to continue the series, even though I did enjoy it.  My problem was that I didn’t connected with the main character.  And that fact, over time, has made me realize I have more of an okay feelings toward this book then a like.  I’ll always continue a series if the 1st book is 4 Stars, yet I won’t ever continue if the 1st book is just a 3 star.  And this is definitely a 3 star book.

10. On the Fence by Kasie West4.5 to 5 StarsOUR ONLY INCREASE LOL!  I deducted half a star because I struggled finding a connection to Charlie in the beginning.  Once I did, I loved her.  BUT the whole time I  read this story, I found myself loving every single teeny tiny detail in this book.  This is probably the most adorable story I’ve ever read!  So I want to kick myself for being so harsh and deducting that half a star, because this books will always be on my favorites list!

So these are the Books We Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed.  Do you feel the same about any of these books?  Of do you have books whose rating you feel differently about too?

Isn’t it interesting how you can read a book and rate it one way and then look back at it later and wonder what you were thinking? I’ve had books work in both directions like this (but more often toward the negative, like you guys).

Yes, it’s definitely interesting how our likes/dislikes/issues change over time! As long as my favorites always remain favorites, then I’m okay with the lower rated books changing over time, and so far it’s worked out that way. 🙂

Love the post! It’s funny because I recently scrolled through all the read books on my Goodreads shelf and changed ALL of my ratings. There were some drastic changes let me tell you. It’s interesting to see how our opinions about a book can change overtime. I also think that as you read more of the series or in general that also impacts the rating in the future.

All of your ratings? Oh WOW! Yeah, it is interesting how our preferences change over time…..we keep discovering more amazing books and that makes it hard sometimes for just meh books that could have once been awesome. 🙂

I’m still having a tough time getting through Opposition. It’s definitely missing what kept me turning the pages in the first four books.

Aw I KNOW. What is it about that story that lacks what the rest of the series had??? It’s so sad UGH :(((( I’ll always adore and love Daemon/Katy and Aiden/Alex ♥

What a shame. I haven’t read any of these. 🙁 I really need to finish the Lux series though. Origin is the one I need to read next.

I think you would like a Kasie West book! They are the perfect amount of fluffiness, rainbows and sunshine and a tiny hint of a deeper element. I have one more of hers saved for when I am in desperate need of a book just like that. 🙂

Ohhhhhh Origin alternated between Daemon and Katy’s voice! I loooovveeedd hearing his voice lol! I can’t wait to see what you think of the final one……Chels parted ways with JLA lol but I still absolutely adore her writing.

I’ve heard so many good things about her books!! I really do need to try one. I like fluffy with some deeper stuff in it.

Oh wow Origin goes between the two POVs?! I can’t wait to see. Well I hope I like the ending because otherwise I’ll be really pissed honestly lol! Maybe that’s why I’m putting off reading the rest. I’m so worried it will end bad and I love it so much!

I’d say the deeper is like 1-5% of the books…..if even that? But they are beyond adorable!
Yeah, I loved being able to hear Daemon’s thought! I haven’t heard of anyone that hated the ending, just some complained (like Chels) that they missed the epic and/or were tired of her writing style. BUT I’m definitely not in that camp, at all lol. I still love everything she writes. 🙂
