Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Review:

*Spoilers if you haven’t read the previous books in the Lux Series*

Another gripping, action packed, heart-wrenching story by Jennifer Armentrout! I was addicted from the very first page and I never wanted to escape Katy and Daemon’s world. The fourth installment of this series adds a new element that I thoroughly loved, alternating voices. I loved hearing the story in both Katy and Daemon’s voices but I became enamored listening to Daemon’s intoxicating, bad-ass, sexy self. Listening to both Katy and Daemon’s hearts breaking while they faced struggle after struggle added a potent level of becoming lost in their lives. The world around me easily faded away into nothingness. Well, until that ending. That ending left me petrified for how this series is going to conclude.

Katy – I had no idea what was going to happen from here on out, and even thinking about it scared the ever-loving crap out of me. Tomorrow wasn’t guaranteed. Neither were the next couple of hours. My breath caught with that realization, and I stiffened. The next minute was unknown to us, and it might not even come.

Katy wakes up still trapped in her nightmare. While helping to break out Beth and Dawson from Mount Weather, Katy was caught in the process. Daedalus has transferred her to the state of Nevada and she is petrified of what will happen to Daemon when he does the same thing she would do for him, rescue her. Daemon is on a suicide mission to rescue Katy and no one can stop him. Not the whole Luxen community, Dawson and certainly not Dee. How can you be rational when you are flooded with a million and one emotions? How can you be rational when you know the one you love is being tortured, just like Bethany was. You can’t. From here, you get taken on a dark and twisted path of betrayal, heroism, torture, true love, and sacrifice.

Daemon – She burrowed into me, her fingers clutching the strands of hair at the nape of my neck. The tears…they kept coming, and my heart was shattering at the raw sound of each of her breaths. Never in my life had I felt more useless. I wanted to fix this, to make her better, but I didn’t know how.

One of the many reasons I love this author so much is that not only is the storyline enthralling but the couples she builds are mesmerizing. The love they feel for each other, the moments that make you sigh out loud and the happiness they create within you adds to the fact they are real. Well, at least they are in my mind. In Origin, we get to watch Daemon and Katy’s love for one another grow to epic proportions. In the end, they always knew that they had each other’s love to build strength from. When Katy was at her darkest place, when not even sleep but nothingness becomes an unanswered prayer, she knew she could find strength in Daemon’s love for her. They are truly a couple that you could get lost thinking about. And their self-sacrifice to protect one other is absolutely beautiful. I will forever love this couple.

I caught the tear with a kiss. “And I’m not going to let you do this by yourself. You’re my everything, Kat.” At the sound of her soft inhale, I smiled again. “Come on, Kitten, did you really expect anything less from me? I love you.”

I’m a little obsessed about this series, can you tell? I’m addicted to Daemon, Katy, Dee and a new character you will get introduced to in this book. I’m dying of anticipation to figure out how this series is going to end! Will the final installment allow the Lux Series to stay at the top of my list of my all-time favorite series? I’m going to keep my fingers crossed and hope for YES!

**Spoilers if you haven’t read Obsidian or Onyx**

I can’t think. My heart is still racing. My sense of dread won’t disappear. And my cheeks, well they are still damp with tears. But you know what? I loved Opal. I loved every single heart wrenching, giggle inducing, sighing moment. It has every element that I always seek for in a book. That’s why I love Jennifer Armentrout’s writing so much, she always delivers! So now I find myself desperately trying to sort out my thoughts as quickly as possible so I can start the next book in this series. I have to know what is going to happen, until then, my heart will still hurt.

Screw going home. This wasn’t the 1950s. I wasn’t a fragile human being. And I sure as hell wasn’t the Katy Daemon had initially met. He was going to have to deal with it.

The ending of Onyx was phenomenal, in almost every way imaginable. Katy is back safe and sound and so is Dawson. They are both forever marked from the torture that they endured, but poor Dawson is almost crippled by it. He is barely a shadow of who he used to be, and that has everyone on pins and needles. Because he has to go back and get Beth. How could he ever live without her? But Dawson isn’t the only wild card in this book. Whatever happened to Will? Did the mutation take, are they bound to him forever, or did it fade away? And where did Blake go? Is their secret safe? With so many unknowns hanging in the air, this book was exciting, fast paced and shocked me quite a few times!

I clamped my hand over my mouth, stifling a giggle. He was such an asshole, and I loved him.

But my favorite element in this book, besides getting to see Dee a lot more (I LOVE her!), was that we get to see Katy and Daemon function as a team. Finally, yes finally, one wasn’t pushing the other away. And don’t worry, because even though they are together at last, we don’t lose out on any of our favorite types of moments that had us falling for them in the previous books. There’s still the snarky banter, which they do perfectly. There’s still the steamy tension. And they still have those moments that make you sigh and melt into a puddle. But with so much chaos constantly surrounding them, these moments felt exceptionally special and more meaningful. This along with my favorite characteristics (kick-ass heroine who won’t take anyone’s crap and a bad boy who use to be a jerk but always had a heart of gold and will do anything for the ones he loves) makes it impossible for me not to still love them, even as they continue to still make mistakes.

My heart stuttered and then skipped a beat. It sunk in and threatened to pull me through the seat. Shock washed over me, quickly followed by a bolt of anger so fierce I jerked forward. I couldn’t sit here. I couldn’t breathe.

Of course I’m not going to tell you any more than that. I never do but there were tons of things that happened that I never once saw coming. Neither did Katy or Daemon. The most shocking was that ending. That ending nearly destroyed me. I’m still in a state of panic and I can’t shake out of it. Wow, this series just keeps getting better and better!

Synopsis:

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon's determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I've sworn him off, even though he's running more hot than cold these days. But we've got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I'm a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who's got a secret of his own. He knows what's happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I've seen someone who shouldn't be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he's never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

**Spoilers if you haven’t read Obsidian**

This was a brilliant second installment to the Lux series. The tension and chemistry between Daemon and Katy was so steamy that I thought I would melt, the mystery that surrounded people and events left me reeling trying to figure out what was really going on and again that ending left my heart crying out in happiness and sadness for what had happened. Onyx was thoroughly addicting, and when I was done absorbing every single word and meaningful moment, I was desperately reaching for the next book in this series.

He took a fortifying breath. “I always liked you. From the moment you first flipped me off.”

We start out in one of my favorite situations. Daemon and his damn pen pestering Katy in class. How can something as simple as poking and bothering someone put the biggest grin on my face? Daemon is harassing Katy that they have to work off her trace, again. But things are different. Her and Daemon’s heart beat are in sync, she can tell when he is near because her neck tingles and after Katy gets sick she ventures into the unknown. With a thought, Katy can move and cause things to happen. Locker doors are opened, the shower is turned on, but why? Shouldn’t aliens be the only ones to do that?

Sometimes I seriously wanted to just punch him in the face, but it made me warm in all the right places to see this side of him again, too. “You’re insufferable.” “You like my kind of suffering.”

A new kid transfers to the school, a hottie who is a surfer named Blake. Let it be known that I loathe Blake. My heart is 1110% Daemon and it exasperated me that Katy would even fathom hanging around another boy. I understood why, but still, it drove me crazy! Katy feels a kinship to this normal, human boy and when she’s around him all things alien can momentarily be forgotten. Because after that epic battle, she needs some reprieve and normalness in her life. But Daemon has other plans. His jealousy and hatred for Blake was nothing short of entertaining. Daemon refused to call Blake by his real name. Ben, Brad, Bob, Biff, Bart, Bo and so on. I laughed each and every time! His confidence and cockiness knows no limits and he definitely lets Blake know that. Daemon and his infuriating sexiness (YAY!!!!!) is back in copious amounts in this book, so be prepared to be swooned while he tries to win Katy over!

I was used to the sarcastic and rude Daemon. In an odd way, that version was easier to deal with. We could trade insults all day. But this Daemon…this one who wouldn’t give up was kind and gentle, funny and – dear God – thoughtful.

I don’t want to say anymore, other than you are in for an exciting ride! My assumptions for events and people and my patience for stubborn Katy were definitely put to the test. And at the end of the book, I was elated with how the story progressed and ended. This is such a fun and sexy read and I highly recommend it!

“Not when you’re mine.” Daemon backed us up and slid down the wall, pulling me into his lap so I was straddling him. “And you’re mine.”

PS I usually have a huge problem with nicknames. They rub me the wrong way and bug me throughout the whole book. BUT when Daemon calls Katy Kitten, oh my gosh, it makes my heart race! I love it!

Ok, it has officially been a week since I finished this-I was in Antigua so no Internet connection to review….but even after a week I am still shocked into O M G mode that this book was so damn good.

I really figured it would be corny and just another YA paranormal romance. I was wrong. I loved Daemon, I loved Katy, and I loved Dee. I loved them all, which is very rare. Katy was a realistic heroine figure and she never once got on my nerves. Daemon….was definitely a douche..but I STILL loved him and hey, lets be realistic-I knew better than to fall for his facade. This book had it all-Suspense, romance (of course), a huge, dramatic fight-to-the-death scene at the end, and a cliff-hanger that had me cursing out loud that I was in another country and could not buy the second installment in the series. Needless to say, the minute I landed in the states I was seeking out Wi-fi connectivity in-between flights to get started on the second book in this awesome series. Loved it-another favorite added to the shelf.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Obsidian, and I loved Onyx. But I wasn’t AS wowed when I finished as when I finished the first. This one was great, but I guess it just bothered me a tad, and I say a tad because I know it shouldn’t all just work out perfectly right away, that Katy would not admit her feelings for Daemon. I mean, come on, just admit it! That part drove me crazy. And normally I could care less in a romance if there is lack of girlfriends, but I truly missed Dee in this one.

She was hardly in it and she is just the sweetest thing..weird thing to say I know, but she was so nice and fun in Obsidian that I missed her spunk in the second. I guess that made an impact of the intensity of the novel as well. And, as per her first book, there was another cliff hanger at the end of this one that had me scrambling yet again to another Wi-fi area to download book 3, Opal. I know there will be yet another cliff hanger at the end of Opal and it has me asking myself-What will I do when done with this third book..considering the fourth installment does not come out until July?…
