(Jen’s Choice – Review)

1. Warrior Witch (The Malediction Trilogy #3) by Danielle L. Jensen – Warrior Witch is the final book in this beautifully intoxicating trilogy!  A heroine I love is paired with a sexy, infuriating, haughty and sarcastic troll (I ♥ Tristan!) in hopes that a prophecy will be fulfilled and the trolls will be set free from under their mountain.  The peril was through the roof intense and I can’t wait to see how their story ends. (Releases 05/03/16)

2. The Power (Titan #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout – Paranormal and mythology are weaved together to create an absolutely brilliant series!  This is the 2nd in the series and I adored Seth and Jose!  Their interactions of banter, animosity, anger, laughter and sexiness were perfection.  This is such a fun series! (Releases 02/23/16)

3. The Raven King (The Raven Cycle #4) by Maggie Stiefvater – If you haven’t read these books yet, I recommend you do because they’re magical and complex and different.  It’s so easy to be carried away by her words, to live in the world she’s created with them and spend hours there without realizing. Her writing sucked me right into the story and there was no escaping it.  This the final book! (Releases 04/26/16)

4. The Last Star (The Fifth Wave #3) by Rick Yancey – This. Story. Is. Amazing. Goosebump inducing and captivating.  I absolutely loved the plot, the idea of the alien invasion, the world building, and the switch of POV’s. All that made for an insanely good book that was very hard to put down and will be even harder to forget.  This is the final book in the trilogy. (Releases 05/24/16)

5. Passenger (Passenger #1) by Alexandra Bracken – Pssst! Okay, so let me sum up : it is a time travel story with pirates written by Alexandra Bracken. Who created Liam and he stole my heart in The Darkest Minds.  Of course I can’t wait! (Releases 01/05/16)

6. The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury –  When Aladdin discovers Zahra’s jinni lamp, Zahra is thrust back into a world she hasn’t seen in hundreds of years — a world where magic is forbidden and Zahra’s very existence is illegal. When the King of the Jinn offers Zahra a chance to be free of her lamp forever, she seizes the opportunity—only to discover she is falling in love with Aladdin. When saving herself means betraying him, Zahra must decide once and for all: is winning her freedom worth losing her heart? (Releases 02/23/16)

7. The Girl Who Fell by S.M. Parker – In this gripping debut novel, high school senior Zephyr Doyle is swept off her feet—and into an intense and volatile relationship—by the new boy in school.  (Releases 03/01/16)

8. Calamity (Reckoners #3) by Brandon Sanderson –  It’s not about superheroes. It’s about normal people given superhuman abilities…that they choose to do evil with. I ADORE this series. I ADORE the characters. I ADORE the situations he puts them through. (Releases 02/16/16)

9. The Winner’s Kiss (The Winner’s Trilogy #3) by Marie Rutkoski – A whirlwind of angst, heartbreak, heartache, doubt, and self-sacrifice to the FULLEST extent, I could barely breathe through most of this story. It was harsh. It was evil. There wasn’t a moment where I wasn’t sitting on the edge of my seat….Agh. Who am I kidding? I fucking loved it. (Releases 03/01/16)

10. Soldier (Talon #3) by Julie Kagawa – Jealousy (yaaas), lies, betrayal, true love, angst, and much more, this story became an instant favorite.  Her romance is unrivaled and she embraces forbidden love like she would coddle a child. No one compares and I admire her work greatly.  Julie Kagawa is ruthless. Mad. Intoxicating…Brilliant.   (Releases 04/26/16)

(Jen’s Choice – Review)

1. Hunting Lila (Lila #1) by Sarah Alderson – Sarah Alderson also goes by the name Mila Gray, and I fell madly in love with her book Come Back to Me earlier this month.  So I can’t wait to read her paranormal book that is about special powers while being laced with mystery and romance!

2. Scarlet (Scarlet #1) by A.C. Gaughen – I adore Robin Hood, and this story is not only about Rob but Scarlet who is posing as a girl in his band of thieves.  This book looks as though it will be filled with peril, adventure and romance (I hope), which are some of my favorite things!

3. The Book of Ivy (The Book of Ivy #1) by Amy Engel – A post-apocalyptic US where the daughters of the losing side, from war, marry the the sons of the winning side and this year one of the daughters is supposed to murder one of the sons who is also the President’s son.  This screams star-crossed lovers, and I absolutely adore those stories!

4. The Archived (The Archived #1) by Victoria Schwab – Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books, where each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures only Librarians can read.  The premise sounds fabulous, and there should be more than enough mystery to keep us glued to the pages!

5. Racing Savannah (Hundred Oaks #4) by Miranda Kenneally – I loved her book Breathe, Annie, Breathe.  It was a beautiful story about loss, healing and new beginnings.  Then Stealing Parker was a sweet, but insightful contemporary.  So I can’t wait to read this one too!

6. The Bone Season (The Bone Season #1) by Samantha Shannon – This book is about a girl who commits treason simply by breathing since she is a dreamwalker, who is a clairvoyant, in the year 2059.  She is attacked, drugged and kidnapped, and if she wants to regain her freedom she must allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.  Yes please!

7. Open Road Summer by Emery Lord – A girls-only summer of break-up ballads and healing hearts.  A boy whose boy-next-door charm proves difficult to resist.  And navigating the ups and downs of fame and friendship while discovering that giving your heart to the right person is always a risk worth taking.  Sounds like a lot of fun to me!

8. The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler – I have the book on my ipad, but I desperately want a physical copy!   This was just too good. The poetic writing, the vivid explanations, the awesome setting, and an unlikely love that made my heart stop beating at some point (I might have flat-lined, who the hell knows, it was too damn hot) and my stomach erupt into thousands of butterflies.

9. Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn – Again, I have the book on my ipad, but after reading it I need this book on my shelf!  I loved this book with all my heart-even as every increasing page ripped my heart to shreds a little more.   I really hope people will open their mind and read about this wonderful set of flawed characters

10. Kiss the Sky (Calloway Sisters #1) by Krista Ritchie & Becca Ritchie – Did you notice the trend?  Another book I fell hard for, but I desperately need the physical copy!  It’s about a Virgin. Sex addict. Daredevil. Alcoholic. Smartass … Jackass. Her five friends are about to be filmed on reality TV.  And I adored Connor!

These are some of the “Books We Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under Our Tree This Year”.  Although to be honest, each of our lists have a few hundred at least hehe. 🙂   What are some books that you would want Santa to leave under your tree?

(Jen’s Choice – Review)

1.  Lauren Layne – I’ve read 9 of her books so far this year, and they have all been 4.5/5 Stars!  They are sexy yet sweet, the banter is hilarious, the friendships are heartwarming, and all of the characters are so unique and amazing.

2. Theresa Kay – These are the type of Science Fiction books I fall madly in love with!  They contain peril, heartbreak, action, lies, betrayal, love. and are addicting!

3.  Mark Lawrence – That little devil of Jorg of Ancrath quickly became one of my favorite heroes of all times (don’t judge me) – dark fantasy at its best.

4.  Cat Winters – She shows a real talent to convey an atmosphere and to write in an engrossing and compelling way about such important issues – her books are definitely not to be missed.

(Laura’s Choice – Review)

5.   T.L. Haddix – There is something to say about an author who manages to create romance novels without giving into the awful tropes I hate, such as slut-shaming, drama llama, and abusive relationships.

6. Miranda Kenneally – This book touched me like no other YA Book ever did.

(Laura’s Choice – Review)

(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

7. V. E. Schwab (Victoria Schwab) – I’ve seen someone saying Victoria Schwab’s writing is off the charts, and I can’t emphasize enough how right they were. My new goal is to get my hands on all of her other books as fast as I can.

8. Courtney Summers – They are beautiful and profound and they aren’t your every day drivel and formula we all have memorized and rehearsed-they actually have strong messages that give you feels in ways you never imagined possible. She expands your mind to a point you didn’t even realize existed.

9. Linda Kage – These books were sexy and fun, and the inner dialogue and quirky humor were perfection!

10. Barry Lyga – Tortured souls are what really draws me in, and Jazz was was one of the reasons why I loved these books so much!  They were different, intriguing and beyond addicting!
