Synopsis:

Abby Erickson isn't looking for a one-night stand, a relationship, or anything that involves any one-on-one time, but when she witnesses a shocking crime, she's thrust into the hands of the sexiest man she's ever seen - Colton Anders. His job is to protect her, but with every look, every touch, and every simmering kiss, she's in danger of not only losing her life but her heart also.

Review:
I was the kind of woman who got the guy in the books.
But not in real life.
Never in real life.

Dream of you was a playful book that I devoured way too quickly.  It had elements of intensity, sexiness and reality laced throughout the pages, which made for such an enjoyable read!  Abby and Colton were people that I easily became attached to and cared for deeply.  They were a wonderful addition to the Wait For You Series!  And while I may be wrong, this book felt as though it was the sexiest in the series!  And that’s saying a lot, since it was only a little over 100 pages long.  Or maybe it was because there was so much crammed into such a short story.  But looking back over Dream of You, I love how the banter and sex scenes were written.  They were scorching hot from the beginning until the end!

Oh goodness, I had only ever read about men staring at women in a way that it felt like a physical touch before. I hadn’t really believed it possible.
It was.

Abby is a character that you must meet!  She was a breath of fresh air and so many people will be able to find little pieces of themselves in her.  That’s because not only does she fan-girl about books/authors that we’ve heard of, which was amazing, but she was self-conscious about her body.  She definitely didn’t have the best self esteem in the world, and I have rarely seen that portrayed in books that I’ve read.  It was interesting listening to Abby’s inner ramblings and negative comments about herself, because those are the things that so many of us do.  At times, she knew that she shouldn’t be thinking those thoughts, but she couldn’t stop them either.  But that’s not Abby’s only issue.  Four years ago her husband passed away, and in the meantime she has consumed her life with work which is editing books.  Fun!  But since her husband passed away, Abby hadn’t been interested in a guy, let alone thought about wanting to get naked with one.  So when Colton stepped into her world, her insecurities flared to life.

Our gazes locked, and in an instant, a horrifying connection was formed. He saw me. I saw him.
I saw him shoot someone in the face.
And this man, this killer, knew that.

The way that Abby and Colton met was definitely not desirable.  She was a witness to a homicide, and Colton was one of the detectives at the police station that was to interview her.   The moment that he stepped into the room, I fell all over him.  Because Colton is another male, in a long line of guys that Jennifer Armentrout has created, that I am in love with!  He was protective, sexy, sweet, caring and did I say sexy?  I loved his brother Reece, in Fall With Me, and Colton was every bit as desirable!  There has to be something in their blood, because any words that would spill out of Colton’s mouth made me want to throw myself at him.  Want to see proof?  Nicknames or terms of endearment can easily rub me the wrong way, I know, I know, I can be way too picky.  And I never thought that I would be a fan of honey, but when it came sailing out of Colton’s mouth, it was perfection!

Closing my eyes, I exhaled softly. “You want to see me, but I’m not sure you really want to. I don’t look like—”
“I know what you look like,” he said, his voice low as his gaze met and held mine. “I have two eyes and I’ve been checking you out often. Enough that it would probably make you uncomfortable if you knew. I fucking adore what I see.” He drew my hand to his groin, folding my palm over the rigid length. “I want what I see.”

So even though this book flies by way too fast, it is a definite must read for fans of the Wait For You series!  The sparks between Abby and Colton, even during a basic conversation, were hot, hot, hot!  I loved it!  Oh, and I can’t forget Abby’s dirty thoughts.  The things that would pop into her head, my gosh, she had me giggling and covering my mouth while shaking my head no way.  I loved her!  So please do yourself a favor and pick up this book!  So much fun and sexiness is packed into such a quick story, and I loved every minute of it!

Synopsis:

Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.

Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.

But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

Review:

Fall With Me was fun, sexy and charming!  I always enjoyed the scenes in the previous book with Roxy.  She worked at the bar that is owned by Jax and was a true friend to Calla.  She helped her out and always came across as funny and cute.  But I noticed every time that Reece, who is a cop and friend of Jax, would enter the bar, Roxy would try her hardest to avoid him.  I wanted to get to the bottom of what happened between the two of them.   And my oh my, the details of their past was shocking, fun, and I was rooting for them the whole time!

I wasn’t going to think about any hard things, unless those hard things were a part of Reece’s anatomy.
I smacked a hand over my mouth, but a giggle escaped nonetheless.

Roxy and Reece are childhood friends who seemed to take it too far one night.  Their past has haunted the both of them, but for entirely different reasons.  But not everything can stay in the past forever.  Especially when you have their chemistry!  Their banter was scorching hot!  Heck,  even when they were in the same room together, it was beyond clear that they belonged together.

One never knew when their life was about to be irrevocably altered. There was no warning. If anything, it always came when everything was calm and good.

But while the story may sound light and happy, muahahaha, it is not!  Fall With Me has a subtle creepiness to it that sneaks into the pages. It started to make me second guess the noises I was hearing and my surroundings.  Of course I read this book at night, which was the wrong decision.  That lingering creepy feeling had me walking around my dark house just so I could check my doors and windows to verify that yes everything was locked.  Because I knew that paranoid feeling wouldn’t go away until I was certain that nothing could touch me.  But after checking my house, that feeling didn’t go away.  That’s because I kept thinking that this could happen to anyone. To you or me.  And that was insanely unsettling.

“No. Seriously. That’s not a ‘nothing.’ I don’t ever want to hear my sister’s name and the word pole in the same sentence that involves dancing.” Cam glanced at Katie, wielding a slotted spatula, causing Jacob to sidestep a spittle of grease. “No offense.”
She shrugged a shoulder . “None taken. Only the few and the proud can handle it.”
I scrunched my nose. “Isn’t that the Marines’ motto?”
“Yes,” sighed Reece.

In the mix was also all of the characters that I have fallen in love with in the previous books.  I loved watching them interact with Roxy and Reece!  And while all of that was fun, one of my favorite things about this book was Reece.  Reece was crazy sexy.  He was demanding yet caring.  He was protective yet understanding.  He was one of those take charge guys who could easily make you melt.  And when Roxy described his SWAT team outfit, oh my gosh.  Soooo hot.  Unbelievably hot.

So of course I had fun reading this book.  I quickly flew though the pages.  Friends, humor, sexiness and hot scenes?  Yes please!  But there was an undercurrent of seriousness that was within this story.  And now that I’ve had a day to think about it,  I am so glad this issue was present in Fall With Me.  Because it seems as though so many books gloss over the seriousness of this issue or portray it as something that you should desire.  But in real life, it isn’t.  At all.   I am so thankful that I read Roxy and Reece’s story, and I hope that they make appearances in the future books in this series.  Especially if Reece is wearing his SWAT uniform!

“I want you so badly it’s like a hunger that gnaws at me endlessly. It doesn’t go away.” He dipped his head to the space between my neck and shoulder, inhaling deeply. “You have no fucking clue.”
“Then do something about it,” I whispered.

Thank God. Thank. Gooood. I am not going to lie to you all. I have been soooo nervous these last few months about my relationship with JLA. I think it’s because of her NA series. It just doesn’t touch me the way you’d think it should, seeing as she’s been my favorite author for a good two years or so. But, in the last year I’ve started to see and feel….some different feelings. I’ve seen changes in Armentrout’s work. She’s began to use repetitive phrasing occurring in each and every book she produces and anyone who knows me at all knows that is a Hell NO for me. And, I’ll be honest, if it wasn’t such childish phrasing it wouldn’t bother me-at all. But, as it is, Holy crap on a cracker and Holy alien babies doesn’t make me laugh like it once used to in her Lux and Covenant series. No, it makes me roll my eyes. Hard. But, as I said in my last JLA review in her NA series, I really do think her bread and butter is paranormal romance. I felt that was a bold statement and that maybe I was just hoping that was the case. But, here comes Roth and all my doubts were obliterated-this was everything I’ve ever loved about JLA. I knew it. I just knew it.

I wasn’t thinking as I reached over and plucked the hamburger right out of his hand. Twisting at the waist, I threw the hamburger on the floor behind Roth as hard as I could. The satisfactory splat it made as ketchup and mayo splattered like a gruesome burger massacre brought a wide smile to my face.
Stacey let out a burst of shocked laughter.
Roth glanced down at the hamburger and then his gaze slowly tracked back to mine. His eyes were wide. “But I really wanted that hamburger.”

I was in a sleepy haze allll weekend. I’m not guna lie. It was a struggle to read any and every page for whatever reason (Hey, it was a busy weekend!) so I was extremely nervous it would effect my overall feeling for the whole novel. This is partly true, but it was so good that I still came out thinking, ‘Wow, 5 stars!!!’ I missed some of the sexiness. I missed some of the peril. But nothing can beat peril peril peril peril peril and sexy scene sexy scene sexy scene and a badass twist near the end….it was one hot or action-packed thing after another and it became difficult not to see what was right in front of my face. One thing I do know is that when book three comes out, I will be doing a re-read….and I never do re-reads (hardly) before a new release for a series. It takes too long and makes me all flighty. Point being-this will be like a whole new book to me when I re-read it because I missed so much.

I almost rushed Roth right then and threw my arms around him, but a low growl rumbled from behind me. At first I thought it was Abbot’s response, but when I realized it was coming from Zayne, I couldn’t move.
Roth tilted his head to the side, watching me as a slow, roguish smile graced his lips. “Are you…seriously growling at me, Stony?”
“I’m about to do a lot more than growl.”
He chuckled. “That’s not very appreciative.”

I will also admit another thing-to those of you who loathe love triangles, pass this one up. I’ve always thought Armentrout is very clear about who is going to be the final male in the end. It’s always been easy to tell. But…I think she was approached by her marketing people for this one because what was once a landslide victory for my dark demon Roth is now a murky, convoluted mess of a Zayne and Roth banana split. Seriously. This is her first novel where (everyone is supposed to vote for which guy she ends up with) I have no clue if my guy will win. Like….really? Why, Jen?? Whhhhyyyyy? It was excellent, sure. But it was also clear that Layla is in love with two guys. I’m not going to lie, though, I think her feelings are stronger for Roth. I really do. Zayne has been someone she’s loved since she met him. Roth is that fresh guy that swooped her up when Zayne didn’t want anything to do with her….and I think that really impacted her. She just won’t let him go….and I think Armentrout kinda did that on purpose-All of Zayne’s scenes were super hot and sweet and I wouldn’t DIE if she ended up with him because of all the nuts who would vote for him but I really and truly believe, that despite what JLA is saying on the voting page, she wants and believes she should be with Roth. It was like that in book one, and then it did a complete 360. And every word or phrase kinda hinted at how much Roth got under her skin and how he let her be herself. I loved that…and I think it was a true reflection on the author’s feelings. The truth of what she wants came out in her writing.

Roth came back up the step, crowding me. As he dipped his head so that his mouth nearly brushed mine when he spoke, I refused to back away. “I know why you say that. I even understand it, Layla. I get it. I hurt you and deserve every single one of your lies.”
I stilled as his warm breath danced over my lips.
“But there is so much you don’t know or understand,” he said, tilting his head so that his words brushed the lobe of my ear, sending a shiver down my neck. “So don’t claim to know what I really want or what I would do to protect it.”

I really have a soft spot for Layla. She’s funny, loyal, determined. She’s flawed and not altogether a goody-goody. I like her obsession with sweets (ie sugar cookie cookie-dough) because it helps her to satiate the urge she gets for soul-sucking lol. I love how that’s her replacement. I like how she interacts with her friends and how she doesn’t shy away from a battle. There are many things Layla is, including scared a lot of the time, but she’s not a coward. I love it.

“Shut up, whore of Satan.”
My mouth dropped open and my head was about to spin Exorcist-style. I stepped forward as Roth cracked his neck, signaling he was ready to end this little conversation. “Call me that one more time and I’ll give you something to fear.” I had no idea where those words came from because, even with Zayne’s training, I wasn’t really a fighter, and I wasn’t a badass, but my lips curved into a cold, tight smile. “That’s a promise.”

So, I will stop here because as I said, the details are fuzzy as it is and I will be re-reading this anyway but I’ll sum up a bit-The plot was super strong (for me) and there was a lot of love in this one. It wasn’t the loving I wanted but we still got plenty of each guy. I liked the mystery behind who was reeking havoc on the school and wardens alike, even more I liked the way Armentrout channeled her evil side again (she hasn’t been so evil since my fav books Obsidian, Onyx, and Opal) and let the blood and betrayal fly…and we know how I love that. I don’t know, I just really love this series, and even more I love that it’s a trilogy. 5 books is too many, three will sum this all up perfectly….and I can’t wait to see who our part demon chooses….you assholes better vote for Roth.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

Review:

*Spoilers if you haven’t read the previous books in the Lux Series*

Now THAT is how you finish a series! Opposition was fast paced, completely addicting, had me on the edge of my seat and the twists knocked the breath out of me. Some of those twists broke me and the tears refused to stop spilling down my face. And other twists had me crying tears of joy. Katy and Daemon had so much on the line and I was terrified for what the future had in store for them. How could they ever get past the disaster that was the ending of Origin? Daemon, Katy, Dee, Archer and the rest of the crew will always have a special place in my heart, and I will always treasure their journey in the Lux Series.

Katy – I was probably one step away from going to that dark corner in the room and rocking back and forth, but I couldn’t break down, and I couldn’t sleep. Not when Daemon was out there somewhere, and not when the whole world was on the verge of…hell, turning into a dystopia, like one of those novels I used to read.

Daemon and his siblings are gone. Daedalus was correct. And yet the world is still spinning, but how? Daedalus wasn’t lying when they said they were preparing for the Luxen to descend upon Earth and wipe out mankind. Daedalus wasn’t just creating fear when they asked Katy which side Daemon and his siblings would stand by. Katy, Beth, Archer and Luc have been left behind and finally decide that first things first, they have to help Beth. There are things every woman needs while being pregnant, regardless of whether they are caring a freaky little Origin or not, so off to the store Archer and Katy go. Not everything can go as planned, and while Katy and Archer are in the store the Luxen attack. These aren’t the friendly Luxen that we have grown to know and love, they are ruthless, heartless killers that are devoid of any emotion. Katy gets caught in the crossfire and Dawson appears and blasts Katy across the room. She was attacked by someone she considered a friend. Waking up, she finds herself in the lair of the aliens that have invaded that town. And things are all wrong. Dee isn’t right and Daemon treats her like when he first met her. They are just as cold as the newly arrived Luxen. The only reason her life was spared is because her death would equal Daemon’s death. Well, and besides the fact that Daemon would lose his play toy. While Katy’s heart is breaking into a million pieces, where will they all go from here?

Katy – He lowered his head until our mouths were so close that we were the same air. It was all so unfair. From the moment he’d disappeared, all I wanted was to see him again, to touch him and to love him, and now I didn’t really know what was standing in front of me.

This is one of my favorite series. Daemon Black will always be the one that I will hold all other BBFs against. His infuriating smug sexiness and bad-ass sexy self was so swoon worthy. And his need to take care of the ones he loved, above all else, was perfection in my eyes. And Katy turned into someone that I not only truly respected but is one of my favorite heroines. She was kick-ass, never took anyone’s crap and I loved every snarky comment that came out of her mouth! But Katy and Daemon together, OH WOW. Like I’ve said before, they are giggle inducing, their chemistry is through the roof hot, and they still have those moments that make you sigh and melt into a puddle. When you mix that in with secondary characters that will forever have a place in your heart and a storyline that was addicting, well, that creates books that are nearly impossible to put down. This is a book and a series that I cannot recommend highly enough! You can count on it that I will treasure all of the days that I will re-read this series again and again!

Katy – The kiss…holy alien babies, the kiss was a raw combination of lust and possession. There was a taste of desperation and anger as our teeth clanged, but the hand against my cheek was so gentle, barely there, and all those emotions were in the kiss…

Synopsis:

He's arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something...unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life...or is it Hunter?

Review:

I always thought everything was black and white while reading the first four books in the Lux Series. Arum are the bad guys and the Luxen are of course the good guys. How could it be anything else? But after reading Obsession, my little world has been shaken around and everything isn’t black and white anymore. It is all a huge shade of gray. So of course my mind is backtracking, re-thinking all of those scenes where the Luxen and Arum interacted in the previous books. It’s not how I thought it was at all. I’m so glad we got to meet Serena and hear Hunter’s story so we could understand the “bad” alien’s plight.

“Are you done acting like a psychotic, cracked-out Muppet baby?” he asked, and I could tell by the way his fingers spasmed around my wrists, he really wanted to shake me. “Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time.

Serena’s best friend confesses that the guy she was seeing is an alien. Not only did she overhear him and his brother arguing about Daedalus and Project Eagle, but she saw them turn into light bulbs. She’s desperately afraid that they are after her because she knows their secret. After a turn of events, Serena no longer thinks her friend is so crazy. She watched her friend get brutally murdered by one of those “light bulbs”. Scared out of her mind and thanks to the DOD she is ends up being stuck with Hunter as her protector. Because who would be the best person err alien to protect her from a Luxen? An Arum of course!

Hunter – I smiled then – a big, toothy idiotic smile – and Serena didn’t see it. Her eyes were closed, which was good, because I was turning into one big vagina.

Hunter was inappropriate in so many different ways and I couldn’t help but love him for all of his flaws. He was cocky, demanding, horribly blunt, never understood personal boundaries, patience would never be one of his virtues, and he had to have the dirtiest mind on the face of the planet. Wait, that last one is absolutely not a flaw! Hunter was seriously obsessed with anything and everything related to sex and his internal thoughts always cracked me up. But he had such a dark side to him. It almost felt at times as though it would swallow him whole. And during those times, I ached for him as he tried to fight his true nature. As he tried to fight the coldness that lived inside of him, the coldness that would try to overpower him and force his human side to slip away. But he tried his hardest to be good for Serena. The times where he would fight his inherent nature, oh wow, he was amazing! There’s a scene where he gently puts a tshirt on Serena and I couldn’t help sighing out loud. He had so much potential and I kept hoping that he would win the battle to fight his demons so we could see what would happen between the two of them.

Serena – High-stress situations amplified emotions. I knew this, and yet I’d allowed myself to fall for the extraterrestrial asshole.

I couldn’t help but like Serena. She reminded me so much of Katy. Her sassiness, spunk and ability to stand up to Hunter had me applauding for her. I don’t like my heroines to be doormats and Serena definitely had it in her to always throw it right back in Hunter’s face when he was being I’m-the-most-amazing-specimen-on-the-face-of-the-planet. And the chemistry between the two of them was hot! Sometimes a little too hot for my liking, I’m still getting use to stories having A LOT of steam in them, but I still enjoyed every moment that Hunter and Serena were together.

Hunter – Somehow, in the relatively short time I’d known Serena, she had wiggled her way into my cold body. She was my light, my warmth and I wasn’t ready to let her go.

I am anxious to see how Serena and Hunter will fit into the final book. Will they help or hinder Katy and Daemon’s plans? I have some ideas of how they will appear in the final book, View Spoiler » but only time will tell. I am extremely happy this book was added into the Lux Series. Understanding the history and learning more about the Arum was fascinating. I’m so glad I got to learn that the battle between the Arum and Luxen isn’t as black and white as I originally thought. There will always be good and bad within each race. And I can’t wait to see how their future unfolds.
