Ok, it has officially been a week since I finished this-I was in Antigua so no Internet connection to review….but even after a week I am still shocked into O M G mode that this book was so damn good.

I really figured it would be corny and just another YA paranormal romance. I was wrong. I loved Daemon, I loved Katy, and I loved Dee. I loved them all, which is very rare. Katy was a realistic heroine figure and she never once got on my nerves. Daemon….was definitely a douche..but I STILL loved him and hey, lets be realistic-I knew better than to fall for his facade. This book had it all-Suspense, romance (of course), a huge, dramatic fight-to-the-death scene at the end, and a cliff-hanger that had me cursing out loud that I was in another country and could not buy the second installment in the series. Needless to say, the minute I landed in the states I was seeking out Wi-fi connectivity in-between flights to get started on the second book in this awesome series. Loved it-another favorite added to the shelf.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Obsidian, and I loved Onyx. But I wasn’t AS wowed when I finished as when I finished the first. This one was great, but I guess it just bothered me a tad, and I say a tad because I know it shouldn’t all just work out perfectly right away, that Katy would not admit her feelings for Daemon. I mean, come on, just admit it! That part drove me crazy. And normally I could care less in a romance if there is lack of girlfriends, but I truly missed Dee in this one.

She was hardly in it and she is just the sweetest thing..weird thing to say I know, but she was so nice and fun in Obsidian that I missed her spunk in the second. I guess that made an impact of the intensity of the novel as well. And, as per her first book, there was another cliff hanger at the end of this one that had me scrambling yet again to another Wi-fi area to download book 3, Opal. I know there will be yet another cliff hanger at the end of Opal and it has me asking myself-What will I do when done with this third book..considering the fourth installment does not come out until July?…

Oh man did this book get me… It literally took me forever to finish the last 50 pages because I just KNEW that Jen was going to leave us with a killer cliffhanger-and that she did and then some. The previous two installments had cliffhangers that had you begging for more, but Opal left you feeling like you were a fish out of water gasping for breath with no relief. I was on the edge of my seat until the very last sentence, and it nearly killed me.

How am I going to wait until JULLLYYYY????

I am so addicted to this series, and I never knew about it until recently! Thank you Goodreads! I would never have found such an awesome series without using this site. This series was so unexpected..paranormal can be written stupidly, and frankly after all the paranormals I have read I have been trying to stay away from them. These books are far from stupid-they are beautifully written and even have you laughing out loud. I would have truly been missing out if I passed this series up-it has literally everything. Seriously. Love, loss, BETRAYAL to the nth degree, humor, suspense, action and more.

This is one of my new top favorite series and I suspect I will be re-reading it..despite my best efforts to move on and find another series until the sweet release of book 4 in July that will hopefully satisfy the gaping hole this book left in my heart. It will be virtually impossible. I would not pass this series by…it hooks you and leaves you begging for more.

“A certain bone-deep understanding occurred and my hand tightened around the smaller one I held. It weren’t stars we were staring at. The sky was falling.”

I’m not quite sure what to say right now. Daemon is just…he’s just special. When all else fails and I’m having a bad day, I turn to one of the Lux novels-they never fail to make me smile. We all knew that under that bad attitude was a guy who was falling madly in love with a human girl, and it makes for such a cute, endearing story, that I could never be disappointed with any of these books. What happened when I picked up this book, I will never be able to explain, but it felt like I was whole again the minute August 27th arrived and this bright blue cover was screaming at me from my ereader. These stories have the power to manipulate my attitude, good or bad, and Origin was no exception.

“..You’re my-you’re my everything, Kat.” At the sound of her soft inhale, I smiled again. “Come on, Kitten, did you really expect anything less from me? I love you.”

We start immediately where we left off in Opal. A heap of shit. View Spoiler » This was by far the darkest story yet. And I can’t say I didn’t miss the lightness of the first three installments. Sure, things have to rear their ugly head eventually, but I still missed what was in the other books.

He did something truly remarkable with hips, causing me to gasp.
“Yeah,” he said smugly. “I deserve another kiss.”
Yes. Yes he did.

Daemon. Oh Daemon. Daemon’s raw passion fueled the entirety of Origin. What he feels for Katy can’t be measured, and he makes sure everyone around knows it. He is a hard person-he’s had to be for his family’s safety. But when it comes to
his
girl, he is sweet, affectionate, kind-hearted, and gentle. No one can tell him he is wrong, because, well, he’s Daemon, right? No one tells him what to do, and when it comes to katy, he’d burn the whole world to keep her safe.

“Yes,” I said. “She is worth everything“.

Dawson is more ‘present’ in this one, both physically and mentally. But while Dawson and Daemon are carbon copies of one another, there is something that separates the twins. Daemon’s inner strength. What ultimately broke Dawson didn’t come close to touching Daemon. It’s not necessarily cockiness, but confidence, and that’s whyView Spoiler » No matter what they throw at him, he won’t break; he is both physically and mentally equipped to take care of business, no matter the cost, and that’s what makes him powerful. His loyalty, passion, and soul.

“I want a years-worth of seconds and minutes with you. I want a decade’s worth of hours, so many that I can’t add them up.”

For once, the banter wasn’t the star. Shit is real, and big things are happening. No one is safe-not even the main characters. There was a lot of death and destruction, I’m not going to lie to you. Unlikely allies will surface and those you thought were the most trustworthy are the ones to stab you in the back. Corruption in society and a new soon-to-be apocalypse is on the rise. What to do, where to go, and who to trust are only a handful of problems our little team of outsiders will face. You are in for a truly emotional ride.

Our compassion that night had been the final nail in our coffins. It was so ironically sad.

Happy tears, relieved tears, my bestie is awesome tears-you name ’em, I cried ’em. This book made me a sappy, squeeing mess. I never squee. Origin is a strong story about what you are willing to do to protect/save the ones you love, and to what lengths you are willing to go to find happiness.

Synopsis:

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring...until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review:

I love this series. No wait, I am obsessed with this series! Whether it’s the infuriating smug sexiness that is Daemon, or the strong-willed won’t take crap Katy, or the energetic lovable Dee or the annoying duo that is Ash and Andrew, I LOVED all of the characters in this book. And the story-line? Not only did it have me grinning like a loon and holding my breath, but I constantly found myself saying, “oh, just one more chapter” and you know how that usually ends up. Hours later and I still can’t stop. JLA has created the perfect world that I want to get lost in again and again.

For a moment, all I could do was stare at him. He was probably the hottest guy I’d ever seen in real life, and he was a total douche. Go figure.

Katy’s father passed away and her mom is in desperate need of a fresh start. So from Florida to West Virginia they go. In need of making her mom happy and looking for friends, she heads over to her next door neighbor’s house to ask for directions to the local supermarket and a place to buy plants. Simple, right? So wrong! Katy ends up meeting Daemon. Sexy, shirtless, exasperating Daemon who knows how to push Katy’s buttons and as she says “flip her bitch switch”. From there you get to follow Katy on her journey to discover that Daemon and his lovable sister, Dee, are aliens. And how being friends with an alien can seriously turn your life upside down and scrambling with the basic need of how in the world do I stay alive.

Okay. That was it. “You know, you’re right. How wrong of me to call you a douchebag. Because a douchebag is too nice of a word for you,” I said, smiling sweetly. “You’re a dickhead.”
“A dickhead?” He repeated. “How charming.”
I flipped him off.

Katy is by far one my favorite heroines. She never backs down from a challenge, doesn’t take any of the garbage Daemon is constantly throwing at her, she tries her hardest to be fearless and is the best friend out there. She is an admirable girl that anyone would be lucky to call their friend. But my favorite thing about her? Her sassiness! She is one of the few people who will actually take a stand against Daemon and put him in his place. Her comebacks were hilarious and at the same time you can feel her heart breaking a little each time Daemon is cold to her. What did she ever do wrong? Why can’t she be friends with his sister Dee? Why would that end the world? And why does he radiate so much pain when he lets his guard down for two seconds. And see, I find myself talking about Daemon. It’s kind of hard not to.

My lips pressed into a hard line. “You’re such an ass. Has…anyone ever told you that?” He flashed a genuinely amused smile. “Oh, Kitten, every single day of my blessed life.”

Oh, Daemon. He is by far my favorite BBF ever. He makes aliens sexy, and I never thought that was possible. Daemon has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He alone feels responsible for past events that shattered his heart into a million pieces. He alone feels responsible for taking care of his sister and the others since he is one of the most powerful of them. And he alone feels as though it is his duty to send Katy running as far away as humanly possible. But is that what he really wants? Daemon’s feelings towards Katy are a conundrum and you will feel as though you are suffering from whiplash. One moment his words are lashing out at her, begging her to leave them alone, and the next moment he is being his sexy, intoxicating self. Daemon will lull you into his web and even though you’ll want to kick him or punch him, you know you’ll never be able to do it. Because Daemon is the embodiment of infuriatingly sexiness. And heaven help me, but I fell for him hard.

Holding my breath, I reached up and brushed back a strand of hair. My fingers barely grazed his skin, but he sucked in a sharp breath and closed his eyes. I pulled my hand away, not sure why I’d done that.

The characters were addicting and impossible to get out of my head! The chemistry between Katy and Daemon was through the roof hot. There wasn’t a chapter that I wasn’t smiling at their passionate banter! And the story progressed at a perfect pace that always kept me intrigued and begging for more. Obsidian is an enchanting story that is just the start of Katy and Daemon’s journey. Even though I love this book with all of my heart, the Lux Series somehow progressively gets better and better with each future story. When you read this story, be prepared to become obsessed!

PS I highly recommend reading Shadows (A Lux Novel) by Jennifer L. Armentrout before reading this book!
