(Chelsea’s Choice – Review) |
1. The Diviners (The Diviners #1) by Libba Bray
Amazon * Goodreads
The friendships are pos-I-tute-ly to die for and I am obsessed with them all!
2. A Curse So Dark and Lonely (A Curse So Dark and Lonely #1) by Brigid Kemmerer
Amazon * Goodreads
Rhen and Grey have the most addicting friendship and I’m so here for it…and even more so is HARPER and Grey’s friendship. I love it all so much!

3. A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1) by V.E. Schwab
Amazon * Goodreads
Kell would do anything for Rhy…and I do mean anything. And Rhy loves him so much. I will never forget these guys-so addicting.
4. Spies, Lies, and Allies by Lisa Brown Roberts
Amazon * Goodreads
Laurel and her Dad came to become one of my favorite father/daughter relationships in any book I’ve read. It warmed my heart and there was so much emotion between the two of them.

5. The Uprising (The Union #3) by T.H. Hernandez
Amazon * Goodreads
One of my favorite things about this series was how friendships were cultivated throughout every moment. They were deep and meaningful. This time around I loved how Rainey and Cyrus had each others back in every way possible.
6. The Great Pursuit (Eurona Duology #2) by Wendy Higgins
Amazon * Goodreads
Not only did this book display strong, female friendships, which I loved! But it also displayed strong non-sexual friendships between males and females, which I loved too!

7. Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) by Sarah J. Maas
Amazon * Goodreads
Lysandra and Aelin – these two went from being enemies who were jealous of one another to the best of friends who would literally lay down their lives for the other. Maas might be known for her whirlwind romances but she also knows how to create some of the most powerful girl friendships I’ve ever read about!
8. My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren
Amazon * Goodreads
Millie and the boys – these guys were HILARIOUS together. I feel like Millie was the glue that kept all of the guys together and I loved reading their text exchanges.
(Arielle’s Choice) |
(Cassie’s Choice) |
9. First Test (Protector of the Small #1) by Tamora Pierce
Amazon * Goodreads
Kel and Neal – Neal was the first page to accept Kel when she started her training at the palace and quickly turned into her best friend. He was a nagging thorn in her side (lol) until they became knights and their friendship is one of my very favorites of all time!
10. A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab
Amazon * Goodreads
The friendship between Lila and Alucard is to die for. They are both smart, snarky and fiercely loyal. The fact that Kell is loved by Lila and (mostly) disliked by Alucard brings a whole additional layer to the friendship and their dynamic.

11. The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins
Amazon * Goodreads
The sisterly bond between Katniss and Prim will always be one of my favorite sibling relationships. The love Katniss has for Prim is above anyone or anything else and that is evident in the entire series, which makes the ending all the more tragic.
12. Legendary (Caraval #2) by Stephanie Garber
Amazon * Goodreads
Similar to the Hunger Games, the sisterly bond between Tella and Scarlett is so strong. Even with the crazy setting and the swoon-worthy boys, the sisters’ friendship is deep and it’s clear that no matter what, they will always care about and help each other.
So these are the Platonic Relationships In Books We Love. Do you share any of the same as us? If not, then what are your favorite platonic relationships in a book?
I love your answers! I totally agree with Aelin and Lysandra! Together they’re kickass! I also loved Laurel and her father’s relationship in Spies, Lies, and Allies even though I didn’t get some of their star wars references. A huge YES for Tella and Scarlett! 🙂

I was so sure that Lysandra was going to turn on Aelin in Queen of Shadows and I am SO GLAD they ended up becoming so close. Love it
Thanks Raven! Legendary really made me appreciate Tella and Scarlett’s relationship, much more so than Caraval. I’m super excited about Finale and see what’s in store for them!
I totally didn’t get the Stars Wars references either….it’s been way to many years since I’ve watched those movies lol. 🙂
So many excellent picks! I’m ecstatic to see Tella and Scarlett on some lists. They are such a lovely sister dynamic. I’m so curious to see where their stories go, and how they conclude. Also, yes! Lysandra and Aelin. Sometimes, I feel like their friendship is very underrated? Then again, I don’t really follow the fandom so maybe it’s more or less just I don’t follow anyone who is super appreciative towards them. Off note only slightly: talking about TOG reminds me I need to start Kingdom of Ash already. Great post!
I think people appreciate them more as the book goes on when Lysandra becomes closer and more important to Aelin and the books go on. But yes you need to read it!!!! It’s amazinggggg 😀
Thanks Jessica! I’m so excited for Finale to see how it is all wrapped up. I liked Caraval, but loved Legendary. It’s just so unique and I’m so invested in these characters!

I’m so happy to see The Diviners make your list! 🙂
Lauren @ Always Me
The relationship Millie and her boys shared was one of my favorite things about Half-Night Stand. I thought they had a fantastic dynamic, and the guys adoration for Millie was lovely.

Sorry I am only just seeing this now! I so agree. I love girl friendships of course but I always think there’s something really special about a guy/girl friendship too. Other than if one catches feelings, I like how there’s never any drama and the girl always seems to mother the guy lol. Usually a funny dynamic!
A lot of these books are on my TBR! However, I have read Legendary! Scarlet wasn’t my favorite person, and I have issues with her dress — haha! She never took it off! Was it self-cleaning?? 😉
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?

Ha Lindsi! You bring up an excellent point about the dress! I assumed since everything was so magical, her dress was no exception 🙂

Ooh Hunger Games *nods* and The Diviners! I wanted to read that…

I was nodding my head along to Cassie’s comment about THG too! 🙂
Great post!! Thanks so much for including The Union series! The scenes in Mexico with Rainey and Cyrus were among my favorite to write in the entire series.
You’re so welcome and I LOVED those scenes! It made me see Rainey in a completely different light and I also loved seeing the friend side of Cyrus. I think I need a re-read, I’ve been missing those characters a lot lately. ♥
ADSOM is one of my favorite series ever. I love all the relationships in those books.
