Price of a kissMason Lowe
from Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage (review)

Leaning down, he hugged me and buried his face in my neck. “It feels like a dream, like I’m going to wake up any second and you’ll be gone. I don’t want to wake up from this.”

to professor, with love linda kageNoel Gamble
from To Professor, With Love by Linda Kage (review)

“You. Are. Mine … I don’t care how wrong we are for each other. I don’t care that I’ll never be good enough for you or that we’re risking everything to be together. Your mother would never approve. Whatever. Fuck it all. You are fucking mine. And I’m yours. And we belong together.”

Todd from The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking #1) by Patrick Ness (review)

Life ain’t fair.
It ain’t.
Not never.
It’s pointless and stupid and there’s only suffering and pain and people who want to hurt you. You can’t love nothing or no one cuz it’ll all be taken away or ruined and you’ll be left alone and constantly having to fight, constantly having to run just to stay alive.

When everyone knows you’re a monster, you needn’t waste time doing every monstrous thing.

Ugly LoveMiles
from Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover  (review)

He brings his hands up and slides them though my hair, brushing his thumbs across my cheeks. He inhales a shaky breath while looking down at my mouth. “You make it so hard to breathe.”

my heart and other black holesRoman from My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga  (review)

“Be careful,” he says.
“Why?” I’m not thinking about being careful. I’m thinking about one last push, of letting go, of flying, and of falling.
“You aren’t allowed to die without me,” he whispers.

Kell from A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1) by V.E. Schwab  (review)

Kell had fought before, but never like this, never for his life. He’d gotten into his fair share of scrapes (most of them Rhy’s fault) and had had his fair share of bruises, but he’d always walked away intact. He’d never been seriously hurt, never struggled to keep his own heart beating. Now he feared that if he stopped fighting, if he stopped forcing his feet forward and his eyes open, that he might actually die. He didn’t want to die.

thoughtless sc stephensKellen Kyle from  Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

“What if I don’t choose you, Kellan? What will you do?”
He looked away, a tear rolling down his cheek. “I’ll leave, Kiera. I’ll leave, and you and Denny can have your happily ever after.” He looked back at me. “You wouldn’t even need to tell him about me. Eventually, the two of you…” his voice broke and another tear fell on his cheek, “the two of you would get married, and have children, and have a great life.”
I fought back a sob. “And you? What happens to you in that scenario?”
“I…get by. And I miss you, every day,” he whispered.”

Anew The Archers of Avalon by Chelsea FineTristan Archer from Anew (The Archers of Avalon #1) by Chelsea Fine   (review)

It would happen. Tristan couldn’t stop it. And, if he really cared about Scarlet, he shouldn’t stop it. But that didn’t make the thought of them together any less gut-wrenching.
Tristan stared blankly at the floor as a piece of his heart broke.
His very real, very existent heart.
And so it begins.

I didn’t . . . I didn’t deserve this with her.
I didn’t deserve her in general.

Fine Best Kind of BrokenLevi Andrews from Best Kind of Broken (Finding Fate #1) by Chelsea Fine   (review)

My eyes drop to her mouth, her throat, her hands. Every instinct I have is screaming to touch her. To cross the space between us and wrap my arms protectively around her small frame. To shield her from all the bad things, the sorrowful things. All the things I’m made of.

But that can’t happen. We can’t happen.

sweet evil wendy higginsKaidan Rowe from Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy #1) by Wendy Higgins   (review)

“Which was your favorite place?” I asked.
“I’ve never been terribly attached to any place. I guess it would have to be… here.”
I stopped midchew and examined his face. He wouldn’t look at me. He was clenching his jaw, tense. Was he serious or was he teasing me? I swallowed my bite.
“The Texas panhandle?” I asked.
“No.” He seemed to choose each word with deliberate care. “I mean here in this car. With you.”

i wish you were mine lauren layneJackson Burke from I Wish You Were Mine (Oxford, #2) by Lauren Layne   (review)

His mouth lifted in a half smile.  “Trust me, apologizing wasn’t on the agenda, but that was. . . that was a mistake.”
Her heart twisted, and she wanted to retort that the best kiss of her life had not been a mistake.  That a kiss like that could mean only good things.
But of course he was right.  The two of them . . . they couldn’t.
She closed her eyes.  This was a mess.

i'll meet you there heather demetriosJosh Mitchell from I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios   (review)

“This buddy of mine always tells me—” He stopped for a second and tapped his key against the steering wheel. I waited for him to finish his thought, but it was like he’d already gotten out of the truck. Like Mom, he wasn’t there.
“Josh?” I reached out to touch his arm, but he jerked away.
“I’m fine,” he snapped.
“Okay,” I said, my voice soft.

Rhysand from A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas  (review)

“But then she snapped your neck.”

Tears rolled down his face.

“And I felt you die,” he whispered.”

Froi from Froi of the Exile (Lumatere Chronicles #2) by Melina Marchetta  (review)

“He took her face in his bloody hands. ‘I’ll come and find you wherever you are. I’ll not stop breathing until I do. So you’re going to have to promise me that you won’t lose hope. That you will keep yourself alive.’

He tried to wipe her tears, but there were too many.

‘I heard your song the moment we were born,” she sobbed. “And years later, it dragged me back from the lake of the half-dead when all I wanted to do was die. Each time someone tried to kill me, it sang its tune and gave me hope.'”

Thomas Mackee from The Piper’s Son by Melina Marchetta  (review)

“I can do oblivion, you know. I can do it better than him. I’d like to see how he likes it if I just disappear from his life without a word. It was okay for him to keep in contact with Georgie and my mum, but not once did he pick up the phone or write to me. Like I was fucking nothing to him. Like I’m nothing to no one.”

Todd from The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking #1) by Patrick Ness

“And someone calls, “Murderer!” from across the square.

But of course it can’t be her –

But at least there’s someone. At least there’s someone.”

Jonah from Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta  (review)

“Please don’t be crazy, Taylor,” Griggs whispers, leaning his head against mine. “Please don’t be crazy.” He kisses me, holding my face between his hands, whispering over and over again, “Please”.

Fitz from Assassin’s Apprentice (Farseer Assassin #1) by Robin Hobb  (review)

“Come, hunt with me, the invitation whispers in my heart. Leave the pain behind and let your life be your own again. There is a place where all time is now, and the choices are simple and always your own.

Wolves have no kings.”

Vo from City of Stairs (City of Stairs #1) by Robert Jackson Bennett  (review)

“But if it was your words they taught me as a child, and if it’s your words that encourage this vile and self-disgust, this ridiculous self-flagellation, this incredibly damaging idea that to be human and to love and to risk making mistakes is wrong, then… Well, I guess fuck you, Father Kolkan.”

Kell from A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1) by V.E. Schwab  (review)

“You could at least pretend to be grateful.”

“And you couldn’t have picked something a little more…I don’t know…imposing?”

“…A bloody handprint?” retorted Rhy. “Oh, what about a glowing black eye?”

Kell glowered.

“You’re right,” continued Rhy, “I should have just drawn a frowning face. But then everyone would know it’s you.”

Charlie from Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King  (review)

“There was a reason Charlie was such a bright blazing sun. He came from endless cold, black space.”

RHYS AND KELL ♥ That’s all I will ever need. Also…Anna…that quote. Kills me EVERY. FREAKING. TIME. Definitely his #1 tortured moment too, I would think. Again, happy blogiversary. You ladies are the best! 🙂

Thank you!!! And OMG I KNOW RIGHT THAT QUOTE IS EVERYTHING OMG <33 Every time I read it I'm like awwww baby Rhys <33 And I knew it in ACOTAR - he wasn't acting like a villain and he cared (he saved her!) Sigh. I need a reread SOON.AND KELL!!! POOR BABY! My frowning boy ♥

I love Rhys, too! The way he was so cunning and such a bastard in ACOTAR (I kinda hated him, he was so annoying) but then became endearing in ACOMAF. When I read rhys’ name, the first thing I remember is…the size of his wings. *cackles* no, really, his sacrifice and how he let amarantha play with his body to protect his people.
