MS_SBPR_TR

Moonlight Seduction: A de Vincent Novel from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout is coming June 26th and we have the trailer reveal!

About Moonlight Seduction:

MoonlightSeduction mm c The de Vincent brothers are back—and so is the intrigue that surrounds them—in New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s sizzling new novel . . .

Nicolette Bresson never thought she’d return to the de Vincents’ bayou compound. It’s where her parents work, where Nikki grew up . . . and where she got her heart broken by Gabriel de Vincent himself. Yet here she is, filling in for her sick mother. Avoiding Gabe should be easy, especially when so much of Nikki’s time is spent trying not to be stabbed in the back by the malicious hangers-on who frequent the mansion. But escaping memories of Gabe, much less his smoking-hot presence, is harder than expected—especially since he seems determined to be in Nikki’s space as much as possible.

Gabriel spent years beating himself up over his last encounter with Nikki. He’d wanted her then, but for reasons that were bad for both of them. Things have now changed. Gabe sees more than a girl he’s known forever; he sees a smart, talented, and heartbreakingly beautiful woman . . . one who’s being stalked from the shadows. Now, Gabe will do anything to keep Nikki safe—and to stop the de Vincent curse from striking again.

Synopsis:

Lauren's senior year is going exactly as planned. Her craft blog is getting more visitors every day, and she knows what she's going to do with her life after graduation: get her associate's degree, marry someone fabulous, and live happily ever after.

Sure, she doesn't know what she's going to get that degree in...and there's no Prince Charming on the horizon yet. But, still, that's the plan. At least it is until her older brother’s cocky best friend shows up out of nowhere and announces he’s moving in.

Now Lauren’s crafting area has been relegated to the garage, and Harrison’s stuff has taken over the guest house—her guest house. He’s the only boy she’s ever despised, and he’s always there, getting under her skin, looking and smelling just a little too incredible for Lauren’s good. She wants to hate him...but she's going to have to stop daydreaming about him first.

Lauren's counting down the days until Harrison leaves. But when time runs out, will she be able to let him go?

Review:

Glitter and Sparkle was the cutest book ever!  If you’re a fan of Cookie O’Gorman, or even the feelings you got while watching the movie Clueless, then you definitely have to give this one a try!  From that very first chapter, I found myself laughing so hard I couldn’t catch my breath.  And as I dived deeper into the story, I had butterflies, couldn’t knock the smile off of my face, I kept sighing and then gasping out loud and I fell madly in love with the story and characters.  This book is definitely going on my favorites list and I can’t recommend it enough!

Why did Harrison, of all people, have to grow up to be so devastatingly good looking? It’s such a shame.
It’s such a waste.

Right from the start I loved Lauren!  She has the most adorable voice. She was honest, heartfelt, and I loved her passion for crafting and her blog.  She pulled me right in and she was someone I would love to be best friends with!  On top of that, she has an annoying older brother, who’s away at college. But they definitely love each other.  And her parents reminded me so much of mine, especially when I was in High School. They were caring and involved in her life.  But Lauren’s wonderful little world is about to get very complicated when her brother’s best friend, Harrison, ends up moving in with them.  Even though he’s also her mom’s best friend’s son, they haven’t seen each other in seven years since his family moved away.  Their past was filled with Harrison teasing or being awful to Lauren. And well, not much has changed lol!

Then he strides to me and does the unthinkable—he sets his hands on my shoulders and leans down.
And, much to my horror, my heart stops. It just
stops. I go cold and then hot, and every square inch of me tingles. Oh, and I hate him. But good heavens, his lips look scrumptious.

Ohhhhhh I loved Harrison SO much!!  Harrison could be so sweet, thoughtful and caring but in the next minute he could be the biggest douche on the planet to Lauren.  It was so much fun!  I loved watching what he would say or do to get a rise out of Lauren, because I’d find myself gasping and then laughing so hard I’d have tears pouring down my face.  But I was left feeling so guilty because I loved Lauren, and the games Harrison played with her was sooooo bad.  It was all so hilarious, but oh so wrong, on so many levels. And I loved every twisted moment of it! But regardless of what Harrison would say or do to Lauren, I loved him with my whole heart and soul.  Harrison was so charming and captivating and he sailed right to the top of my book boyfriends list!

He stretches higher, and his shirt shifts a little more. “Like this?”
Bad Lauren.
I rub a spot behind my ear, feeling a little guilty. “Maybe just a little higher…” Oh, I give up. I can look at him, can’t I?
I can detest someone while admiring their hotness?

So the story followed Lauren through her final year of High School.  And I have to give a warning that there were jumps in time. It made me pause the first few times it happened, but I quickly warmed up to how the story progressed.  Lauren was big into drama, and a guy she always had a crush on ended up being roped into her class.  Grant was an all-star athlete and since he needed to bring up his grade, his coach forced him to take drama.  You could tell that Grant really liked Lauren and it was cute to watch their awkward moments together. From accepting rides with Grant, to hanging out, to even dating, it all progressed easily.  But her feelings for Grant? They weren’t anything like her feelings towards Harrison.

Then there’s Harrison. He stands, his hands in his pockets, his eyes on me. The world fades; he’s all I see. All I want to see.

Lauren tried her hardest, but she couldn’t ever get Harrison out of her head.  And as time passed, Harrison became even more involved in her life.  He was always there. Through her worst moments. To her happiest moments.  He always seemed to be in the background witnessing her life unfold. And as Lauren started to know more about Harrison, she saw this other side of him.  The one he kept hidden. Harrison could be so considerate and kind to Lauren.  And sometimes it seemed to happen at the worst moments, and my heart started to break for him.  I even got tears in my eyes a few times. But Harrison made it clear that he was not interested in Lauren.  And to complicate matters, her best friend Riley crushed so hard on him.  But Lauren shouldn’t be jealous because she was supposed to be with Grant…..right?

“I thought you decided high school girls are off limits,” I whisper as I lean forward.
“They are.” His breath tickles my lips, making me feel heady and reckless.
“Then what are we doing?”
“Breaking the rules.”

This was a book I hope all of my friends will read!  This was such a heartfelt book and I loved ever single minute of it!  Between the back and forth banter, the scenes that made me laugh and cry and the beautiful characters, it was just all so perfect!  And as if that wasn’t enough, the epilogue was the most amazing thing ever!    If you are an epilogue junkie, like me, you’re going to love it so much!!  Now I’m off to go read the next book in this series that’s about her best friend!

Synopsis:

Clio might be a nymph living in exile among humans. And she might possess the rare ability to mimic any magic she sees. And she might have just seriously ticked off the most powerful family of spell weavers in the Underworld.

But she is not in love with an incubus.

Lyre is the rebellious black sheep of said weaver family, and he's the only reason she survived her recent Underworld "vacation." He's also the sexiest thing she's ever seen. Together, they have to track down a catastrophically dangerous magic--a magic he created, she sort of stole, and they both lost--before his family gets their hands on it. And that means fighting alongside him in a desperate attempt to avert complete disaster.

But she is definitely not in love with him. At least, she's pretty sure she's not.

Mostly sure. Maybe sure?...Crap.

Review:

*Spoilers for The Night Realm, you can read my review for the previous book here.*

The Shadow Weave was a thrill of a ride and peril filled the pages.  It made this book impossible to put down and I kept hoping that Lyre and Clio would catch a break.  While that rarely seemed to happen, I still found lightness in so many different moments.  Friendship, loyalty, love and laughter could be found within the pages and I absolutely loved that.  So if you adore Urban Fantasy stories that keep you on the edge of your seat and has a romance laced throughout the pages, then this is definitely a series you have to check out!

Leaving the weapon embedded in his body, she stepped into his field of vision.
“How does it feel?” she hissed.
His eyes bulged. Blood bubbled from his mouth and he toppled over with the sword impaled in his back.

Clio and Lyre escaped from the Underworld.  And they both had a common goal in place. To travel to the Overworld and get back the KLOC before it caused chaos and ruin in their worlds.  And while they faced countless obstacles that at times seemed insurmountable, they were being hunted. I literally screamed out loud when I discovered who was hunting them.  Ugh. And even then, I still kept hoping that there would be light at the end of their tunnel. But their lives were now brutal, so hold on because this story definitely gets intense.

He’d intended to release her immediately, but his arms tightened instead. Wrapped around her small frame, his cheek pressed against her hair and his eyes squeezed shut, he held her to him. For one brief moment, he allowed himself to acknowledge his pathetic relief that he wasn’t alone in this.
And how petrified he was of the moment when he’d have to face this new future on his own.

While horrific events kept unfolding, they discovered how much they relied on one another.  Not only did they fight adversaries together, but they put their lives in each other’s hands time and again.  It was emotional and beautiful to watch.  And through it all, a true friendship started to blossom.  Even with that sexual tension between them. And it didn’t matter that they were from different worlds or that they knew they shouldn’t be together.  They fit perfectly and the chemistry was impossible to ignore!

“So you’d rather pretend you don’t want me?” His hands slid around her waist then down over her backside. He pulled her hips hard into his and his mouth dropped closer again, lips brushing against hers as he spoke. “Because I don’t want to pretend anymore.”

So just like Clio, I found myself falling even harder for Lyre.  But at the same time, my heart ached for him since he left his whole life behind.  Thankfully he had Clio who he could count on, but even she was keeping secrets from him.  Although with his quirky sense of humor and his ability to be extremely bold to Clio, he added so much light to their dire situation.  And Lyre was such a charmer who was also perfect at the art of seduction……I love him so much! So I was extremely happy to see that Clio felt like his equal.  She progressed so much since the beginning.  Clio’s fighting skills were admirable and she was officially kick ass.  Together they were a sight to behold.

She should have been afraid. She should have been quaking with terror, but rage and anguish pumped through her veins.

The Shadow Weave was such a fabulous addition to the Spell Weaver Trilogy and I can’t wait to see how the final book plays out!  While I could have done with some shorter fight scenes, I still found myself enthralled with the story and I couldn’t help but love these characters!  And that ending?! Ohhhhhhhhh it was epic! It has me ecstatic to see what will happen next!

About Annette Marie:

Annette Marie is the author of the Amazon best-selling Steel & Stone series, which includes Goodreads Choice Award nominee Yield the Night, and fantasy trilogy Red Winter. Her first love is fantasy, but fast-paced adventures and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada (okay, it’s not quite that bad) with her comparatively sensible husband and their furry minion of darkness—sorry, cat— Caesar. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.

TOP TEN TUESDAY – Books We Loved but Will Never Re-Read

Top Ten Tuesday.13

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
This week is Books We Loved but Will Never Re-Read
Seems like an easy enough TTT right?!  Wellllllllll this created the most hilarious, drama inducing texts.  You see, we’re really possessive and sensitive when it comes to our book boyfriends.  Arielle put The Selection which has Chelsea’s Maxon.  Chelsea put Anew which has my Tristan and she also put Safe Haven which has Josh Duhamel on the cover (I’ve loved him for-ev-er), and I put The Fever Series which has Chelsea’s Jericho.  Words were said, people tried to explain themselves and well it ended up being an emotional mess!  At the end of it all we were laughing so hysterically that both Chelsea’s husband and mine asked us why we were laughing so hard.  What was so funny?  HA!  It was so ridiculous and hilarious and we definitely proved how loyal we are to our book boys!!  So here the books we won’t ever read again……

Jen’s Choice

Jen’s Choice

1. Darkfever (Fever #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Amazon * Goodreads
If a series has more books than thee books then I find myself needing the romance to play a more dominant role.  And while this series is still one of my favorites, and I loved Mac and Barrons, the element of romance was definitely lacking for me.  So I can’t ever see myself reading these books again.

2. Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth
Amazon * Goodreads
I loved this trilogy.  And I more than got why it had to end the way it did.  I think I was one of the rare ones, since I thought it ended the way it should.  But I have no desire to revisit the inevitable heartache all over again.

3. Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy #1) by Danielle L. Jensen
Amazon * Goodreads

I absolutely loved this book!  It was beautiful, enchanting and I swore it would become one of my favorite series.  Ever.  But the last book RUINED this series for me.  It was nothing like the first book I fell in love with and I was left extremely bitter and angry about the ending.  Yes I know I’m emotional lol.  So not only will I not ever pick this book back up again but I will never read anything by this author again too.

4. Love Show by Audrey Bell
Amazon * Goodreads
Jack was one of the most EPIC boys ever….and I believe he was truly screwed over in this story. It sold him short and this book broke me into a million pieces. Yes-it has a HEA. No. It did not make me happy [after the shit show in the end]. Sometimes one moment alters a whole novel-this is the case here, unfortunately. #BITTER.

5. Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1) by Tahereh Mafi
Amaon * Goodreads
Amazing book. Amazing boy. Amazing story. I fell hard. I fell fast. Author changed my boy’s personality to the point of no recognition. AUTHOR IS ON AUTO DO-NOT-READ list. Chelsea is FURIOUS. #BITTERER  (Jen agrees with this too!)

6. Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
Amazon * Goodreads
Yeah, random. I literally JUST saw this movie playing on tv yesterday…was so excited Because I loved the book AND movie…until I started watching and realized I now am married AND have a girl AND-when I saw him moving on with another woman and they start talking about his dead wife (he also has children)-I can’t 🙌. Just can’t. Tap out. I started BAWLING. #DidISayBitter ?

Chelsea’s Choice

Arielle’s Choice

7. Anew (The Archers of Avalon #1) by Chelsea Fine
Amazon * Goodreads
This series, frankly, is really only a case of being underwhelmed by the final book and everyone else I read it with LOVING THE END. Nothing kills a reading boner like being  the loser in the group wondering why you’re broken lol. #NotSoBitter

8. Paper Princess (The Royals #1) by Erin Watt
Amazon * Goodreads
This is one of those books and series that people either loved or hated when it came out.  I personally am OBSESSED  with Elle Kennedy’s writing (who is half of the Erin Watt pseudonym) but this series turned a little too wildly unbelievable and dramatic with people mysteriously coming back from the dead and even just the blown up reputation of the Royal boys for me to make any recs.

Arielle’s Choice

Arielle’s Choice

9. The Selection (The Selection #1) by Kiera Cass
Amazon * Goodreads

Don’t get me wrong, I ate these books up when they came out during the time of the dystopian craze.  It was a fresh new premise that no one had really done before but in the end, Cass didn’t pull it off to my liking.  There wasn’t nearly enough world building and I felt like there was way too much skipped over and left unexplained in favor of the romance (which to me isn’t really what dystopians are all about).

10. Evermore (The Immortals #1) by Alyson Noel
Amazon * Goodreads
It’s been so long since I’ve originally read this series that I can’t even really tell you what they were about.  I do know that I read them as soon as they each came out and loved them at the time but when I stumbled across them on one of my shelves on Goodreads, the ONLY thing I could remember was that the two main characters spend the ENITRE series trying to reverse this weird curse in which they hadn’t been able to have skin-to-skin contact so they could pick up where they had been disrupted by some ordeal in the first book and have sex–I wish I was kidding.

So these are the Books We Loved but Will Never Re-Read. Do you have any of these books on your won’t-ever-read-again-list?  Or are you upset to see any of them on here….like we were with each other lol!
