This week is Books That Surprised Us, In A Good Way.  And they are……

Arielle’s Choice

Arielle’s Choice

1. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Amazon * Goodreads
This book is a prime example of why you SHOULD NOT judge a book by it’s cover–and boy am I still kicking myself in the butt over it.  There is nothing cheesy or cartoon-y about these characters.  Lucy is a hilarious little spitfire and Josh is the epitome of big and broody with a secret heart of gold.  Let’s just say that when I finished I IMMEDIATELY started re-reading.

2. A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas
Amazon * Goodreads
After not being impressed with book one, I picked this book up about a month after it came out….and have read it eight times since.  There is something about Feyre’s journey through her PTSD and coming out on the other side an entirely changed and healed person that really got to me and probably will forever.  And come on, who could ever resist Rhys and the Night Court?! Certainly not me.

3. The Girl with the Red Balloon (The Balloonmakers #1) by Katherine Locke
Amazon * Goodreads

I requested an ARC of this purely on a whim.  I have always *liked* historical fiction but it has never been my go-to on any occasion.  Thank God I decided to read this though because I was swept up into this world of magic and East Berlin circa 1980s–something I had never known about previously.  The history and relationships and story line were pure. Freaking. Gold.

4. The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey #2) by Julie Kagawa
Amazon * Goodreads
The first book of this series made me pause.  I loved the beginning and the end of it, but the middle?  With all of the creatures?  That was a little outside my comfort zone.  Yet I loved the characters, so I picked up this next book.  And my love for this series was cemented.  The characters, the writing, the emotions that made my heart soar and cry, it was all so breathtaking.  This became one of my favorite series ever!

5. The Vincent Boys: Extended and Uncut (The Vincent Boys, #1) by Abbi Glines
Amazon * Goodreads
Normally I loathe books about cheating.  It’s all very black and white to me.  But a friend told me to have faith, so I picked this book up.  And I was shocked when I realized how much I wanted Ash and Beau to cheat. I wanted to see them together, because their friendship was beautiful and their chemistry was addicting.  And the other relationship?  You’ll see what I mean…..so yes, this book was a complete surprise!

6. Full Tilt (Full Tilt, #1) by Emma Scott
Amazon * Goodreads
A book where one of the leads is most likely to die?  No.  I couldn’t handle that.  Yet again, I put my trust in a friend and I started this book.  And I fell madly in love.  So I must advise you to step into this story at your own risk, because your heart will definitely be on the line and put through the wringer. But it’s worth it. I swear. It’s more than worth it.

7. About That Kiss (Heartbreaker Bay, #5) by Jill Shalvis
Amazon * Goodreads
I liked Jill Shalvis books, but none of them made me feel completely and utterly addicted to the story-line.  Until I read Joe and Kylie’s story.  They captured my heart, the sexual tension between the two of them was scorching hot, and I could not put this book down!

8. An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
Amazon * Goodreads
A book so out of my comfort zone I had no hope of even enjoying…it became an instant unforgettable favorite because of Rook and Isobel’s amazing journey-together.

9. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
Amazon * Goodreads

l literally, LITERALLY, picked this out at the last minute, thinking all the while that it wasn’t that impressive. Until it was. Until it killed me with feels. Until I STILL CANNOT STOP REMEMBERING IT EVERY DAY.

10. #Nerd (Hashtag #1) by Cambria Hebert
Amazon * Goodreads

What can I say??? This book was just supposed to be a fun little read-then Romeo BECAME MY LIFE, and soon became my number one [new] BBF of 2017. Simply unforgettable, to me.

TOP TEN TUESDAY – Books We Could Re-read Forever

Top Ten Tuesday.13

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
This week is Books We Could Re-read Forever.  These are the stories that we love with our whole heart and soul.  And these are the books that we wish all of our friends would pick up and read.  We can’t help but gush about these books that constantly beg us to pick them up again and again.  So here are our top twelve Books We Could Re-read Forever.

Chelsea’s Review

Chelsea’s Review

1. The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins
Amazon * Goodreads
No matter how many times I pick this series up, it enraptures and ensures me.  And I’ll never forget that this is the series that helped me to become obsessed with reading AGAIN-I’ll be forever grateful.

2. Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee
Amazon * Goodreads
My snarky Raffe never ceases to put a smile on my face, and his and Penryn’s relationship from hate-to-love is unforgettable.  I don’t think I could ever be tired of this story.

3. Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo
Amazon * Goodreads

Kaz.  Kaz’s cunning, amazing, deceptive nature…it takes my breath away EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.  I think about this book so frequently it’s ridiculous-it will always be a forever favorite.

4. A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1) by V.E. Schwab (Victoria Schwab)
Amazon * Goodreads
This book was one that took me wholly by surprise.  I met Kell and my heart went crazy (much like when I met Kaz in Six of Crows-it was instant), making this yet another book that stole my heart in less than a moment.  This story will always be one I could read over and over again to lift my spirits.

Arielle’s Choice

5. A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas
Amazon * Goodreads
After reading this book (and then immediately re-reading) I can easily say that it’s my favorite book of all time.  While I didn’t fall head over heels with the first book in the series, Feyre’s journey to emotional healing and finding her mate in this one was too addicting.  Plus you can’t mess around with the hilariously, loveable squad that is the Night Court.

6. Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
Amazon * Goodreads
Who doesn’t love this book?!  It’s a classic fairy tale/ fantasy about a young woman who ends up breaking her own curse because of her strength, bravery, and love.  There are fairy godmothers, mythical creatures, a couple of nasty step sisters, AND one dashing Prince Char.  What more could you want?

Arielle’s Choice

Arielle’s Choice

7. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Amazon * Goodreads
I couldn’t NOT add these to my list.  Even though I haven’t read them in what feels like years, I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve read and re-read these babies in the past.  These books are one of the main reasons I fell in love with reading.  I CAN’T wait to read them with my daughter someday.

8. The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare
Amazon * Goodreads
I have two words for you: William Herondale.  Only slightly joking there, but in all honesty, I have always loved books set in Victorian England.  There’s something so magical about that time and place.  Plus I can relate to the MC Tessa in numerous different ways, the main one being that she loves her books just as much as I do.

9. Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Amazon * Goodreads

Daemon Black will always be the one that I will hold all other BBFs against. His infuriating smug sexiness and bad-ass sexy self was so swoon worthy.  And Katy turned into someone that I not only truly respected but is one of my favorite heroines.  Together they are giggle inducing, their chemistry is through the roof hot, and they still have those moments that make you sigh and melt into a puddle.  I love this series so much!

10. Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas
Amazon * Goodreads
Hate to love that was beautifully done!  I was obsessed with Ryen, who came off not only confident but intoxicating too. Whether it was the looks he would give, or the words he would choose to use, he always left me wanting more  This book was insanely seductive and emotionally raw and soooo addicting!

11. Come Back to Me (Come Back to Me #1) by Mila Gray
Amazon * Goodreads
I loved this story of forbidden love and falling in love for the first time.  It slowly enraptured my heart and I fell hard for Kit & Jessa’s story.  A month doesn’t go by where I don’t grab this book and read a scene here and there to feel all of their emotions it all over again.

12. The Union (The Union #1) by T.H. Hernandez
Amazon * Goodreads
Cyrus was sweet, patient and was someone that was discreetly captivating and pulled you in.  He gave me butterflies and also made me smile and swoon.  And when you add in romance, action, torture, twists, friendship and political intrigue filling the pages, well then it’s no wonder how many times I have picked up this series again and again!

So these are our Books We Could Re-read Forever.  Are you obsessed about any of these books or series too?  Or do you have them on your tbr?  If not, then what books are you obsessed about?

TOP TEN TUESDAY – Favorite Hate to Love Romances

Top Ten Tuesday.13

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
This week was a Love Freebie!  So we chose a topic that we are all obsessed about…… hate to love romances.  We are sooooooo addicted to those.  So here are 13 of our Favorite Hate to Love Romances…….

Jen’s Review
Chelsea’s Review

Jen’s Review

1. Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas
Amazon * Goodreads
Jen – This book was both scorching hot and utterly heartbreaking.  Misha was brutal to Ryen, he was hurtful, mean and viscous.  BUT I more than got why he acted that way to her.  So it was impossible to be upset with him.  This is definitely one of my top favorite hate to love romances!!
Chelsea – I don’t know that I’ve read a more ‘hate’ to love romance ever-the vehemence with which Misha hates Ryen is breathtaking…and it makes you fall all the harder.

2.Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Amazon * Goodreads
Daemon’s feelings towards Katy are a conundrum and you will feel as though you are suffering from whiplash. One moment his words are lashing out at her, and the next moment he is being his sexy, intoxicating self.  I wanted to kick and punch him, but heaven help me because I fell for him hard.

3. Good Girl by Lauren Layne
Amazon * Goodreads

Noah was hurtful to Jenny.  He was the biggest jerk.  Actually, jerk is too nice of a word.  He was the biggest asshole.  Yet Noah completely deserved my love….you’ll find out why.  Annnndddddd – Who knew pink zip ties could be so sexy?!?!?!

4. Anew (The Archers of Avalon #1) by Chelsea Fine
Amazon * Goodreads
Tristan completely won over my heart and soul. His dark, sarcastic humor was intoxicating. His selflessness and bravery was endearing. But even though he was cold and standoffish to Scarlet, I couldn’t get enough of him. Tristan was everything I love, and so much more.

5. Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee
Amazon * Goodreads
They’re enemies.  His kind has destroyed her world.  And even though Raffe is a creature who could decimate Penryn in a second, she stood up to him.  Oh my gosh…..I just loved how their relationship evolved as this trilogy progressed!

6. Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms #1) by Morgan Rhodes
Amazon * Goodreads
Ahhhh my favoritessss-Magnus really doesn’t like ANYONE…but he begins to find he has a soft spot for the girl with golden hair and blue eyes-but she hates him, too!

Chelsea’s Choice

7. The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air #1) by Holly Black
Amazon * Goodreads
I’mmm not sure what went on here…but Cardan is one intense dude. He had me guessing from beginning to end.

8. Everless (Everless #1) by Sara Holland
Amazon * Goodreads
AGHH the feelssss. I can’t say anything…but by this being on the list, I hope my feelings are clear ;).

Chelsea’s Review

Arielle’s Review

9. Frostblood (Frostblood Saga #1) by Elly Blake
Amazon * Goodreads
I loved this book so very much, that much is no secret-Arcus and Ruby had heat from the moment they met…and the fact that he hated her at first sight only helped that matter 😛

10. From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata
Amazon * Goodreads
IVAN LUKOV. Guys. He is….so good. The verbal sparring that went on between him and Jasmine was HILARIOUS. Oh man I was dying so many times laughing because of the horrible crap they said to each other..and his nickname for her. Lol, sigh.

11. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Amazon * Goodreads
Chelsea – Joshua and Lucy were forced together in one of the most competitive ways…in the same office. The tension between the two is high…but their chemistry is off the charts. I can’t even DEAL with how cute their ‘enemies’ to lovers relationship is ♥♥.️️

12. Dating You / Hating You by Christina Lauren
Amazon * Goodreads
It was an interesting take on the hating to loving trope because they had met BEFORE the chaos started and really hit it off. So that spark was there the entire time, even while the fighting commenced. Their prank war was HILARIOUS. I have not laughed out loud so many times at a book in quite awhile which was a relief after the emotional roller coaster that was ACOWAR.

Arielle’s Choice

13. The Winner’s Curse (The Winner’s Trilogy #1) by Marie Rutkoski
Amazon * Goodreads
I mean, this one isn’t a typical hate to love, but they’re legit enemies at first soooo–it counts, right? 😂.

So these are our Favorite Hate to Love Romances. Have you read any of these books already? Or are they still on your tbrs too? If not, then what book is your favorite hate to love romance?
