FRIDAY STARS – Your Weekly Must Knows 02/24/17

Friday Stars.13
Life:

I’m making the hard decision of whether I should move my oldest son from private to public school.  There’s been some things that have happened in the last month, to other kids there (bullying and something else I can’t write about), that has made me lose my trust in the administration, certain teachers on their staff and some of the students.  A few parents have pulled their kids out of the school.  And I’m struggling with – do I move my son from a small class size of now 12 with a teacher he loves to a new teacher with a class of 24, but he’ll still know 1-2 kids in his new class?  He’s not in their after school care program, so he won’t be around the children I’m concerned with bullying, since they are Pre-K and he’s Kindergarten.  And he doesn’t play or ever interact with a child in his class that I’m also concerned about in regards to an issue I can’t write about.  So I believe it won’t affect him.  Yet he’s in a school with toxic people and children.  And while I know there will always be problems wherever we go, it’s private school and I’m paying for him to go there.  But it all breaks my heart.  I didn’t send him to school today, and I’m definitely going to use the next 3 days to think through everything.  So this last week I have been snuggling with my children more, here’s a picture of Jacob and I doing that here, and I’m looking forward to another 3 day weekend with my boys. ♥  Here’s hoping you aren’t struggling with hard decisions this week too.

In case you aren’t familiar with our Friday Star Posts, we like to take a look at what’s happened around here in the last week, what’s coming up that we are excited about and anything else that we may have to share!

♥ Enjoy!

a-conjuring-of-light-ve-schwab A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic #3) by V.E. Schwab

The final book!  In the first book, A Darker Shade of Magic, Kell is one of the last Travelers-magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes, connected by one magical city.
There’s Grey London, dirty and boring, without any magic, and with one mad king-George III. Red London, where life and magic are revered-and where Kell was raised alongside Rhys Maresh, the rougish heir to a flourishing empire. White London-a place where people fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. And once upon a time, there was Black London. But no one speaks of that now.
Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, ambassador of the Maresh empire, carrying the monthly correspondences between the royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they’ll never see. It’s a defiant hobby with dangerous consequences, which Kell is now seeing firsthand.
Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She first robs him, then saves him from a deadly enemy, and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure.
Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they’ll first need to stay alive.

the vincent boys abbi glinesThe Vincent Boys: Extended and Uncut (The Vincent Boys #1) by Abbi Glines

There was something wicked about Beau that drew me to him. What was wrong with me? Why did I want to sin so badly?
Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.
Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.
Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist…

That’s a really rough decision. The most important thing is how much you obviously care about him; I think whatever choice you make, it will be the right one because you’ll always be there to meet him at the end of the day. Love that adorable photo, btw! 🙂

Hey, three 4 star reads ain’t bad! And the cover of that new Armentrout book is creepily perfect, haha. I hope you have a spectacular reading week and long weekend with your boys!

It was such a hard decision! We decided to pull him so we could have peace of mind and know that he was safe. ♥
That’s what I thought too, when I saw the cover to the new JLA book! Dripping blood. I’ll probably be out of my element and have to sleep with nightlights after reading that one next month lol. I hope you had a great weekend too!

Thanks for all the sale links! I always appreciate those. 🙂

I’m sorry you have to deal with this with your son. If he’s in Kindergarten now, it might be best to move him while he’s still really young. I find it probably gets harder as they grow up. Plus, private school can be really expensive and if you aren’t finding trust in the people in charge, that’s rough.

That is the good thing. Being so young, transition is a lot easier, thank goodness! And that was one of my complaints, we are spending so much money to send him to a school that I, and many other parents, don’t feel is safe anymore. So today was his first day at his new school, and it went wonderfully, yay!! 🙂
