TOP TEN TUESDAY - Books We Love That Are Beach Worthy Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week we get to talk about  Books We Love That Are Beach Worthy Reads. Soooo we missed last weeks TTT which was Beach Reads Week,  and this week was Ten Reasons We Love X.  So we decided that these 10 books are 10 reasons why we love beach worthy reads.  Sneaky huh? Ha.  🙂  So here are some books that are perfect to read when you have your toes in the sand and the sound of the waves is in the background.  Enjoy!

jesses girl miranda kenneally
(Laura’s Choice – Review)
This Lullaby Sarah Dessen
(Laura’s Choice)

1. Jesse’s Girl (Hundred Oaks #6) by Miranda Kenneally – It’s easy to read, humorous and makes the characters come to life in the most wonderful way. In addition to that her books have strong female leads and heroes that make you wish they were real, so you could date them.

2. This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen It’s one of those books I pick up when I need a story that makes me laugh or when I just feel the urge to meet Remy again! She’s one of my favorite heroines ever.

the distance between us kasie west
(Laura, Anna, Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
tessa dare romancing the duke
(Anna’s Choice – Review)

3. The Distance Between Us by Kasie West – From page one I was giggling, smiling ear-to-ear, and felt immediately lighter. The snarkiness of our main character was parallel to some of my all time favorite snark-masters and Xander was…oh my, what was Xander? Xander was the equivalent to every good person in the world I feel like I would date.

4. Romancing The Duke (Castles Ever After #1) by Tessa Dare – Their banter was wonderful, full of repartee and yet never filled with disrespect. This brings me to the absolutely delicious conversations between Izzie and Ransom : man, that was hilarious. Between their comments and the awkward situations they’re put into (the Army guys. Precious. I’ll let you discover it), I couldn’t help but laugh out loud like a total fool.

how to flirt with a naked werewolf molly harper
(Anna’s Choice – Review)
drink slay love sarah beth durst
(Anna’s Choice – Review)

5. How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf #1) by Molly Harper Look → there’s an alpha-male. Who is a werewolf. Oh, FUCK. Save me from these protective douches who think that women are better rudely pinned against a wall before talked to – BUT WAIT! COOPER! I JUST LOVE THIS GRUMPY ASSHOLE! Wait – NO. He’s adorable : I can’t help it, there’s just something I found absolutely endearing when it comes to wolves. JACKASS. But so damn cute. FUCKING STUBBORN. Yet he respects Mo’s choices and never puts her down.

6. Drink, Slay, Love by Sarah Beth Durst – An alpha female vampire MC, who’s at the top of the food chain and intends to stay there, even though she starts feeling – UGH – emotions (so annoying). I loved Pearl : she’s unapologetic, selfish, kick-ass, smart, and hilarious. What not to love?

practice makes perfect julie james
(Anna & Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
Price Of A Kiss linda kage
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

7. Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James – I fell hard for these two and their hateful (yet, let’s admit it, heated) banter and scorching looks. I fell for their rivalry, for their tentative friendship, the realization that one or both of them have used hate as a cover for how they have always felt for one another.

8. Price of a Kiss (Forbidden Men #1) by Linda Kage – Sexy and fun and light without being too light, I fell under this book’s spell.

dairy queen catherine gilbert murdock
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
Good Girl
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

9. Dairy Queen (Dairy Queen #1) by Catherine Gilbert Murdock – This book, while funny and outwardly mocking in and of itself, was also surprisingly deep, full of values that aren’t always put first in a teenager’s life. D.J.’s voice is one that, while a little different at first, is one that I think many young girls could relate to. Hell, I could relate to it.

10. Good Girl (Love Unexpectedly #2) by Lauren Layne – Sizzling sexy, laugh out loud funny and pulled at my heartstrings!  Upon closing that last page I knew that Good Girl was easily one of my favorite books of this year.  I mean, I read it in one sitting.  And that happens once in a blue moon for me.

So here are the  Books We Love That Are Beach Worthy Reads.  So have you read any of these?   Or do you have any to recommend that are your favorite Beach Worthy Reads?  We’d love to know!

TOP TEN TUESDAY - Books We Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week we get to talk about Books We Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed.  Have you ever rated a book, and then over time your love for the book has diminished or grown even more?  Because that has definitely happened to us!  So here are the books that we definitely want to change our original rating……

loving mr daniels brittainy c. cherry
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
the soul eaters cracked eliza crewe
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

1. Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy Cherry 3.5 to 2 Stars – A horribly written story that had one (or a zillion) too many tragedies to ring true.

2. Cracked (Soul Eater #1) by Eliza Crewe 4 to 3 Stars – I gave it a little more credit than it deserved because of friends optimism and enthusiasm for it.

the seers julianna scott
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

nought & crosses malorie blackman
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

3. The Seers (Holders #2) by Julianna Scott4 to 3 Stars – I wanted so badly to love it because it was so sweet I tricked myself into enjoying it more than I did.

4. Noughts & Crosses (Noughts & Crosses #1) by Malorie Blackman3 to 2 Stars – I never really knew how to rate this because I was so emotionally distraught…after a year, now I know.

wait for you jennifer l. armentrout j. lynn
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
lux opposition jennifer l armentrout
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)

5. Wait for You (Wait for You #1) by J. Lynn4.5 to 3 Stars – The beginning of the end for me.

6. Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout5 to 4 Stars – Same JLA formula, minus the epic.

the sweet gum tree katherine allred
(Chelsea’s Choice – Review)
the temptation of lila and ethan jessica sorensen
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

7. The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred5 to 3 Stars – This book was about as depressing as it gets, and it had so many of my pet peeves (that I didn’t realize I had) I’m surprised I even finished it. Again, another case of wanting to love it as much as my friends did.

8. The Temptation of Lila and Ethan (The Secret #3) by Jessica Sorensen3 to 2 Stars – The more I think about this series, the more upset I get.  The ending of this book is exactly how the character was in the 1st book.  And this is book 3 of a 4 book series.  It was infuriating to see Ella (the main character from the previous books and who is the main character in the next final book) do the exact same hurtful things again and again that she did in the beginning!  It was redundant and was hugely disappointing.  Sadly I gave up on reading any more books by Jessica Sorensen, even though she creates a beautiful world full of heartache, hardships and tragic pasts.

rebel belle rachel hawkins
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
On The Fence Kasie West
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

9. Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle #1) by Rachel Hawkins4 to 3 Stars – This book was so fluffy and cute and it was just what I needed after reading some dystopian books that made me ugly cry.  Yet, I never once felt the urge to continue the series, even though I did enjoy it.  My problem was that I didn’t connected with the main character.  And that fact, over time, has made me realize I have more of an okay feelings toward this book then a like.  I’ll always continue a series if the 1st book is 4 Stars, yet I won’t ever continue if the 1st book is just a 3 star.  And this is definitely a 3 star book.

10. On the Fence by Kasie West4.5 to 5 StarsOUR ONLY INCREASE LOL!  I deducted half a star because I struggled finding a connection to Charlie in the beginning.  Once I did, I loved her.  BUT the whole time I  read this story, I found myself loving every single teeny tiny detail in this book.  This is probably the most adorable story I’ve ever read!  So I want to kick myself for being so harsh and deducting that half a star, because this books will always be on my favorites list!

So these are the Books We Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed.  Do you feel the same about any of these books?  Of do you have books whose rating you feel differently about too?

TOP TEN TUESDAY – Websites I Love That Aren’t About Books

TOP TEN TUESDAY - Websites I Love That Aren't About Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week I get to gush about Websites I Love That Aren’t About Books.  So I have a few obsessions, other than books.  First off – I LOVE to eat and try any and all types of food.   Seriously. I have a weakness for all food, as long as it’s not spicy.  And this is why I have to force myself to jog everyday and do evil Jillian Michael videos lol.  Secondly, I also adore clothes!  I’ve come to rely on fashion bloggers, since shopping with two little boys, 3 & 5, is not the most fun lol!  And lastly I enjoy looking at different types of makeup or products that don’t test on animals.
So here are the 9 bloggers (shhh don’t tell anyone it’s not 10) whose websites I absolutely love –

Food:

1. Sally’s Baking Addiction – The pictures she takes alone makes everything look SO yummy!  But my favorite thing about her recipes are that they are so EASY & delicious!  Seriously.  This week I’m going to try out one her recipes for donuts and I just know they’re going to turn out perfect!  One of my favorites so far is her Sunshine Smoothie!  I can’t even count how many times I’ve made it because YUM!

2. Averie Cooks – She has such a wide range of recipes that  feel very unique to me.  And again, they don’t take forever and a day to make, which I adore.  My favorite so far is her Honey-Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Honey-Cinnamon Dip.  Each time I make them, my boys ask if they can just have that for dinner.  Uhh no lol.

Clothes:

3. The Sweetest Thing BlogEmily’s style is gorgeous, flowy, comfortable, and at times bright!  My favorite loose, long and crazy comfortable sweaters are all because of her and her posts!  I don’t even want to admit how many I have purchased from her posts lol.  I adore her style – I so want the wedges she just posted about here.  Plus Fitz, her mini golden doodle, is sometimes in the pictures with her and he is beyond adorable!

4. Southern Curls & PearlsCaitlin’s style in clothes is cute, flirty & comfortable!  There have been so many shirts and tank tops that look adorable on her, so I’ve ordered them and ended up loving!  I’m still obsessing over the blue and white bell sleeve top she wore in this post.  And of course another bonus is that she is only 5’3″ and I’m 5’4″ so I can always trust how the length is going to fit on me.  Yay!

5. A Spoonful of StyleJade’s style is classy and sophisticated.  But just a heads up – she’s currently on  a leave from blogging since she is on bedrest while being pregnant.  But.  Oh. My. Gosh.  I got one of my favorite dresses ever because of one of her posts.  It’s long-sleeved and has a 70’s feel and is soooooo comfortable!  You can find the post here.

6. For All Things LovelyMegan’s style is all about being sophisticated, chic and sometimes a little edgy.  I have a ton of her clothes on my wish-list right now!

Makeup:

7. Curelty Free Kitty –  I’m a huge supporter of buying products that don’t test on animals, and Suzi’s post are informative, detailed and she gives the best comparative results.  I always find myself going back and reading so many of her old posts!  I just purchased and got in the mail Alba Botanica Mango Vanilla Shave Foam because of her post on The Ultimate Guide to Cruelty-Free Hair Removal .  I can’t wait to take a shower tomorrow so I can try it out! 🙂

8. Buy Now Blog LaterI adore that Laura posts lots of pictures and her voice is fun and personable.  I started following her because her coloring is a little similar to mine and I loved some of the products that were her faves.  Plus she’s been blogging for about 4-5 years (I believe), so there are so many old articles that I’m still going through!

9. Ysis LorennaI started following Ysis because her coloring is similar to mine and I used to be obsessed with MAC, and she has soooo many reviews on MAC.  But I’ve come to love that she tests multiple products and there are always lots of options to choose from.

So these are the Websites I Love That Aren’t About Books.  Have you ever visited these sites before?  Are you obsessed with food, clothes or makeup too?  And if so, what are some of your faves, I’d love to know!

With help from Iorek Byrnison the armored bear and two tiny Gallivespian spies, they must journey to a dank and gray-lit world where no living soul has ever gone. i'll meet you there heather demetrios
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

13. Skyler & Josh from I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios Since I adore HEA’s more than HFN, I’d love to see what happens in the future!  It was emotionally intense and impossible to put down and such an important story and accurate portrayal of PTSD.
If seventeen-year-old Skylar Evans were a typical Creek View girl, her future would involve a double-wide trailer, a baby on her hip, and the graveyard shift at Taco Bell. But after graduation, the only thing standing between straightedge Skylar and art school are three minimum-wage months of summer. Skylar can taste the freedom—that is, until her mother loses her job and everything starts coming apart. Torn between her dreams and the people she loves, Skylar realizes everything she’s ever worked for is on the line.(…)

14. All of Them! from The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds #1) by Alexandra Bracken: Again another HFN that I’d love to know what happened!  I was glued to this page turner and the story was a collection of darkness, laughter and the fact that maybe we can never out run our fate. I will never forget this story for as long as I live.
When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.(…)

scarlet a.c. gaughen
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
divergent veronica roth
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

15. All of Them! from Scarlet (Scarlet #1) by A.C. Gaughen: Sorry haha, but another HFN that I’d love to know what happened!  This was an adventurous series that was filled to the brim with excitement and hardships at many turns!
Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the evil Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only Big John and Robin Hood know the truth-that the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. It’s getting harder to hide as Gisbourne’s camp seeks to find Scarlet and drive Robin Hood out of Nottinghamshire. (…)

16. You Know Who….. from Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth: I’ve always wanted to know what happened after I closed that last page.  Especially after the final book broke my heart into a million little pieces.  I would love to look into that future and see more happiness and smiles.
One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior’s society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she’s determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

TOP TEN TUESDAY – Books That Will Make You Laugh

TOP TEN TUESDAY - Books That Will Make You Laugh

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week we get to gush about Books That Will Make You Laugh!  It’s such a wonderful feeling finding laughter in books!  So when you are in need of not being able to not knock that smile off of your face and laughing out loud, then pick up these books…….

Perfect Kind of Trouble chelsea fine
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
the fill-in boyfriend kasie west
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

1. Perfect Kind of Trouble (Finding Fate #2) by Chelsea Fine – Kayla finally has the opportunity of a lifetime – a chance at an inheritance that could change her world.  Yet to obtain that inheritance, she has to team up with handsome playboy Daren Ackwood, her father’s protégé.  This story was heart-warming and oh so funny.

2. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West – Gia’s boyfriend dumps her in the parking lot right outside her school dance.  Ack.  Luckily she convinces a boy in a car to be her fill-in boyfriend.  I happily smiled through the majority of the story, while giggling like I was in High School all over again.

shine-not-burn-elle-casey
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
Be with me j. lynn jennifer l. armentrout
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

3. Shine Not Burn (Shine Not Burn #1) by Elle Casey – This book made me laugh so hard I couldn’t stop crying while trying my hardest to breathe.  Andie and Mack have a wild night of romance in Las Vegas.  That is extremely fuzzy.  They think they won’t see each other ever again, but what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas……

4. Be With Me (Wait For You #2) by J. Lynn – Tess’ inner thoughts were absolutely hilarious. She constantly had me cracking up and I loved the way she saw the world. She had a smart mouth, a huge heart and she knew what she wanted and wasn’t going to compromise for anything less.

rebel belle rachel hawkins
(Jen’s Choice – Review)
love the one you're with lauren layne
(Jen’s Choice – Review)

5. Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle #1) by Rachel Hawkins – I was in need of a read that was going to make me giggle and smile and that’s exactly what Rebel Belle gave me!  Harper Jane Prince reminded me so much of Cher from Clueless but Harper ends up kissing the school janitor in the bathroom and obtaining his super powers.  Um yeah, it’s ridiculously hilarious.

6. Love the One You’re With (Sex Love & Stiletto #2) by Lauren Layne – Jake and Grace have to write an article after each date to see who can read the opposite sex better – they both work for magazines.  But they never agreed to play fair, and the games Jake and Grace played against each other were funny and thoroughly entertaining!  I loved every minute that they were tricking and manipulating each other!

simon vs the homo sapiens agenda becky albertalli
(Anna’s Choice – Review)
it's all your fault paul rudnick
(Anna’s Choice – Review)

7. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli This book was a serious breath of fresh air, and I ended up with the biggest smile on my face. It tackled so many important issues – bullying, sexual identity, friendship, family – with such an authentic and hilarious voice!

8. It’s All Your Fault by Paul RudnickYet I have to admit that at first, the story didn’t seem like something I would enjoy. Christian choir singer? Teen Movie Star? Kneesocks? (I kid, I kid, they’re great – I guess so) It sure didn’t scream fangirl material, to be honest. But it was without counting on the HILARIOUS (yes, I’m using CAPS because COME ON! I lost my ability to stop laughing and snorting like a crazy person on page two) dialogues and inner thoughts and situations and EVERYTHING.

tessa dare a week to be wicked
(Anna’s Choice – Review)
me and earl and the dying girl jesse andrews
(Anna’s Choice – Review)

9. A Week to be Wicked (Spindle Cove #2) by Tessa Dare Yes there are parts completely unbelievable and twists rather roll-eyes worthy – of course. But you know what? That’s okay, because what Min and Colin are offering us? That’s a tale – a show of deception, the triumph of the lies – and that’s hilarious.

10. Me, Earl and the dying girl by Jesse AndrewsBEWARE. From my friend list, I can see that you’ll either love or hate this book (because : immature much?), but I laughed out loud during the whole thing and I’m not even ashamed. Here’s a sample for you. You’re welcome. “Music really only interested me as a soundtrack to a movie, and as for sports, I mean, come on. It’s some guys throwing some balls around, or trying to knock each other over, and you’re supposed to watch them for three hours at a time, and it just sort of seems like a waste. I dunno.”

So these are some of our Books That Will Make You Laugh.  What are some of yours?
